There should be a national-level discussion as to whether we need to change type of exams for UPSC. ‘Human knowledge’ is so vast that if we start to learn about everything, there is no end. Exam pattern must include numerical reasoning tests, logical reasoning tests, personality tests, situational judgement test etc. followed by technical competency in their area of interest or a similar process where it is tested how an individual will think in a new emerging scenario as well as old scenarios. I don’t know what exactly should be changed, but we need some changes for UPSC exam pattern and include some better evaluation techniques. Also, many people want to become IAS/IRS for the status in society, which in my opinion, should be treated like any other profession like engineers, doctors, scientist or teacher. Is a scientist working on finding solution on climate change, finding new ways of producing electricity anyway less than an IAS? This sort of atmosphere of treating one profession like a king of district is very unfortunate. In a matured and informed democracy, every profession needs to be respected.

Ek responsible post me liye knowledge hona jaruri hai. Peon aur IPS ka exam level ek hi kar diya jaaye ya phir level easy kar dete hai.

There is a reason behind the toughness of this exam.. we cannot judge out County's status with others. Indian administration is quite challenging on its own due to many factors be it education or poverty or be it some people's attitude like people will pee on the wall where specifically written not to pee.
Soo taking a tough exam will ensure the people who are getting these post are not someone who can be easily demotivated or scared

​@@Aspire771 the real reason why exams are very tough in India as compared to other countries is population and no. of unemployed people. Here exams are not conducted to select an employe for the post but it is done to reject the mass and get the creamy filtered layer.

I respect her for what she has achieved and all those who achieved ranks in years before 2020..
But after 2019 exam UPSC has changed everything.. Even the elimination technique is also misfiring gun now.
If you clear prelims, you can guarantee a selection, but up until that it is just trial n error. There is not definite way to clear it.

So true....jokes apart I have seen her interview and she always says that "be a little curious" she is just showing the positive side that how you can find out about more things by being curious... But if an overthinking person like me starts to find out about each and every single thing then not only it will confuse me but it will take a vast amount of time...for example if see some animal name in the newspaper then I start searching for it then I know about its background and whether it's extinct or not and where this is found...how it is useful etcetera etcetera....and if I also write down all these things then trust me I'll make a whole 2 or 3 page notes only about an animal....at this rate how am I going to complete the whole newspaper....let's think that I completed the whole newspaper but saw that I wasted my whole day only in current affairs....bruhh sorry but it's not the "best" way to cover the current affairs... everything looks good only when it is limited...yes finding a little more about things are good but there are many people who would waste most of their time by using these methods.... that's why curiousity is only good when it is in a limit....and remember that "curiosity kills the cat."
