I saw it when it was first released. Tell you what I'm an emotional guy and the end of it absolutely blew me away. I did not expect it to end like that. Two gorgeous people helped...
Yes, it showed a real love story because he was still so crazy for her till at old age and i felt really like a ball in the throat when he was so close to her in the end and the voice did not come out 😢. Nowadays the social media would destroy him as actor when they would start to write about his belief , roots and name. Omar Sharif gave all his best for this film and Julie Christie too.

Then I saw it on my own twice. Only time I ever did that. I must have watched it dozens of times since. Possibly the finest film I ever saw. The acting, the direction, the music and the cinematography have never been beaten in my view.
Yes, super filming, beautiful actors, and wonderful music. Yes, me and My Darling wife had tears. Can we LOOK deeper into characters? Wifey asked me WHY he let his WIFE go away, and had affair, and let HER go away as well?? All for an idiotic love of Siberia and some borscht and potatoes?? He was idiot
when you get into your fifties you start to listen to the music of your childhood and early teens. though this is beautiful love song of any generation.
Dr. Zhivago - a gift for the ages from the phenomenal movie maker - David Lean. He also gave us Bridge on the River Kwai and Lawrence of Arabia. Superb acting with Omar Sharif and Julie Christie.
@For Paws - I don't call the Queen - "Her Majesty" etc. George Washington made it clear we are democracy and he made it clear that we should address him as "Mr. President" - America does not have royalty. Recall the original 13 Colonies rebelled against King George and eventually won. Our great movie actors and directors are called by their name.
For Paws --> “Sir" is a prefix added by GB for one of their citizen. I am not from Great Britain and do not have to subscribe to their nuances. I don't recall English using the title "Mahatma" when referring to Gandhi. The English has been a duplicitous and cunning group of people. They don't deserve anything more, if not less.
This is the perfect combination of director, actors and music director. Whenever I hear this, I can SEE the little joys of Dr. Zhivago in his twinkling eyes in his serene face; his efforts to have a last glimpse of his beloved; his emotional turmoil.Oh! So heart squeezing! Only Lean could do justice to the novel capturing the psyche of Boris Pasternak.
I love the book, and this movie is a masterpiece! I am Russian and I can say that the essence of the Russian spirit is revealed at its best in this film.
Saw the film in my teens,. Still my most moving film. Tragedy, politics, cruelty and ideal love we are capable of. A few years after seeing this film my life was blessed to meet what became a friend, mentor and role -- even looked like Omar Sharif. A scientist, artist, philosopher, humanitarian, idealist. If one is open, this film reaches and moves core dimensions. Thanks for reminding beauty through frosted window pane. Even in tragedy and want, there is beauty and inspiration. Thanks for posting.
Forever the film that stirs my heart. Time can never erase this masterpiece of such love. I think it had been recycled in theatres when my mother took me to see this at 8 or 9.
I was about 10 when this movie came out, still young enough to go with my family (back when major studios still made movies whole families could see). Mom later took me back to see the matinee three or four times. Such a great movie, the romance part went mostly over my head although while Julie Christie was absurdly beautiful I remember thinking I would have liked Geraldine Chaplin. Mom died recently at 100. Think of her when I hear this - the beautiful happily married suburban housewife with a dweeby kid and maybe just a tiny crush on Omar Shariff.
I fell in love with Julie when I lived in London in 62 /63 when I was on the tube and saw her face my life lit up she was only on posters small things but I will never ever forget thanks ❤️

The acting, the direction, the music and the cinematography have never been beaten in my view.
And you see new parallels, revelations each time. This movie is my absolute favorite.
@@loriqualls3100 I saw it once as as child. I remember Omar Sharif's resonating eyes.....Gonna watch this movie for the second time very soon.
That film conveyed a miserable time in a frozen wilderness....I felt like I was there right with them !!
Yes. we did it together as well. Another kind of bonding with girlfriend.
Timeless story, timeless music, outstanding acting and probably the greatest movie ever made.
Beautiful people, beautiful storie, beautiful music.
This music means more to me than anyone will ever know.
What a great movie, and Lara's theme made it even better. I loved this movie and I love this music.
when you get into your fifties you start to listen to the music of your childhood and early teens. though this is beautiful love song of any generation.
Savage Snayle looks like hardships abound, and love denied
@@keithbalke6352 love is love passion is passion and this music is music....and we spoke as person to person.
Lara's theme is so lovely. It was always played at piano recitals. So was the equally beautiful A Time for us from Romeo and Juliet.
Ryan's Daughter and Dr Zhivago. Two beautiful movies by the great David Lean.
Lara y Yuri eternos ,historia y amor magistral película!!
Has there EVER been such an enchanting song tied to such an enchanting character?
GREAT MOVIE, Superb ACTING AND ONE OF The GREATEST MUSICAL THEMES EVER CREATED!!!!
First movie in my life that made me cry . So moving , so beautiful .
Yes ,This Movie is sentimental
This is the perfect combination of director, actors and music director. Whenever I hear this, I can SEE the little joys of Dr. Zhivago in his twinkling eyes in his serene face; his efforts to have a last glimpse of his beloved; his emotional turmoil.Oh! So heart squeezing! Only Lean could do justice to the novel capturing the psyche of Boris Pasternak.
My late Mother used to hum that tune back in the 60s The memories I have of her humming! It's brings tears to my eyes
What a beautiful piece of Music.
Thank you
I love the book, and this movie is a masterpiece!
Vielen Dank
@@ahang1001 Just read your note. And he was from Austria, although he preferred ‘Prussian.’ Vielen Dank!
What a lovely person u are xx
Ahhh so beautiful. Julie Christie was stunning. We do not have that beauty in today's modern world. Sorry, but we don't. ❤❤
Forever the film that stirs my heart. Time can never erase this masterpiece of such love. I think it had been recycled in theatres when my mother took me to see this at 8 or 9.
Without doubt... The most beautiful woman that has EVER graced Gods green earth......
I have loved this melody for years. Why can't we all live in PEACE!
Such a beautiful story.
What a beautiful woman... plus, what a beautiful song ... I remember having seen this movie way, way, back when ...
Julie Christie has never been more beautiful than she is in this film.
I have always thought that FACIALLY she is the most stunning actress I have ever seen
💎💜💜💜💎
@@eric4464 thoroughly agree comrade.
Yes, she has. Watch her in "Billy Liar".
A theme full of beauty, sadness and heart rending reality.
I fell in love with Julie when I lived in London in 62 /63 when I was on the tube and saw her face my life lit up she was only on posters small things but I will never ever forget thanks ❤️
You may have seen her in "Billy Liar" (1963). If not, watch this clip ruclips.net/video/w0p9xpOHPUE/видео.html and try to get hold of the whole movie.
Beautiful music and movies aren’t made like this anymore. This movie and music is a classic 🤩
Such a haunting melodious music. Listening from the last 30 years. Simply superb. 🎉
A film you never forget, and the music also memorable.
I BECOME UNCONSCIOUS WHEN I LISTEN THIS TUNE, I CANT CONTROL MY TEARS OF EMOTION, I AM SURE, ANYONE WHO LISTEN THIS TUNE WILL REMEMBER HIS OR HER LOVEONE....
You are not alone!
The tears in my eyes are for my mom and dad as I see them flowing around the dance floor to any waltz.
What a movie ...!!! Can't wait to watch it again

watched this movie in 1979. just one of the few old movies I still watch.
My parents got married in 79 and this was one of their favourite films and this theme so familiar to me through my entire childhood.
May God Rest their souls, both wonderful people, now no more.
Decade after decade i enjoy this beautiful melody, really timeless.
I will always remember and cherish this immortal movie. Thanks.
