Fisichella sings "où se divine la présence" on a single breath straight up to the high C. Most tenors-even di Stefano, who of course has to do it to sustain a diminuendo-take a breath on "la." If you think about it, this doesn't make grammatical sense. The only other tenor I've heard do it this way is Aragall in his studio recording of famous tenor arias. I say it every chance I get: Fisichella, Aragall, and Giacomini should have been The Three Tenors.

I like Mr Fisichella a lot(especially his A te o cara), but for me, he is not even close to Di Stefano in sense of given emotions and control of the voice. People say different things about Di Stefano, but in my opinion whenever he wanted to put his heart into the character nobody could, and nobody can surpass him. Same with Callas.
+Ralph Zamoyski Much better technique than di Stefano. And I agree that di Stefano had a tremendously warm and wonderful timbre to his voice. He was famous for not protecting his own instrument.
Di Stefano was wonderful. He did sacrifice his technique for the effect though. He had the luxury of being able to do so because he could easily sing up to a high C with little or no laryngeal tilt in his prime. People who can do that have a very easy time early in their career but go into crisis if something goes wrong. Fisichella on the over hand is in his 70s and still able to sing high Cs until the cows come home and his technique is better than ever while his voice has become more dramatic. It's sort of like saying Fischer Dieskau sung rigoletto with more interpretive sensitivity than Bastiannini. Well yes its true, but DFD was not really singing opera.
Mi domando perchè Fisichella ha scelto questi repertori non proprio adatti a lui. Per la mia conoscenza che deriva solo da grande passione per me lui è un Verdiano. Mi piacerebbe però leggere qualche commento di esperti perchè io voglio capire come mai non ha avuto la carriera internazionale che meritava.
@@mariomario2825 Fisichella aveva una bella voce del tenore leggero,niente di più . dal vivo era così .Carissimo Amico, sono della generazione che ha sentita dal vivo i Tenori degli anni 1956-66 ... tra i Tenori i miei dei appartenevano all'epoca d'oro . quando i tre tenori sono arrivati sulla scena mondiale all'inizio mi facevano ridere con le loro vocine. e poi... e poi... la morte e' nulla ... cioè pian piano io il vecchio della professione mi sentivo spesso davvero triste quando parlavo della lirica ''moderna'' con Gino,Elena,Maria,Virginia,Boris ... spero che Lei conosce benissimo la storiella che racconta come e' morta la vera lirica italiana,l'arte più bella dell'universo ... cordialità il vecchio

Fisichella lo ascolto spesso e volentieri. Però l'osservazione di Bodiloto "Vocalità poco adatta a questo repertorio" mi pare accettabile.
