With some luck that young male could be accepted by him as a coalition partner, will be rare but wouldn't be the first time... It's a common behaviour as well and we have many examples today or fathers/step fathers who made or accepted other youngsters as coalition partners...Mapoza, Lubyebye, Charleston, the late Notch, Notch 2, etc.
He may be the father of some of the young females or the sister's of the pride. Remember there were about nine cubs males and females that grew up together.

And in all that Lionesses feel very uncomfortable in his absence bcz if he doesn't return and lionesses give birth then young nomad lion who r always in search of females will attack and take over the pride and kill all the cubs. The male's return is surely a relief for them.
Thats biological and physological trait that mammals have and Homo sapiens is not an exception, only the jealousy will not unite four wives around thier husband
