    I don't understand how some people hated Jo. Like in this scene she pulls out a bullet, stitches him up, and even makes a point to Dean that he can't save Sam if he's bleeding to death. And our known-to-be-stubborn Dean LISTENS to her and lets her finish her work even when he's still complaining. How many people in the show do you know who actually got Dean to listen without having to physically force him to and can get him to sit still when he is in need medical help. Even Dean can see she's matured when she gave him the meds instead of fighting him again to let her go with him.

      I liked her but not what they did with her (& Ellen as well) at the beginning of season 2 when they kept Sam & Dean tied to the Roadhouse instead of traveling from town to town and I didn't like any of that drama in No Exit, especially the Impala scene towards the end of that episode. I really liked what they did with her in Born Under A Bad Sign, Good God, Y'All! and her appearances after that. I think it would have been interesting had they brought her back a bunch of times in season 3 to see how things would have gone if & when she found out about Dean's deal and how he was gonna go to hell. I think we could've gotten some good episodes with that. I'm surprised they didn't have Ellen & Jo help Sam, Dean & Bobby with Lilith in the finale with all the demons in that neighborhood. Then in season 4 they could've slowly gotten the "bandmembers" (Dean, Sam, Ellen, Jo & Bobby) back together after Dean was brought back and looked for answers. They could've been included in the stopping of the breaking of the seals plot of season 4 much like they were in the fixing the aftermath of the apocalypse plot of season 5 in episodes like Good God, Y'All! and Abandon All Hope.
      I think it would've been better if Jo was already a hunter when she first appeared and just happened to be at the Roadhouse to see Ellen & Ash when the Winchesters dropped by for the first time. That way they could've cut out all the crap from No Exit because once Jo was off on her own like in Born Under A Bad Sign and then later on hunting with Ellen as seen in Good God, Y'All!, that's when she was able to be utilized in a way where it didn't hold back the natural flow of the show. It would have been really cool if Jo had a cameo in season 1 with the stuff that Meg was doing (killing off hunters) and then Sam & Dean found the Roadhouse in season 2 without knowing that Jo was Ellen's daughter.
      Maybe John could have been the one to meet Jo and set things right with what happened to her father by drawing Meg towards him instead. That would have been awesome actually especially if they changed the way Jo found out about what happened to her father. I remember there was a scene in season 1 where Sam or Dean made a comment to John about how John alone is more reckless with the yellow eyed demon & the other demons he dealt with than when the 3 of them were together. After what was later revealed to have happened to Jo's father, it would've been great to see his guilt about what happened on screen.

      @@wtcvidman For me this is just an excuse, it seems that on the show only men can be badass. Jo is just like Dean, in everything and yet they show the beginning of his trajectory as a hunter from another angle, through her story, in which he himself says that she did very well. Besides, the most in this series is the filler episode, I don't know how her eps influenced the flow.

    • @wtcvidman
      @wtcvidman 3 года назад +2

      @@luananova2851 Yeah. The main difference between them is that Jo was just getting started when we saw her while Dean had been hunting since he was a kid and got weapons training from his ex-Marine dad. What made me sick is how they later on called those characters like Krissy & those other kids in season 7-8, Charlie, Jack, Claire, and other characters hunters when are not & were never hunters. If Jo, who had a much tougher upbringing than they did, got into the trouble she did in No Exit, Born Under A Bad Sign and other episodes we saw her in, there was no way those other characters would survive. They would've never survived the Kripke era back before monsters, demons, and angels were severely dumbed down into jokes of their former selves. By season 5 Ellen & Jo were believable hunters. Even some later characters like Annie Hawkins (from Of Grave Importance) and Tara (from First Born) were real hunters compared to those unrealistic characters I mentioned above. It's a shame Annie & Tara were killed off so quickly. Even though they were post-Kripke era characters, they truly felt like Kripke era characters with the gritty background they had and the way hunting weathered them into who we saw when they appeared.

      @@wtcvidman I think it's sad that she was removed from the show for so long. Would be better to go showing her development between one episode and another from seasons 3/4 until the day she died in season 5. Jo knew how to use a gun since her father died so she kind of has already been was swallowed up in this hunter environment without realizing it and that's why it was so natural for her to continue in this job. I think the writers, unfortunately, only removed she from the series because of misogyny mainly by the public.

    1:45 The moment where Dean realizes he has feelings for Jo but he can't be with her because it would put her life at risk and he can't take her away from her mom like his dad took her dad away from them.

      In the beginning of the show they were running on a very low budget because no one knew if it was gonna last, so they didn't wanna put too much money into better production. Although i absolutely loved the earlier seasons because of the storylines, acting and chemistry between the cast, Supernatural was hard to watch and often times even annoying because the lighting was so dark. Then again, the darkness could have been because HD technology was still fairly new compared to what we have now.

    • @wtcvidman
      @wtcvidman 3 года назад +10

      @@joshburns4611 Well it was like that still in season 5. I preferred those seasons not just because of the amazing storytelling but also because I loved the darker lighting and feel of the show. It was appropriate because it made the series so much more gritty. I hate the crap they added later like the stupid glowing eye effects for Lucifer and other angels. The only ones who ever needed them were demons since they had the colored eyes. Angels were always best as they first appeared. Lucifer was way scarier and more serious before those unnecessary effects and before they turned him into a joke/clown in season 7. Back in the days where he was no-nonsense and instead of joking, he had an aura of hopelessness around him for those who crossed his path. Jared's portrayal made him seem especially bleak.

    Yes, I know! It's supposed that Jo was to be at the end the love of Dean (like a true love), but the director did wrong for several stupid reasons. I hope she comes back to life so that the two can have that opportunity that never came :)

      Charlie is my most hated character in the series. I was so glad when they killed her off. I miss the great character development the show had when Kripke was running it. Even though we barely saw/met Meg Masters without the demon in her back in season 1, I felt bad for what happened to her as she was dying from the fall she took. These days I could care less what happens to most of the characters that get introduced on the show. I especially hated how those of us who waited so long to get Missouri Mosely back were rewarded with our patience (pun certainly not intended).

    Yeah! I totally agree with you! I also love how Dean looks Jo in the minute 1:43. I thought they were going to have something more in season five. I hope they resurrect Jo, as the director put her as the love interest for Dean, they should end up together :D Thanks for your comment! ^^

  • @wtcvidman

    When Meg in Sam (MiS for short) showed up at the bar where Jo was working in this episode, she asked MiS how much like John Winchester Dean was because she definitely liked Dean but was hoping he wasn't overly obsessed with hunting (where he put others' lives in danger) to the extent John was. It's ironic how here after Dean tells her that he'll have no part of getting her blood on his hands, she's relieved that Dean is not like John in that regard but how at the same time disappointed because it means he won't pursue her, which is why she says "No you won't". The family curse at work.
