Paul, you may have missed a feature of this razor. The safety bar is different on each side. One is grooved and one is smooth. The grooved side is slightly more aggressive than the other smooth side. I find the comfortable setting, then use each side to give a slightly more or less aggression as I shave. For me this is a nice feature.
The Vikings Blade Emperor was my first adjustable. For me, I do pass 1 on setting 5 and finish the shave on setting 3. That Sterling brush is also one of my favorite synthetics. It is very soft and still has good backbone. My SOTD used Tabac and the Rockwell 6S with a Nacet blade (4th use). Post-shave was the usual alum, witch hazel, and balm followed by Pinaud Reserve Brandy Spice aftershave. Have a safe week ahead. And thank you Mrs. H for the beautiful bouquet!
Superb Sunday Shave Paul! Springtime colors in the den today, thanks Mrs H. Razor looks to do the job quite well, looks familiar to another adj tto I've seen. Used TOBS Grapefruit and Myrsol Plastic for today's shave and s DE89 w/Polsilver blade...wonderful. Enjoy the Sunday meal and the start to the new week.
Mrs. H. did another floral arrangement, lovely colors! So good on a snowy day. Delighted and overjoyed that you enjoyed the razor! Great shave, nice to know that you found a great scent, I have been meaning to stock up on Stirling soap, I must get this one soon. Do hope that today is another fun day together in the snow, be safe and have fun. Hope the videos turns out lovely as always, Paul. Thank you for the honor of using this razor 🪒😊🌨🏂☃⛄❄❄❄❄❄
Greetings from Middle Tennessee: A very nice gift Steve...well done. Paul likely has some other Tennesseans as subscribers. He's a very good guy. Did I ask you last week if you had tried the Facon Safety Razor? I have ordered one and expect it to arrive tomorrow. My Vikings Blade Chieftain 5BC in that same color is among my favorites. All the best, Charles K.
@@OG_Jack: Good Morning from Middle Tennessee. I am laughing at the quote which was varied slightly in the movie Birdcage when Robin Williams was giving voice instructions to Nathan Lane and said, " How bout them Dolphins? He was of course referring to the Miami Dolphins (duh). Happy Days! Charles K.
@@charlesk6814 He's sure is a great guy! Better than network TV. I have used the Chieftan and Facon, great honor to have Paul comment on these and use them. Hope you enjoy this excellent razor Charles.
Hey Paul great shave 🪒. I have the sample of this soap but I will be picking the full set soon. I also like Noble Otters Bar Bar too. It's a great barbershop scent. I highly recommend it. We got our first real dumping of snow this week too. There are some real nice trails near my home so we will be going out for a winter walk today too.
Hi Paul, greetings from Texas! Beautiful flowers from Mrs H; as usual! My SOTD, posted on Paul's Wetheads, reminded me of Chuck's Barbershop in Oakland, California in the '50s. Clubman Pinaud always has the memory for me. Be safe.
SOTD was yesterday and the lineup was Wilkinson Sword Classic razor, Farmhouse North shave soap and balm. Lavender WH, used my Shave Nation alum stick. All in all a very satisfying experience!🤓 As usual Mrs. H is on fire! Beautiful arrangement!🌼🪻🌹
Bravo Paul and Mrs. H: Flowers and Razors...nicely done...thank you. Paul, good job with that Emperor Meiji on setting "9." I certainly enjoy my Vikings Blade Chieftain 5BC (I think, the emperor's name is pronounced "maygee'). I always enjoy hearing you say that each razor should be appreciated for what it has to offer. Another of my favorite "Paul" expressions is something to the effect of 'wow, a great shave...it may not make me better looking, but it feels so "d..m" good. Okay, that is enough for this Sunday and please allow me to break with tradition and keep this comment short (no need for your to say "oh thanks."). Mrs. K sends her regards and as always, with my compliments and kindest personal regards. Charles K.
My wife bought me the Viking Emperor Augustus for Christmas a few years ago. I really like it. I have pretty much settled on setting 3 as ideal for me with a Feather blade. I up it to 5 if using one of the blades from a multi pack sampler I got off of Amazon.
First was I thought when I the flowers saw, Summer coming yeaaaaaah. I hate the winter from the bottom of my heart. Ok I know Winter is important also like all the other seasons but I can't have it. I got this razor kindly from Mr. MD for what I very thankful. Very nice shave Paul and have a great Sunday also thanks to Mrs. H.
Happy new year Paul! Great shave! Stirling was my favorite soap artisan until recently. I have found Bundubeard mutton tallow base that is phenomenal. I can’t recommend it enough. The scents are not anything close to BM, Sterling, DG, GN, AE, ir anyone else, but that mutton base is phenomenal.
SOTD: rockwell 6c on setting R2 with a feather blade, MMGP morning at the barbers soap (love this), Simpsons petrol head brush and 'fine acrutriments' bowl. Have a great day
Happy New Year Encore! I have a Vikings Blade Emperor that doesn't have a name(beyond Emperor). That means it's the Long Handle, Silver Tone model that has no color accents, just a solid nickel silver color. The Delta Echo_esque model is called Emperor Meiji and a 2nd model with a shorter handle ( Gillette Fatboy length ) and same 2 tone color pattern is called the Emperor Augustus. This is why I said that I have the "No Name Emperor". It's slightly harder to read the adjustment setting, on the No Name Emperor, but it sold for $10.00 less than the Emperor Meiji. And if, it's not already confusing enough, there is 4th model with the same adjustment and long handle but is skinny rather than thick. I think it has a different has a color scheme and It doesn't have Emperor in the name. Lastly, I prepared old fashioned meatloaf for dinner. It's snowing here too and I wanted to make a 3 day dinner supply...Tata😅
Good Morning Paul from the state of Florida , thank you for your videos and great shaves, Beautiful flowers 🌺 Mrs. H, wish you both a Safe & Healthy 2025
Great SOTD Paul. Not shaved for few days. SOTD Personna red T3 brush Imperial leather soap and aftershave. Fatboy set 4 Cer ve cream. MOTD SWEET TATWS CHIPS RIBEYE STEAK GREEN BEANS.
That Sterling is one of my favourites. Here in North America, not sure about the UK, barbers would finish the shave with a talc dusted brush. I’m pretty sure that is the scent Stirling was going for.
Gorgeous flower display by Mrs. H. great shaving video yeah i know that feeling memories comes to mind with some soaps scents oh we never used talcum in Denmark you nicked yourself on a pimple as well your left side by the mustache stay safe cheers.....Peter
Good morning. Beautiful flowers Mrs H. And nice shave. Ive always thought viking had nice looking razors, and usually rather a bit cheaper as well. And i love Sterling soaps. Have you ever tried sterlings witch hazel based after shaves? They are really nice. I think youd like them. Have a great rest of the wknd 👍
Glad you had a good shave with the Emperor. I tried the razor with so many different blades and adjustments, but I just could not get it dialed in, so I ended up getting rid of it. All the best to you!
The Vikings Blade Slim & Mild razor I own performs similarly to a Gillette Slim adjustable on setting 2, for my skin. The Vikings Blade razors seem to have a decent build quality, just not sure if they're constructed of brass or zamak.
Paul, I’m surprised you didn’t mention the smooth bar vs the scalloped bar. Even if to say, there’s no difference in one side shaving different than the other. I went to the Viking website to check, and the Meiji has the dual sides like my Augustus. Functionally, I cannot tell a difference. For practicality, I make the first pass with the scalloped side, then subsequent passes with the smooth side to get even wear on the blade and not predominately use one side more than the other.
Hi Paul Happy New Year. I was interested to see this shave as I tried to buy this razor a few years ago but couldn't find any one who stocked it. It ok ly seemed to be available in the US. Enjoyed watching. Best wishes to you both.
Hi Paul, I own one Vikings Blade razor, the Godfather Stonehenge. Love it! For the money, Vikings Blade razors are a great value. Happy New Year, Glenn

Why dont you shave with RazoRock equipment? Like Superslant or Wunderbar? They are very nice razors.
He's used razorock in the past like the SE Eco and DE adjustable TTO etc and their soaps/aftershaves.
