If this really is your childhood home and you're really saying goodbye to it, I feel for you. Every home that you grow up in that you have to leave as an adult just kind of makes you feel so sad to leave it, but also remember that a new family gets to make those same kind of memories within the home. So don't be too sad, just rejoice with the fact that a new family will move in and experience the same happiness that you did.
I love how you had a chance to say goodbye to your childhood home. I didn't get that chance, and I still dream about it. I think subconsciously that house is the default "home" in my brain even though I haven't lived there for over 30 years. 💙
I thought, for sure, that you might end this with Anne's line: "Good-bye, dear little house of dreams" as she bent down and kissed the steps on her way out for the last time in "Anne's House of Dreams." That line always stuck with me as a girl, and I caught myself doing the same thing when walking out of my childhood home for the last time. You have referenced L.M. Montgomery before, so in that regard, you are a kindred spirit! Thank you for sharing a bittersweet moment.
My brother, sister, dad and i went to visit our old house when there was an auction there. They let us go inside the house since my dad built it. My sister and i both cried- so many good memories there. When we moved out ( 30 yrs ago) i scribbled on the inside wall of the closet where i thought no one would see it, believing some day I would come back there. And it was still there ❤
WHEN YOU PULLED OUT THAT RIFLE MY JAW DROPPED!!! Literally gasp! Fellow spinner here! Middle school through college! I knew I felt a fondness to you! ❤️💕 Color guard literally saved my life, kept me off the streets, and gave me a true passion. 🥰
I was given the gift of new owners being in the yard years later and allowing me to tour what improvements they made. I would have never done this for a stranger. They are better people than I, and I am/was grateful.
The circle!!!! Yes!!! My ten children all had an indoor circle to run around and now my 5+ grandkids enjoy one, too, when they come visit. Funny how useful it is in their play.❤
Awww, this is such a sweet video. I love how you can tell the difference between her character and her irl. I feel like crunchy non irl is someone I would love to be friends with. She just seems to have such a good energy.
Just in case you needed to know, it's OK to cry about the loss of your childhood home. I know you love adding humor to everything, but know that it's OK to feel all your feelings.
The overwhelming joy I felt when I saw the color guard rifle and how well you still spin it made my whole night. Color guard for life! Now I. Going to grab my flag and go out into my backyard and try not to smack myself on the head.
I was in colorguard in HS and on the rifle team. Loved it so much! Can’t tell you how many times I about knocked myself out, especially my freshman year.
This is just adorable and heartwarming. You should get a Pantone match for that pink in your closet. Also, that linen overall jumper looks way cozy. Can’t believe you snuck food into your room (gasp!) and touched toxic tires with those grass-guzzling grounded cute feet either 😉😉😁. You are a gem 💎, a treasure miss Emily! We adore you 🥰👍👏
This was sweet. I was an Air Force brat and an Army wife, married to an Army brat. Neither of us knew a childhood home, and didn't even buy a house until we were in our fifties. Sometimes I wish I'd had a settled life, because you can have such lovely memories of home and friends, but it is good to have our kind of varied memories too.
Can confirm, the moment you get good enough to drop spin on rifle and/or sabre it becomes such a mindless comfort. I remember me and the rest of my rifle line would hang out in the band room before games having entire conversations with people while also casually spinning the entire time. It always freaked the rookies out who werent used to it and expected us to lose focus or get tired and drop it. It always seemed to amuse the heck out of the upperclassmen though.
I love your nostalgic, whimsical way of telling your story. One of my favorite things is when your newsletter comes to my email. I feel as though there aren't many of us old romantics in this world left... I appreciate your way of taking it all in and then telling a beautiful story when you are through... It helps to see this stunning world through another's eyes. Often, it can help a person stop for a moment to smell the proverbial roses. I know it does for me. So much love from more of a "scrunchie" mom/gramma in Montana! ❤
Aww! I agree! It does seem like a place is just a place, but it can be much more! I did something similar when I was about 16yo. I went back to our old house, that we moved away from when I was about 10 years old. I pulled out all kinds of hidden stuff to show the future father of my firstborn son. I loved that home so much!
Oh I loved color guard too! Was never that good at rifle though only flag lol 😂 this was so fun to see you recount your memories and yes, I agree that all houses should have a circle. My siblings and I used to roller skate in our childhood home. Best times 😂
Fellow Color Guard girly here who also got excited when the riffle came out lol. We only started working with riffles my junior year, so I wasn't very good either. I only just got rid of my old flags when I moved pre covid and it was a bit emotional.
You made me cry. It's probably just because I'm very pregnant and hormonal but your memories touched me and woe a bunch of memories of my own childhood. Unfortunately I won't ever be able to show these places to my kids but I'll tell them about how I grew up and about the swing in my grandparents garden and... Dang. Crying again. Loved the video. I send you a virtual hug (definitely cadmium free).
I love this!! I squealed in my heart when you pulled out your colorguard rifle!!! I loved colorguard, too!!!! I can tell you actually were in it. The body remembers. I’s hard leaving a place that has good memories, but it’s just a place. You carry the memories with you. Keep the memories of your childhood home. And don’t necessarily go looking years later for your old house…..I did, and the changes they made to it were….extreme. It doesn’t look the same at all. I miss our big old peach tree, and pomegranate bushes….But I still have the memories, and I hope my kids have good nostalgic memories of their childhood home.
The rifle!! I was in marching band and had good friends in colorguard. I was always amazed how they made rifle spinning look so easy, just like you did!!
Everything just got infinitely better when she got the rifle out and mentioned color guard!!! Some of my best hours outside were spent spinning a flag, rifle, Sabre, etc ❤❤❤
as someone who shared a room with 2 others in a space almost a quarter of ur childhood room, that is the biggest room I have ever seen for one kid to grow up in. you are very fortunate to have had such privacy. I would've killed for that closet alone xD
This is so precious. I love creating little nooks and hiding places too. We used to have an evergreen tree in our backyard with big branches that hung down to make a “cave” and my sisters and I spent hours creating and playing under that tree. Eventually it got struck by lightning and it had to be taken down, but we kept the memories. 😊 love the color guard skills!!
I love how your videos are in a nostalgia lens. Really sets the mood. Crunchy. Sorry always wanted to say that 😅❤ Love your childhood home Nothing like home ❤
Thank you so much for sharing this video of your childhood home, Emily. I imagine it couldn’t have been easy to walk though and say goodbye but thank you for sharing your memories with us here on YT. As a teenager, I would hide junk food in my dresser drawers. Fritos, a box of Lucky Charms, skittles, etc. Of course I don’t let my kids eat Lucky Charms or skittles. Fritos are harder to let go of 😂 What you said at the end resonated with me, it was poignant. Also, you have crazy good rifle spinning skills! 💯
I 100% agree that a place is more than just a place. I used to live in a house up until I was about 6 or 7 years old. Unlike her story the house(s) I moved into afterwards I never have had that kind of connection with if that makes sense. The first house I lived in was the only house I have lived in where both of my parents lived in it together with me. (The reason we moved in the first place is because they were getting a divorce). This move was very troubling for me (and yes I am aware I was very young but still) and for the most part still is years later. My family considers me a hoarder, but what they don’t know is the only things I actually keep are things that have been in and I have memories with at that house. I will always have an attachment to that house even though as many people tell me, “its just a material thing.” I would do anything to be able to live there again (btw im not an adult so I don’t really have any control at the moment XD) but if I could ever afford it as an adult I would definitely considered buying it back, or if it never goes up for sale we have the blueprints somewhere lol. Anyways yeah saying goodbye and looking back on places you’ve once lived can be both nostalgic and sad, but I defiantly agree with her on the connection thing. Also I apologize if you took the time to read this I was kinda ranting a bit XD
Beautiful! I’m living on the land where my mother grew up and I spent my summers. The house had to be torn down but, like you, most of my memories were outside and that is the same.
Yes color guard for the win!!! I went back to my parents house before they moved out and definitely spun my rifle outside too! They even still had one of my flags.
I still miss the HUGE, four trunk mimosa tree that was in our front yard. To this day, I can tell if there are mimosas in bloom just by the smell in the air. It was beautiful and was the best shade, reading spot, jungle gym, play house, spot for the kiddie pool, etc. My parents even put our metal swing set and fisher price slides under its shade so we could play on them even on the hottest days without burning our butts. 😂
We're the same age, and we share similar sentiments for our childhood homes; I'm also a closet kid and can also spin a rifle!!! Funny how RUclips is always showing me people who are a lot like I am. I swear we would be great friends Emily, you're one of my all time favorite creators to share this platform with.❤
Thank you for sharing, Emily! I don't know what it is about kids and closets, but I definitely have memories of turning my closet into a play space, and I've heard stories from others about how they would play in their closets when they were kids
You're fortunate to have had a childhood home. My sister & I grew up as military brats & moved many times, approx every 2-3 years. I attended 5 different grade schools, 2 different middle schools & because my dad retired when i was in high school, only one high school. Don't get me wrong, it's the only life i knew & tho i missed out on longterm friendships & still to this day have a hard time forming them, we were given a wonderful opportunity of living in other countries & experiencing other cultures, which i wouldn't trade for the world!
I KNEW THERE WAS A REASON I LIKED YOU!!!!! Well besides being your adorable and quirky crunchy self. You were also a Color Guard girl!!!! i may have squealed a bit when you brought out the riffle lol.
In one house we lived in while I was growing up, in my room was the door to the attic. It had a “Harry Potter” cubby, that became my “den”, and I remodeled the attic as my “life sized doll house”. I loved that house!
Loved this video! My mom moved about a year ago after the passing of my father, so I just went through this. Such a surreal and bittersweet experience! And I am in total agreement on the circle and the closet! I loved running circles in my home growing up. Even as an adult I would walk circles when I lived at home/came to visit! Neither my home nor my mom's new home has a circle. I miss it! In my bedroom, there were two closets, so one was turned into a desk by the previous owner. It was so good for space, and I spent a lot of time sitting at it. When we moved, my uncle wanted to take out the desk for more closet space, and my mom and I put our foot down. Instead, it was renovated to make a better desk. 😂
You are my favorite content creator. I sent one of your videos to several people I know and they are hooked too.❤ You are doing the LORD's WORK. I truly believe that
This is a beautiful video! I've told my kiddos countless stories about my 2 childhood homes and neighborhoods. My parents still live in the one house, and we drive through the other neighborhood a lot. I wish I could tour that home and show my kiddos the places from my stories ❤️
Aww thank you so much for sharing this with us 😊❤ I can definitely see little Emily enjoyed this house to bits. And there's blueprints for what you did with your adult home to give the boys a similar experience!!! Farewells are always difficult 😢
I 100% agree in the "homes needs to have circles"! My husband wants to convert our home into an "open solution", and I absolutely HATE the idea! We have a toddler, and plan in getting another kid soon. Toddlers love to run laps around the house - I too did when I was little, and I had a good circle: going through the kitchen, dining area, living room, a guest room, and then back into the kitchen again. I ran laps with our dogs through the house, and they loved it too! I too had a similar closet space, which I loved, and I KNOW my toddler would love! She already tries to find hiding spots, and I really wish she had some. Modern homes tend to be so damn boring and less practical than these homes, where the building solutions were much better thought through ❤ I totally get why you loved this home ❤
Few years now we moved from my childhood home and they fixed it up and before was put up for sell we able to sneak in and look it and i got so emotional seeing it all the same and yet different
I saw the Google Maps overhead of a house I lived in. It never hit me just how small that house was. Like 650 sq ft, with 4 of us. I lived lifetimes in that house. Yay rifle team! So fun!
I would feel the same way if my parents ever sold their house. I actually live in my great grandparents house, a house I practically grew up in. My husband and I have changed a lot about this house and even that was emotional for me.
I do feel for you, having to say goodbye to your childhood home. But that running in circles part...and seeing the solid brick fireplace around one corner... The possibility of busted toes and chipped teeth was palpable.
You can tell the love in a home by the tiny stories one can tell. I think this is my new favorite genre, hearing people talk about the specific parts of their home that brought them joy. Thank you for sharing this with us, it made my soul feel calm in a way, I really enjoyed the video. I hope everyone is having a good day 💜 🤟🏻
Im moving into my first apartment soon and its very emotional.. I wish you the best on your journey ahead and remember... a bird pooping on you is considered good luck!
We have an Ikea armoire in our living room to be a little nook for our children... And they definitely do not use it as much as I would have used it if I had had something like that as a kid. I spent a lot of time on my closet, pretending it was my own room.
I can't really imagine living in one place for years, we moved. A LOT. I have dreams set in my granddad's house in Mississippi all the time though, that's the closest I get.
That riffle spin was on point! You go girl!! 😮😮
I just had to leave my childhood home and this was really helpful to read
Was I the only one jumping of joy as I finally left my childhood home?
Love seeing authentic videos mixed in with your content 💙
Junipers mother would have died over your Zebra Cake Obsession
I also loved zebra cakes. But my ultimate favorite was butterscotch krimpets
I love how you had a chance to say goodbye to your childhood home. I didn't get that chance, and I still dream about it. I think subconsciously that house is the default "home" in my brain even though I haven't lived there for over 30 years. 💙
My childhood home from the 60s is where all my current dreams take place.
@@thekirksiffs5285whenever I dream I’m at home, my childhood home is where I’m at. We haven’t lived there for almost 18 years
I thought, for sure, that you might end this with Anne's line: "Good-bye, dear little house of dreams" as she bent down and kissed the steps on her way out for the last time in "Anne's House of Dreams." Jason, for sure would have. ☺️
2:53 the gun twirling gives off such powerful vibes, I love it.
This is such an exciting video, I love sharing in the emotional journey!
I know! I want to learn how to do that!
Its called a rifle btw
My brother, sister, dad and i went to visit our old house when there was an auction there. They let us go inside the house since my dad built it. This actually brought tears to my eyes. My dad just passed away and I'm selling my childhood home...💙 It's an emotional experience.
My condolences. 😔 Take lots of pictures of the house. I regret not doing that.
Thank you for the great reminder! I was waiting until summer to do that. And now she's here!💖
The revelation that she used to hide zebra cakes as a bedtime snack just warmed my soul!! Love you, crunchy mama!!
I was given the gift of new owners being in the yard years later and allowing me to tour what improvements they made. I would have never done this for a stranger. They are better people than I, and I am/was grateful.

Emily, I hope you live a long life. The world is a better place because you are in it.
The overwhelming joy I felt when I saw the color guard rifle and how well you still spin it made my whole night. Color guard for life! Now I. Going to grab my flag and go out into my backyard and try not to smack myself on the head.
Hope you kept the color guard rifle.
I cannot explain how happy it makes me to know you were in color guard!
Girl, I feel for you. And as a side note, you have got mad skills on that riffle! Way to go!
That rifle spinning took me back 😊 then I also remembered all the times I hit myself in the face when practicing with the heavy competition ones. 😅
This is so sweet! Our house has a circle and it definitely is fun for kids to run around!
This is my favorite of your videos. Thank you.
It was a beautiful home with those memories in it. 🏠🩷
Ahh!! I love that you were in colorguard! I was a clarinet in Marching Band!! ❤❤
I drive by my childhood home regularly. House that built me for sure. It makes me sad because they just don’t care for it like we used to.
So relate to the hop-up-on-the-counter tactic to get into cabinets
How your really good at spinning that rifle!

Flag line is my favorite, rifle and sabre are fun but in shows flag is the best
Fellow Color Guard girly here who also got excited when the riffle came out lol. We only started working with riffles my junior year, so I wasn't very good either. I only just got rid of my old flags when I moved pre covid and it was a bit emotional.
I literally squealed when she pulled out the rifle. Made me so happy to see color guard represented.

Love your childhood home

Holy moly Emily that's some talent 2:47 that is amazing
I am also feeling strangely emotional during this video 😢Thank you for sharing 💜
Thank you so much for sharing this video of your childhood home, Emily. I imagine it couldn’t have been easy to walk though and say goodbye but thank you for sharing your memories with us here on YT. Love this so much for so many reasons. Mostly just how authentically you, you are Emily. ❤
Glad to see you can still spin a rifle! A talent that never goes away! My daughter is now teaching her daughter those same skills.
I can totally relate!!! sometimes I still dream of my childhood house !! nice that you can go back and see it one last time
I love your channel! ❤what a cool house I’ve been subscribe since last summer Have a safe move!

Awww not too long ago my mom moved out of our childhood home and I miss it very much 🥹 thanks for sharing.
I know exactly what you mean. But that home will always be a part of you though you may not have access to it anymore. ❤
I still miss the HUGE, four trunk mimosa tree that was in our front yard. To this day, I can tell if there are mimosas in bloom just by the smell in the air. As a US Marine I have to say my jaw hit the floor with that rifle spinning.
YES!!! I WAS IN COLOR GUARD. I don't know what happened to my rifle but that was so much fun. Impressed at how good you still are 😅
Aww thank you so much for sharing this with us 😊❤ I can definitely see little Emily enjoyed this house to bits. And there's blueprints for what you did with your adult home to give the boys a similar experience!!! Farewells are always difficult 😢

Modern homes tend to be so damn boring and less practical than these homes, where the building solutions were much better thought through ❤ I totally get why you loved this home ❤
saying goodbye to my family home this summer too.. i needed to see this ❤️ ty
Alright..I love you even MORE for that rifle spin and that you were also a fellow Color Guard girly!!!😊
Your tour was so touching, but dang girl, you've got skills!! Wow!😃
As a band director, your color guard enthusiasm earned you another sub! Great videos!
I do agree about the circle. We’ve always had one. Love to see my daughter run laps
What a sweet video! I never lived in a home longer than 4 years until now, I’m 41 and moved into this house 6 years ago but I definitely want to leave
I just did this too. It’s weird to think I have no “home” anymore but I’m 33 have 3 kids and own my own home. I’m glad you got to say goodbye.
Few years now we moved from my childhood home and they fixed it up and before was put up for sell we able to sneak in and look it and i got so emotional seeing it all the same and yet different
This video made me cry. I’m 39 and going thru the same thing
I saw the Google Maps overhead of a house I lived in. It never hit me just how small that house was. Like 650 sq ft, with 4 of us. I lived lifetimes in that house.
Yay rifle team! So fun!
You still rock the color guard rifle! So awesome
This is my favorite crunchy video. Love it.😊
Yo, I was so taken off guard when you started spinning that rifle like it was nothing. xD Unexpected and beautiful at the same time! So much skill!
It’s so cool to find out you did color guard! It also was my passion and I wish they had an adult team I could join.
I would feel the same way if my parents ever sold their house. I actually live in my great grandparents house, a house I practically grew up in. My husband and I have changed a lot about this house and even that was emotional for me.
Thank you for sharing! 🌻
Our old home had a circle that the kids loved and I was so worried our new house wouldn’t. Fortunately it has an even better circle!
This is a beautiful video. Thank you for sharing it!
I do feel for you, having to say goodbye to your childhood home.
But that running in circles part...and seeing the solid brick fireplace around one corner...
The possibility of busted toes and chipped teeth was palpable.
Zebra cakes???!! EMILY!! 😂
Didn't peg you for a color guard girl but good to see you haven't lost your touch
Had to say goodbye to home- grandma’s house two years ago. I won’t ever go back because she is gone.
This hit me right in the Cadet Kelly memories.
I saw the riffle and imediently clicked! I loved being in color guard that was the only way my family could get me outside 😂
I can't really imagine living in one place for years, we moved. A LOT. I have dreams set in my granddad's house in Mississippi all the time though, that's the closest I get.
