I discovered the Van Gogh watercolor paints a while ago. These paints are one of my favorites. The colors are very vibrant and of excellent quality. These paints are a better brand of watercolor paint than Winsor & Newton Cotman paints. In Canada, they are very inexpensive to buy as sets or open stock. In my art store Delta Art and Drafting Supplies they sell tube paints for only $5CDN per tube. There is an artist on RUclips Paul Clark who loved the paints when he reviewed them. The palette of the 24 sets is one of my favorites. You can take the pans out and move them around or add another pan from one of their other sets. They have some unique colors in their sets.

Thank you for the side by side comparison, it was interesting to see the Van Gogh pigments next to Sennelier, Schminke, Daniel Smith and Windsor & Newton pigments.

I don't think van gogh would be happy when a company is using his name to represent a student grade paint line up. Nevertheless, thats a nice and neat pallete. Could you take away those half pans and pour fresh paint inside?

If you like the palette there is no reason you can't take the pans out and put your own tube paint inside the hole. Try different half pans from other brands to replace the Van Gogh paint pans. I have discovered that if you don't like your paint beading on the plastic mixing tray use toothpaste to roughen it up. I hope this information is helpful to you.

IMHO, they're actually Studio grade. Between student & pro; while closer to pro.
