Blair had a huge working majority of over 160 at the time (I don't know how far you'd have to go back to find a PM with a majority as large as Blair's during his first 2 terms). Had he lost this vote, it would have been one of the most momentous events in parliamentary history, and of course he would have resigned.
That studio set never really looked right, it did in 1999 when new, a sign of the times of much worse things to come. At least we had the same 1999 theme tune which was revised in 2008
The 2003-2006 studio design was not great. It is a shame they didn't just keep the December 2001 tweaks made to the original 1999 set. What do you think? I liked the addition of the extra red panels and a smaller desk, with the window into the newsroom slightly tweaked. They could have kept that design going until May 2006 relaunch. Remember they kept the virtual studio for 6 years without any tweaks or changes in the main design whatsoever. What do you think?
@David Boothroyd Hi I'm sorry to bother you but I was just wondering if you could kindly upload any Daily Politics shows from 2005, especially if it is from the general election of 2005 please?
1:20 - Now that was a nice fake newsroom backdrop for the 2003 new set launch. Shame they had to cock it up in 2005 with the God awful replacement backdrop.
Big up asad ahmad and london crew

Wow, no Middle East news, that is a miracle! I couldn't remember much UK news at the time when I was a pre-teen. This vid is an escape as a brown kid.
Tuition fees is one reason why several Labour MP’s lost to Liberal Democrat’s in 2005.
Ironic

The 1999 BBC News branding looks so otherworldly and alien for its time!
