I feel like the "water gargling" part is actually the ink/octoling version of vocal vibrato. I'm fairly certain we hear other singers use it too. Or maybe it's just a result of how their vocal chords work since you can hear that watery worble in their speech as well
1:30 , they couldve used Kraken Up as a reference to her being sort of "Cracked up", ruined or weak and trying to fight back, since when someone says theyre cracked up it usually means theyre angry and going to pick a fight.
This is great! I think that the monotonous and repetitive rhythm/vocals could also reference the complete take-over of order, since a more chaotic song would have more variety. Also, I don’t know if this makes sense, but Marina sounds sort of pleasant (except during the chorus), and she’s also smiling throughout the song. Maybe, through Order’s control, she could be trying to convince that this place is better and improved? It also hits harder since Marina wanted order to win in the Splatfest. I love your take on it and the care you put into connecting it to other songs!! ‼️‼️
At 2:46, it kinda sounds like the beginning of the chorus of Ebb and Flow (the part when the lyrics says “raizonnei”) The notes in ebb and flow are : A A B A G And the notes here are : A G A B A G
Oh!! That’s really interesting! I believe also the design on Acht’s hat is also on Paul from Sashimori’s hat. Maybe they’re all kind of related, possibly because some of the bands have Octoling members?
Yeah, kraken me up and the octarian beat could be really and internal fight, it's not like a headcanon, if not more like a canon thing because she's "not being fully" control, afterall she was calling for help-
The water gargling isnt limited to just when the idols sing. In both concerts and (occasionally) the news broadcast, you can hear this sound overlay. If I’m not mistaken, the producers behind the Splatoon soundtrack actually said this is an integral part to the octo- and inklings’ voices, and its also a main component in the worldbuilding.
One tiny note: I think the gurgly voice effect is just a general inkling/octoling quirk and not a special effect here, you can even hear the gurgle in regular pvp voice clips. Otherwise this is actually a really good video 🎉 well done!
Fun fact: those 4 notes appearing throughout the entire song kinda has three notes from Spectrum Obligato’s motif (The four notes are G C# F# E, while in spectrum obligato it has F# E D A G #F E)
love this video honestly! unconscience is one of my fave side oder-songs and it's so satisfying to me to hear and reconize leitmotifs, but the only thing i personally reconized when i first heard it was the obvious onward-jingle (that i was already obsessed with since it played in all the other boss themes lmao)
This analysis is so GREAT! I love seeing (or in this case hearing) all the things you spotted. The octarian beat in the beginning is very fascinating. I was wondering why this song sounded so familiar but somehow broken. The Kraken Up sound could potentially be part of Order grabbing multiple consciousness? Especially since most of squid squad is still around. I didn't even notice the slight beat change either. I love that you found so much in this song!
banger video!!! i never noticed kraken up, that is crazy i think the gargling water thing is just marina's accent. she sounds more gurgly than the others sometimes. i only really noticed this cause my mom kept laughing at her when nasty majesty came on 😭 i just kinda call the wetness degree of voices in splatoon accents,,, it makes most sense to me in a worldbuilding kinda way was really expecting more like. attention on this since it just popped into my feed but you small tiny like me. enjoy your new subscriber 👍 (it's me)
I might be in the minority here but I think the Kraken Up "reference" is most likely just a coincidence. Yes it sounds very similar, but I've yet to hear a remotely convincing reason as to why such a reference would be made.

0:37 I always thought that the sound Marina made here was her laughing, saying 'ha' a bunch.
Haha 😆

Kraken up could be a reference on how marina spent time on the surface and it “plagued” her mind with the upbeat inkling music?
Btw, there were other octolings who worked in the making of the game (well game inside of a game)

That does make sense! That’s a really interesting analysis!!
It reminds me of when you try standing over the enemy octoling kettle in splatoon too, it kind of sounds like that song
alice peralta is so talented holy shit
Yes! All of the Splatoon voice actors are great singers!

I'm not the only one that heard kraken up yay
tbh im pretty sure Marina is related to squid squad/front roe cause on her dj stuffs we can see the front roe logo..

LMAO I HAD MY HEADPHONES PLAYING SPOTIFY ON MY COMPUTER AND WHEN I CLICKED ON THIS UNCONSCIOUS STARTED A FEW SECONDS LATER
VGM analysis on my beloved
I'd love an analysis on Echo Onslaught! I swear there's a letimotif there but I can't place my finger on it.
It’s inkoming
I think the water thing is cause of the filter used to make the inkling and octo voices
Side order music has a creppy eerie vibe to them
Pretty good analysis, thanks for-
...
Wait, where are all of the comments? Why does this have only 217 views? Where is everyone???

3:06 its not a refrence thats literally just how they do the voices mate.
Yesssss please make one on spectrum obligato
I knew I wasn’t the only one hearing Kraken Up
3:06 this is just inkling/octoling verbal language, the gargling doesn’t reference anything

I tried several times rearranging the order of the notes to try to find a motif in them but I didn’t find it haha. Great observation!!
This is GREAT! All about EVERYTHING! Keep it up!
Thank you!!
this video is so good!! the little visuals really helped too
I think Nintendo put alot of care into side order

Awesome analysis!! :] i love this song
kraken up
I love this analysis, Uncoscience is my fav song from Side Order!

True, it could be a coincidence.
Nice
i love this
In Octo eight step some of the strings remind me of this one part but I need the timestamp
Edit: here we go! 0:59 to 1:04
