All very interesting, thank you.
Thank you for the video and the share. 😀
Sorry to hear you got sick, too. It's been a rough Autumn for folks.
enhanced electro magnetic pulse designed to circumvent shielding but only targets weapon systems?
It's a shame the box set doesn't include subsector maps. I know they are available on the Mongoose site, but a sector construction kit with no subsector maps seems a little less than stellar (dad joke incoming).
I agree. There is also a mismatch between the hex arrangement on the free pdf subsector map and travelllermap.com and books.
@@RPGImaginingsRight?! For such a great product line, it is almost...almost...like they delight in taking an apathetic stance towards proofing and editing.
Would a nebula interfere with Jump drive like the 100 diameter limit? Could a nebula light years across have a Jump limit diameter 100s of light years across?
Don't know. I suppose it would depend on the density of the Nebula. As Referee, I would just make a call on it based upon what I felt was narratively appropriate.
The humanpeople you describe, would have a specialist social class that does long range scouting and alien interaction out of curiosity. Not having one would lead to disruptive behavior in the society, since theres always someone who thinks/feels different... and regardless of how enlightened and pro-development that society would be, people who think different are treated different. My point being, there would be a class smilar to the scouts in this society, it would just be kind of sweeped under the rug. It exists, but quietly.
Great suggestion. I'm not sure that I agree with that as the only possible outcome though. What I'm imagining here is that there is complete freedom of choice as to what one spends learning. So, even among those that think different, I see apathy developing toward those that think different simply because there is nothing stopping them from investigating whatever they want on their own. There would be zero impact on people from anyone who thinks different because everyone compartmentalizes their action. "People who think different are treated different" is not a foregone conclusion in a human society that takes a very strong different cultural path than ours. I'm pretty sure anthropological evidence supports this, but I'd have to check up on that. Regardless, thanks for the contribution! It's the exact kind of world-building discussion that makes ttrpgs interesting! :D
@@RPGImaginingsWhat I find super interesting in worldbuilding, are the cultural biases people bring with them to the table. What people consider to be "too strange to work" or "unreasonable". Ones cultural/social background gives us such a different view on things.
