I have three 122mk3, one Zx9, one aïwa 009 and one very good Teac V970x....Each of these decks sound wonderful but in terms of reliability, heavy use and repair, the 122mk3 is the top of these deck and for say that, i know the mechanics of all these deck very well. The Tascam is built to last and easy to repair and calibrate and this philosphy is similar for the Teac. It's just my opinion because i can compare them !

Nakamichi is not pro, studio not used NAK. It's too cheaply made with delicate parts, and not neutral sound. Revox/ Studer is much better than Nakamichi

Nakamichi never produced ProStudio decks , tape never ment to be used for Studio recordings , some companies like Tascam , Yamaha , they produced multitrack Studio decks ,4 track and 8 track , but they nothing to do with consumer segment , those tapes only playable on those decks , will not play on normal decks .
Nakamichi Decks are Very Best ever made , even their two head decks will beat soundwise 90% of others .
Needs to look very hard to find deck or decks which will come to Nakamichi level .
Cheaply made ?? Who said ? Most expensive decks . Delicate ? You mean plastic parts in transport ? There were reasons for those parts to be this way , 45 +- years old decks , every deck will have age related issues .
Plastic parts can be upgraged to metal , just need to know right people , everything can be elevated/ replaced , mech. & electronics . Naks do not obey IEC standards , every deck has own way of sounding , and Nakamichi are among best Recorders & Players
Studer /Revox , never had those , cannot judge ) I am sure they are nice machines .
Have opinion of people I know they had Revox and Studer but kept Nakamichis
Needs objectivity here , Higher price = Better product .
Mercedes is expensive because more in it

@@kravchuk007 You're wrong. Cassette decks were used in studio's for demo purposes, both from prospective artists and retail cassette producers. The point is Nakamichi deck's are dog's ass. Their recordings sound crap on other decks. The circuitry artificially boosts eq ranges to fool listeners. Nakamichi not reliable, incompatable, and inaccurate.
