At this point, Tawee Walker needs to be the guy. Major can be the change of pace sense he’s actually rather decent in space. Walker has proven to be the only consistent back so far and is the only one averaging more than 5 ypc. He’s earned it and should be rewarded.
Specifically for Walker. I know people get excited about home run threat guys, but I’d rather have the guy who consistently gets 4 to 6 years most times he touches the ball over guys who get mostly 0 to 3 yards with an occasional burst. Staying ahead of the chains is how you win games.
As for Barnes, there’s a reason he’s not playing as much. He’s not that good. For all the tools he has, he doesn’t break tackles any better than Major, doesn’t see the holes, and just kind of runs into guys. Perhaps, when he learns to run to daylight he’ll be better, but he hasn’t figured that part out yet. And Sawchuck isn’t up to speed yet from his injury.

@@zrod6348I’ve heard Barnes has been healthy. And he doesn’t look any different to me this year from last year. I haven’t seen anything special about him other than his potential. But that’s all I’ve seen is potential.

Well said, anybody that actually knows his position can see that walker is clearly the best back they have in that backfield. Major has all the tangibles of a great back as well just not that dog. Barnes have all the measurements of what you want in a power back but no skill set yet. He needs better field vision and no when to employ speed steps, hop cuts and pressures steps. And then they need to find different ways to get Gavin Sawchuk on the field by using his speed which would be lining him up outside, getting a mismatch and running outside plays, he’s not an inside zone Runner.

I thought I’d add my opinion, as someone who is studying professional lighting for theatre and also a freelance lighting designer, the lighting here is good. I can tell that there are lights positioned at the speakers and that the lights read for the viewer from left to right. The only note I would have is to use some Gels to make the speakers look more warm and use a cool down light above them them to provide some variety. Other than that it’s a bang up job. Love the show!!

Question for someone who knows this stuff and enjoys the content. If their lighting was not even close to being good, would you still listen/watch?
I'm only asking because I feel the focus on certian professional things like lighting can become too much when their audience doesn't care that much. They just want good content.

@@timothy_james_lee Yes, I would. I like Eddie and George’s takes on OU Football and I look forward to the Practice report/Game Previews each week. I don’t think that would change if the lighting was worse. Carey’s production on the RUclips side has only gotten better and better since the Isaiah Thomas Show a couple years ago and I’m sure he’ll make it even better in the future.

Getting really tired of the Barnes and Sawchuck questions, you cannot play 4 backs in a game and theres only 1 ball with so many mouths to feed, you are not typically going to have 300 yds passing and 300 yds rushing so if DG is putting up big passing numbers don't expect a big rushing performance as long as those RBs are running tough hard and moving the chains its all that matters not how many yards they had, Major and Walker have looked the best they are older and have paid their dues to be in those 2 RB spots, Barnes and Sawchuck are 2nd year players and have their whole careers to play and continue to develop, plus its been said they have been dealing with injuries, give it a rest already OU media and fans.

@kilhoffb says you that Major isnt as talented and doesnt have home run threat ability, have you seen Marcus Majors highlights? Against Florida in 2020 cotton bowl? how about his passing tds he had against smu this season 1 which was called back for OL down the field which had no effect on his td? you have 1 game of tape on Sawchuck where he played great and that was cheese it bowl, put that against Majors cotton bowl performance and all of his other game tape and Barnes and Sawchuck don't come close to his production plus he is older with more experience leadership and he's paid his dues, so to say Barnes and Sawchuck have more potential is subjective projection at best, Barnes has not looked good this year at all, I remember last year at this time people had the same energy towards Eric Gray then around game 5 he shut all the haters up, Marcus Major is this years Eric Gray, get ready for it.

  • @blakehorton6306

I think the problem is the offensive line but that they are hindered by the scheme. The rpo takes away their ability to block to the second level. We can’t go more than 3 yards down the field because of the blocker downfield rule. If we elect to go with the pass it’s a penalty. Gabriel hands it off, we have free linebackers 5 yards back that can contain the run to 2-5 yards each time. Furthermore I think Barnes and sawchuck are still afraid of their injuries and tawee and major can’t really beat lbs in between the tackles. Then Gabriel has made many questionable decisions in the rpo. It’s an all around issue that the scheme doesn’t help whatsoever. They are better talent wise than every team other than Texas on the schedule. If they would just line up, run zone, and punish other teams physically, we’d be 11-1 easily.
All that being said, a bit of team chemistry and guys seeing the field better will go a long way. We need our rbs to get the linemen to lead them after they have gotten the ball and we need dbs to see the field a bit better. We also need dg to read the field better. Finally we need to stop being so cute in the run game and just go out and beat people across the line of scrimmage
