    A little about Ed….
    Ed is an elite cyclist, 2019 British Hill Climb Champion and former Under 23 British RR Champion. He has raced as a Continental level Professional Rider for one of the most successful British cycling teams in Japan, Korea, Australia, Canada, Azerbaijan to name a few. He is also a public speaker, coach, and founded the on/offline cycling community, Backpedal. At the start of 2021, the Discord community began, and plonked many of Ed's viewers in to a 550+ strong group of people that had many things in common. Not least wanting to explore the world and pedal their bikes faster!
    Ed coaches lots of cyclists in the online community too! If you are interested, email [laverackcoaching@yahoo.com] for information on the 1-2-1 coaching package and training plans, of which there are many and flexible options to suit everyone!
    Ed now prioritises having fun with my hard earned fitness and knowledge in the sport. Showcasing that maybe there is an alternative to racing for teams when you can race for yourself and your community of followers and brands. This RUclips channel is a docu-series highlighting what it’s like to be a cyclist in today’s competitive age of sport.

    Great effort! Which intervals / training efforts would you recommend to build 5 minute power Ed?

    • @edlaverack
      @edlaverack  10 месяцев назад

      All of them, is the honest answer. You want to be able to do as much volume/Z1 and 2 training as you can tolerate. With some VO2max and Anaerobic capacity work sprinkled in. Its a fine balance. There's only so far you'll go with no volume, likewise there's only so far you'll go with the intensity. Then rest really well and even having 2 weeks of virtually no intervals and lots of freshness and you'll likely smash a 5min PB out the park.

    Hi Ed, first of all congrats! Great feeling when the effort you've put in this past weeks give fruits.
    Q: Doesn't fuelling just before bed interrupts your sleep a bit? I always have that feeling.
    Also, I know you've already covered a bit your fuel but for a typical race like this, what do you eat the day before and for breakfast for fast short efforts?
    Again, congrats and keep the power 💪💪

    • @edlaverack
      @edlaverack  11 месяцев назад +1

      Hey Hey! It depends how big the meal is, this was a small one. You may find that carbs actually HELP you sleep, a HEAVY meal that might be high in fat could cause restless sleep and digestion issues though. I'll cover what I eat in the build up to the race in a video soon :)

      @@edlaverack ah also forgot to ask, what's your take as a climber on supplements like Creatine and Beta Alanine?

    • @edlaverack
      @edlaverack  10 месяцев назад

      Creatine isn't worth it imo. Beta Alanine possibly, but for well trained riders it has less of an impact. A supplement will only really work if all the other basic boxes are ticked and you can't find improvements from anywhere else@@joaoasilva

      You're very strong but what if you lost by a few seconds. I'm not so sure about these paper thin 600 gram frames that have to make up for extra weight in the braking system. A thicker tube does mean stiffer. But I also understand you have to make the sponsors happy.
