Absolutely beautiful performance of a captivating song. This is history being made. Years and years from now someone will ask to hear what good music should sound like and this is what they will hear. It's so nice to see Dave Rawlings bust out like this, but then we always knew it was in there. Great performances are the order of business in the world of Dave, Gillian, Ketch, Willie, Morgan and the other members of OCMS and their friends. Don't miss these great people perform their work.
We saw Dave Rawlings Machine in Bristol, TN in June 2010. What an awesome show - it will always be one of my favorite concerts. I love Friend of a Friend - it's a such a great collection, and it should have one the best album award in September in my opinion.
Love it Love it Love it.... We can't stop singing this song, and have played our version to many audiences across Australia...... There are many folk that are hanging for you to Tour Down Under..... us included xoxo You would really go down a treat at The National Folk Festival, Canberra which is on every Easter
Easily one of the best songs ever. I still get chills. That's Morgan Jahnig from Old Crow Medicine Show btw. So much great music goes unheard. These guys should all be huge and I'll include Marty and Cousin Kenny Vaughan too. This was shot in Nashville and Corporate Nashville should be ashamed for what they have done.
Terrific . Though I have to agree it has a riff from the 1970's Chi-Lites smash 'Oh Girl' "I'd be in trouble if you left me now" - but where did the Chi-Lites get it from ? Good music spawns good music.
Fall down great. Who is the bass player? I was in N-ville this past week and saw him playing behind Kenny Vaughan and Marty Stewart at Ernest Tubbs, which by the way, was also a musical event for sure!
Music like this needs to be played on the radio. Bring it back!

I love Ketch Secor's bass vox, amongst everything else...

Love it! :°)
Music as it's supposed to be - pure and honest..
@danielschaben
I just listened to the Newport recording and its brilliant!
Is it just me or is Dave Rawlings channeling Levon Helm's look circa '68 here or what? Gillian and OCMS are one hell of a backing band. Sweet, thanks.

"better late" than never...
Rawlings plays a 1935 Epiphone Olympia
That guy in the background is one miserable looking git watching these legends making beautiful music I would swap him in a minute !
I want to give them the microphones I no longer use. They need them.
I have tears in my eyes from laughing so hard at those stupid hip swaying dance moves they all are doing..
Sounds like something from the big pink.
what git-fiddle is that he's playing? blueridge?
@littleamen - I'd absolutely agree if it weren't for The Decemberists stealing the year for me.
Dave has hat hair
They missed a trick with 'pants on fire...'
no hat D:
Gillian looks anorexic. Brought tears to my eyes to see her like that.
