What broke my young heart in 1966 was watching Lara walk by while Doctor Zhivago lay dying on the sidewalk. What a tragedy. Romeo and Juliet personified.
Interestingly- owing to the book being banned in the USSR- a copy was smuggled out to friends of the family who had emigrated to Italy- they got it translated into Italian, and that was the first published and available for sale edition. It was only in Gorbachev's time that Boris Pasternak's granddaughter was able to pick up him Nobel Prize on his behalf, with Gorbachev's approval.

This movie set my concept of what True love could be. The emotional connection at the deepest level. The soul mate concept. It became real for me all through my young adult years. when you get into your fifties you start to listen to the music of your childhood and early teens. though this is beautiful love song of any generation.
Forever the film that stirs my heart. Time can never erase this masterpiece of such love. I think it had been recycled in theatres when my mother took me to see this at 8 or 9.
Saw the film in my teens,. Still my most moving film. Tragedy, politics, cruelty and ideal love we are capable of. A few years after seeing this film my life was blessed to meet what became a friend, mentor and role -- even looked like Omar Sharif. A scientist, artist, philosopher, humanitarian, idealist. If one is open, this film reaches and moves core dimensions. Thanks for reminding beauty through frosted window pane. Even in tragedy and want, there is beauty and inspiration. Thanks for posting.
This is the perfect combination of director, actors and music director. Whenever I hear this, I can SEE the little joys of Dr. Zhivago in his twinkling eyes in his serene face; his efforts to have a last glimpse of his beloved; his emotional turmoil.Oh! So heart squeezing! Only Lean could do justice to the novel capturing the psyche of Boris Pasternak.

GREAT MOVIE, Superb ACTING AND ONE OF The GREATEST MUSICAL THEMES EVER CREATED!!!!
This music means more to me than anyone will ever know.
3 years of age ... yet recall this masterpiece being played on our radio at the time.
Sounds a bit off key.
Every time I listen to this song, I feel so sorry for Dr. Zhivago because he was such a nice person.
I fell in love with Julie when I lived in London in 62 /63 when I was on the tube and saw her face my life lit up she was only on posters small things but I will never ever forget thanks ❤️
You may have seen her in "Billy Liar" (1963). If not, watch this clip ruclips.net/video/w0p9xpOHPUE/видео.html and try to get hold of the whole movie.
Has there EVER been such an enchanting song tied to such an enchanting character?
The closest I can think of would be from ''Sumer Of 42''.
Has to be one of the most beautiful pieces of music written!
doctor zivago is a movie that shows that that human nature is cruel, but also can very compassionate
A film you never forget, and the music also memorable.
Beautiful music and movies aren’t made like this anymore. This movie and music is a classic 🤩
when you get into your fifties you start to listen to the music of your childhood and early teens. though this is beautiful love song of any generation.
Savage Snayle looks like hardships abound, and love denied
@@keithbalke6352 love is love passion is passion and this music is music....and we spoke as person to person.
Forever the film that stirs my heart. Time can never erase this masterpiece of such love. I think it had been recycled in theatres when my mother took me to see this at 8 or 9.
This is so beautiful. My mother plays this on the piano. It's suddenly dawned on me how much I'm going to miss it when she's gone...
One of my all time favorite tunes...no question..yes!!!

My late Mother used to hum that tune back in the 60s The memories I have of her humming! It's brings tears to my eyes
What a beautiful piece of Music.

Lara's theme is so lovely. It was always played at piano recitals. So was the equally beautiful A Time for us from Romeo and Juliet.
She was so beautiful! Period!
Film inoubliable , une merveille comme le cinéma savait le faire avant !
Beautiful music, beautiful woman. This movie is a 😢 tear jerker.

What a movie, we were in 12th grade and in the auditorium we saw this movie and I was in love with it.
One of my favorite movies and love Laura's theme.
I'd wished it could've had a much better ending.

So amazing thugs at the heartstrings for ever painful.
Has there ever been a film made anywhere near the magnificence of Dr. Zhivago. It has everything.
What a movie ...!!! Can't wait to watch it again
Absolutely beautiful, Great movie, Great stars, GREAT MEMORIES...
Qué hermoso tema para una película inolvidable, nunca dejaré de verla las veces q' sean necesario
