    This is a massive problem for me, for a while and I have been watching too much utube, I definitely agree with you on several points such as: having a designated spot for your phone during the day and during bedtime; stop notifications etc.
    I want to focus and set an example for my sons, because at the moment I’m a stay at home dad and also I don’t want to distracted and do things with them and for me.

    This video speaks to me much. I can take a break from most social media and then RUclips becomes my scapegoat for it. This video helps a lot. But I figure that taking a break from RUclips or even just change how I use it/how frequently I use it will make a huge difference this year 2023. And I can connect more with the one who created me.

I do admire wonderful ladies. 56 years old widower, I appreciate my wife dearly. Life is great, I do thank the universe for guiding me on a daily base. There is so much love for all to share. First of all, I loved the tips! Thank you. I've been working on digital minimalism and irl as well tbh. I barely watch TV and have been trying to use my phone and laptop less, except for work. I'd like to ask, though, how do you keep up with the news? Or you don't? I think it causes me a bit of anxiety but i feel like i should be up to date with stuff... What's your tips on that or could you make a video on it? God bless!

    • @YesiIbarra
      @YesiIbarra  12 дней назад +1

      News is something I generally find out from other people. If there’s a topic I care about, then I may look it up, but most things are outside of my control, so I don’t see the point in me knowing and worrying about something I can’t change.
      Like COVID for example, I worked on a COVID ICU unit during that time.. the LAST thing I wanted was to hear all about it OFF the clock.
      It was definitely better for my mental sanity not to follow the news.

      My friend, it sounds like you’re in major need of a social media fast. This is something I do as a creator from time to time. I delete my RUclips, download a good audio book (to keep my mind on something else, something of growth) and set a designated time to go without it.
      Personally I did it every weekend for a while to get a break from it (because it’s my job) but i eventually got used it and didn’t miss it at all.
      It’s hard at first, but SO worth it. Try it out!

    I find that turning on grayscale on my device really helps me reduce how much RUclips I watch. For informational videos, I don’t mind watching them in black and white, but entertainment videos just aren’t fun to watch that way. It’s nice that I can still use RUclips to get information, but I don’t end up getting sucked in for hours. I turn on grayscale every other day so I can enjoy entertainment on RUclips, just not everyday.

    yeah the addictiveness is really crazy. I thought it was bc I was single and i live alone so i had lot of time on my hands, but I talked to people with busy jobs and children to take care of and even they were addicted to youtube and their phones and couldnt stop watching. So it kinda had nothing to do with how much time you have on your hands or what stage your life is in... it's just an addictive substance in itself like cigarettes or drugs and alcohol

    What else am i suppose to be addicted to or spend most of my hours on?
    My body needs 8 hours daily of sleep and needs to eat, so is my body a sleep junkie?
    Am i addicted to work bcus i work a little over 40 hours ?
    Am i addicted to informing myself bcus i like to watch youtube to keep educating myself on matters of all over the globe?
    I dont understand how youtube can be an addiction or a bad habit for me at least , maybe if you’re only using it for entertainment i can see why but im always using it to see the world

      You make a great point.
      An example I love is that water is necessary for our survival, however, too much water can throw off the salt balance in our brain and can be lethal.
      I think it all comes down to “how” it’s used, just like you mentioned.
      You seem to know what works for you because you are not using it for entertainment.
      Great point!

    My wife watches on average 7-10 hours of youtube every day. I am desperate. All hobbies and house errands grind to a halt giving way to youtube watching. RUclips addiction is a thing and could be very toxic for someone. Don't underestimate its power of destruction. We are actively seeking ways to cure it

    • @YesiIbarra

      Oh goodness.. that sounds like an incredibly difficult situation.
      Eliminating the triggers is so crucial. If she’s willing to work on it, perhaps she can try placing the phone in a ‘ksafe’ - a hard plastic box that locks for the amount of time you set it for.
      My husband struggled with video game addiction and we got rid of our television and game set - eliminating the ability for him to play. It was hard for him at first, but he is much happier now than ever. Our marriage benefitted greatly from it.
      My prayers go out to you and your wife.

    I have not even watched the whole video and cancelled notifications immediately and encouraged my wife to do so No more dings. Only immediate family can call in ‘silent’ time. Will also start unsubscribing from youtube except for special people I really want to follow. Tried this with email and about a year later my junkmail is vanishingly close to zero. I never like videos unless I actually love them. My liked videos playlist has less than a hundred videos. Unsubscribing from channels isn't gonna help much cause I spend hours watching videos from the recommended ones. I believe the only way for me is to not open the app in the first place.

    • @YesiIbarra
      @YesiIbarra  2 года назад

      In reference to ‘liking’ a video, I also mean ‘enjoyment.’ In short, RUclips has an algorithm to determine what you may ‘enjoy’ and that is why clearing your history may be helpful.
      Ex: RUclips is more likely to recommend similar videos if you watch all the way to the end, replay, or reverse during the video because it shows that you ‘liked’ or ‘enjoyed’ the content. But if you think not using the app at all will benefit you the most, then maybe try deleting it for a certain period of time. Like maybe try a 1 week challenge and see how you feel.
