Astro Bot is a platform game developed by Team Asobi and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It is a sequel to the 2020 game Astro's Playroom, and is the third game in the Astro Bot series. The game was released for the PlayStation 5 on September 6, 2024, in celebration of PlayStation's 30th anniversary.

The main thing that makes it the best platformer in years is how the controls are smoother than a knife cutting through butter, Shigeru Miyamoto must have secretly helped them lol

Japan studio has a history of amazing platformers. If things were different they alone couldve won at Nintendo own game, I always said this.

Hey! They kidnapped Ryu, he sent us a message by leaving out a puzzle piece on stage 1 and a bot on stage 2. How clever he is, this is a code, Ryu would NEVER leave out something on the first levels.

Ryu.. I gotta say. For someone who is a God Gamer, not knowing Ratchet & Clank, Jak and Daxter, and Ape Escape hurts to hear 😂
It has nothing to do with being good at video games.
Those mostly released during the golden age of PC gaming and romhacks. Knowing Ryu he was too busy playing D2, WC3, and WoW. I have almost zero memory of what happened on PS/Xbox during 2000-2010 because there were so many good PC games.

14:37. This is the best part about this game. All its little clever quirks. It took me a bit to notice, but Astro Bot switches his movement pattern from his normal movement to ice skating when he's touching ice. On top of that, he does the ice skater triple sowcow or whatever it's called when he jumps. The attention to detail is amazing. I just smile the entire time I play it. So smart, simple, but beautiful and fun.
Capcom should do a Megaman game like Jet Force Gemini for the Nintendo 64 or a 3D platform just like this
The laser jump should be called the Astro glide.

The deluxe edition doesn't give you skins. It gives you the soundtrack and an artbook.
Also gives you a golden skin and a bloodborne skin
Dude you've never played Jak and Daxter!? It's a certified classic. All 3 are good, but I'm a fan of the first one especially. A lot of charm, it's another fun platforming game. The way it integrated story and gameplay is just super fun though.

I loved Astro's Playroom - it was so slept on. I'm definitely here for a bigger Astro game
PlayStation saw that fans weren’t getting Galaxy 3, so why not just do that?
PlayStation saw that people weren't into the Knack IP so they rebranded Knack 3 with this AstroBot character people seemed to like.
I keep seeing this but astrobot and Mario Galaxy 2 aren’t really that similar..

One game is about flying around the universe, completing creative levels, getting cool powerups, discovering a bunch of collectibles, some tight platforming, mostly easy to medium difficulty but some challenges, and rescuing your friends. And the other is… the other one?
Astrobot is great but the original for PSVR is even better. Easily the most immersive and polished VR platformer ever
I'm so bummed out that this game didn't have a PSVR2 option to play it. After playing Astro Bot Rescue Mission on PSVR it'll feel like a downgrade to play it on a flat screen.
Yeah, I gave away my PSVR1, because I thought I would get some version on my PSV2. I now miss my PSVR1 😢

God this game looks sensational. Playroom was honestly such a breath of fresh air in terms of gameplay fluidity with the PS5 system and this looks like it’ll be just as amazing. I can’t wait to play it!!

This is better than playroom but playroom was free 😂. But it is better and longer. While also kinda more of the same.

I LOVE Astro games! If you like this, you should try the other ones. The VR one is a ton of fun for multiple players
dude ryu should play the OG jak and daxter, he would love the platforming in that so much
there are a lot of hidden stuff you must looking for every level
If you never played the first one on psvr, I HIGHLY recommend it.

I think the first couple minutes might be hinting of this being a PlayStation exclusive. Might be overthinking it.

Got 100% in game and 100% trophies. Such an excellent game. Only thing I wanted more of was costumes. Not the biggest selection, especially when teasing you with so many references/bots. I wanted to play as Solid Snake or Big Boss! 😭
Have you played Ape Escape? If not you would like it, super fun, that's the game the characters after the boss were from
I've been waiting for a new ape escape for over 15 years I wish they would or at least port 3 to PS5 it was my favorite

Even Spiderman sling shotting yourself. Man these devs were like, lets make a game with all the stuff we enjoyed in our live and combine it together! Kinda sad it took about 4 years for for Sony to release a must have exclusive for the PS5 lol.
For those of us who actually bought a PlayStation VR for PlayStation 4, we got to experience Astro robot rescue mission, Astro bots first entry in the franchise.
This game looks great gives off the vibes of little big planet with the platforming and collecting costumes.
really don't get how you missed the 3rd puzzle piece on the first level,
it was visible from the outside in the giant water tank, which you speed-swam through.
then didn't even bother with to backtrack through to look for the last bot that needed saving.
Nintendo doesn’t make a new Mario Odyssey or Galaxy.

IMO Astro should be the Playstation mascot...its such a very marketable and friendly character.

I played Banjo Kazooie for the first time a few years ago and was blown away with how fun and cute it was. This definitely reminds me of that a bit

Also the flying on the ship before you land on the stage, is Star Fox Adventures if I remember correctly.
The developers here knew Nintendo are the best at 3D platformers and took inspiration. A lot of it. The good part is they good inspiration from the heart and soul of the Nintendo games too, not only the style and mechanics. Most clones take inspiration from the shell but ignore the meat inside. These developers noticed both.

This is basically a full fledged version of Astro's Playroom, which in itself was amazing for at free to play game. I can't wait to play this.
The level select is almost ripped right out of Mario Galaxy....
It's like if Fall Guys had an adventure mode, and it was PS themed.
Check the space area, I mean where you can select the level you want to play, a lot of optional stuff flies around for you too hit and give you extra bits and bobs. Also every level has a couple of bots that have the playstation symbols next to them, those are characters from other games. If they don’t have the symbols they are generic bots. Last thing I will mention that if you replay a level, finish it first, you have the option to buy a bird at the beginning of the level for 200 coins. It will point you in the way off all the things you missed. Have fun!
I hope you play enough to do some of the challenge runs as well as the master challenge. I can’t wait to see someone better than me go through them 😅

This is a good looking game for sure. The fact that it's a straight up Sony ad in game form makes me wonder if this guy is gonna be the new generation R.O.B. the robot at some point. I can see them coming out with an AI based accessory in a cute, family friendly form.

Mighty Chewy must feel dumb. All he had to do to not get beaten was not throw those girders at Astro Bot. Without those girders, Astro Bot would never have been able to jump from building to building to reach him in the first place.
This game is a mario bite/troll game. All down to having Donkey Kong as the boss. I would've been more happy with it if it did it's own thing. They tried to out-mario mario, and off of that ALONE, I don't like it anymore. I was looking forward to it being it's own thing, too.
