The Avatar OST really breathes Horner. The quality and lushness, and those familiar tones (read: the sad halfstep motif) which you can hear in his other scores are there. Just beautiful. Simon did an amazing job on the technicalities. Big and bold percussion!
He's collaborated with Horner from Titanic to his death and finished a lot of his work posthumously. So it's safe to say he's intimate with the Horner formula.
Nice music!:) I really like the sound of the string instruments! Does anyone know which plugin he uses for the string instruments? We are using the hollywood expansion from reFX and damage & action strings from native instruments. 24 videos so far:)
94lolface I don't really understand your point. Composers won't have the same needs than Mixers, Producers, Beatmakers, SongWriters, etc.. they're all different jobs and for that reason, they don't have the same needs. Obviously, today any DAW is capable for most people, but once you try to accomplish some very specific job, some DAW might get the job easier and faster than others. Protools is generally used by sound engineers in studio, not that much by Composers that generally prefer Cubase Pro, Logic Pro or Digital Performer. Most of the time, the only why they keep a side computer with Protools is only to easily deliver their music stems in the format that will be used by Mixer guys. FL Studio, such Ableton Live and Reason are often used in electronic music by producers and beatmakers these days. I hardly ever see any Composers using them. Again scoring a movie or tv show is not the same as making a radio or club hit.
This guy Not James Horner😣😡. And he did Not Composed any other Movies, Like Apollo 13, The Spiderwick Chronicles, Apocalypto, Balto, Aliens and Many other Movies that James Horner did.
Great video! Love the music. However, I just cringe every time he moves the mouse against his music keyboard. "Click-clack! Clicketty-clack!" Give me a touch pad, any day. :)

+Phil Smith the thing that almost every composer and music mixer uses for some reason
94lolface Mixers, yep... pretty much. Composers? Not so much. Most of them use Cubase Pro, Logic Pro and Digital Performer.
Phil Smith Arent these composers too? (almost all composers and mixers and anime mixers have this on their screen). What about fl studio?
