- #selaginella #bscbotany #1stsemesterexam #1stsemester #neet #pteridophytes #pteridophyta #lifecycles #botany #biologybydrimtiyaz have been reported from India. Abundantly it is found in tropical rain forests.
Mostly the species prefer moist and shady places to grow.
Few species are also found growing in xerophytic conditions i.e., on dry sandy soil or rocks e.g., S. lepidophylla, S. rupestris etc.
A very few species are epiphytes e.g., S. oregena. It is found growing on tree trunks.
S. lepidophylla, S. pilifera show cespitose habit, they roll/curl and become ball like during dry season and again unroll and become green and fresh when moisture is available and called resurrection plant.

Hello sir ...l have a query....
Q and R are the flowering plants of same species . Plant Q is defoliated and both the plants and then exposed to appropriate photo inductive cycles. A branch of R is then grafted on Q which of the following response is obtained.
A) Only R will flower.
B) Only Q will flower.
C) both R and Q will flower.
D) no flowering in both.
In this case, since both Q and R were exposed to the appropriate photoperiodic cycles, it's likely that they have undergone the necessary processes for flowering induction. When a branch of R is grafted onto Q, the signals for flowering may be transmitted. Therefore, the most probable response is:
C) Both R and Q will flower.
The grafting process allows the transfer of signaling molecules, and if both plants were previously induced for flowering, the grafted branch may respond accordingly.
Thankyou very much sir
Thanku sir
