Yes, that is correct. Kibi also could have not used initial hold on the final placement if he instead buffered either rotation direction to let the second L piece spawn, but his initial hold solution was a bit simpler.
Could 3:36 have been an impossibilitris? If you put the i piece horizontal to the right. Then put vertical z-piece and the J from the hold. Or would the spawns not allow that?
Since there were four cells needing to be filled in row 22, it was impossible. Placing an i piece in that position would cause a lock out, ending the ZONE.

Do you mean, like, how does one get a Kirbtris? Happy to give some tips / help. Basically first you wanna turn "Initial Rotation" and "Initial Hold" on in gameplay settings these let you spawn the next piece rotated, by holding down a rotation button when you press hard drop. And then, when building in zone, you want to pay special focus to the top rows of the field, to make sure you're always filling things consistently up to row 21. The border of the field extends up to row 20, so you want each piece to extend above that. If you have areas that only extend to row 20, think about which pieces could be used to sorta extend out to the side in order to cover these areas. Watching this vid and seeing how all the solves work could give you a sense of how to build stuff up there. Once you get to the final few pieces, you want to hold one of the rotation buttons (usually clockwise) to spawn every piece vertically. You can use the other rotation button to keep spinning your pieces. When the pieces start vertical, they take up less room. You wanna be looking for stuff where the final piece can clear a double or more. This doesn't happen often, needs some good RNG. It can often help to pause once you're near the end of the Zone (~ 17 lines), and look at a screenshot of your board. Think about where your next 6 pieces can go, and try to plan it out. Is there any way you can see them fitting in that clears up to row 21? Using MS Paint, or a program like Fumen, Fourtris, or ZTrix can help with this. Also, feel free to join the Enhance discord discord.gg/enhance (Devs of TE:C), there are a lot of people there who are happy to help with this stuff.

There are a few factors that affect how long your zone time is. The meter can be 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100% filled when you activate it, each higher percentage giving more time. While playing journey, if the time runs out, you can place a final block with as much delay as you please. In Zone Battle, the time you get in the zone shrinks as the phases progress, and the zone ends immediately when the time runs out, meaning you don't get that one last placement.

I swear your zone modes last wayyy longer than mine. I average 80 drops/min and it always seems to run out for me on line 19 or 20
