A bugler played this at my wedding. Still makes my hair stand on end, just like the first time I heard it played whilst on parade at Alanbrooke Barracks, Paderborn in 1992.
Love this, these lads are never forgotten, every time i pass the Ballygawley memorial i play thjs at full blast ,, respect,, Lest we forget from a Royal Irish/ Udr Comrade
Served with the 1st Battalion in Berlin as a Warrant Officer in REME and am proud to have done so, I remember this piece of music being the centrepiece of a celebration after the demise of the 'wall' and prior to the 1st Battalions return to the UK with the bugles located around and above the parade square in Wavell Barracks, a stunning performance and remembered to this day and for the future.
Totally love this, gives me goosebumps,I sit on the beach a listen to it It tells me that life is beautiful and no matter what happens its going to okay.
Remembering my Great Uncle Pte Leonard George Holder of A Coy 7th Batt SLI aged 19, who fell at Ypres on June 13th 1916 alongside friends & comrades during an assault on an enemy trench. Never forgotten!! 😥
All ways brings a 😢 to my eyes. God bless the light division the best of the best should still be with us what a discrace dispensing the L I R G J Gurkurs.
Exactly the same with me - always well-up with pride when the haunting sound of the bugles comes in. I first knew this when I bought the massed bands of the Light Division LP from the regimental shop in Winchester back in '87.

This takes me back to Cyprus when the band played this at Curium Amphitheatre near Episkopi in (I think) 1982. Everyone sat enthralled for this, and it was made all the more spectacular by the lightning storm going on in the background over Akrotiri bay! Some memories stay forever - and that night was one of them.
I was born in Cyprus 🇨🇾 n 81, my dad was in 436 engineers.he talks about this being played on that night. It gives me goose pimples every time I hear it!
Remember first time I heard this was Light Div sounding retreat at horse guards back in the 80s RGJ. Army Cadet just learning the bugle. Swift & Bold. Love it..
I first heard this when 2LI played it at a concert at Lathbury Barracks in Gibraltar. They had bugles stationed a several points up the rock southern face. It was magic.
I seved in cyprus 1981 to 1984 i was RSM of 9 signal regt and I rceived an invertation to a Concert in Happy Valley Cyprus it was played with 1 bugle high up from the valley floor and the band on the Valley floor the sound that night has stayed with me for 40 yeays
I'm currently making a video of the inside of Alanbrooke barracks in Germany ( now its empty) , would there be a problem with me using this music in it? Regards.
