I’ve had my genuine Panerai for 3 years and I love it. But now looking at a clone for travel. Very impressed with the craftsmanship here. Seems a clean clone serviced and properly tuned by a master watch repair shop would make an impressive piece even better. Very thought provoking. Great video.
I have a fake Panerai 177 (which was around $300) and a real one (which was around $5.5k). Use the fake mostly for travel. The face and case and parts you can see are 100% identical. The fake's strap was very chintzy so I put on a genuine one. With that one change, I defy you to be able to determine which is the real and which is the fake, unless you turn them over and look at the movement. The overall layout of the movements is identical, but the finishing work on the genuine one is clearly better. Two shocking facts: (i) the fake seems plenty water-resistant; I've had it on in the shower and for snorkeling many times, without incident, and (ii) the fake is doggone accurate, running at +2spd if stored dial-up at night. Can't really beat that.
Original watch aficionados are panicking over fake Panerais. Its because NO ONE doubts youre wearing a fake watch since its a Panerai and soo hard to tell if its fake unless you let a pro scrutinize it. Unlike a Roles where even though youre wearing the real thing and people still doubt it.😂
Even though it’s a fake would you sell me this exact one? I am considering a Panerai but worried about the size. This may be a good test before I take the plunge
The fake watches are so well made these days it almost does not make sense to pay $10,000 for a watch only a watch repair professional with close examination can tell the difference. Some legitimate watch dealers have even paid thousands of dollars for a fake watch thinking it was real. When buying a used watch it's best to only buy one that includes the original box and papers.
I heard that the Swiss Wostep is very systematic watchmaking school. Other than that, you will have to learn skills by yourself through various books. Cheers :)
There are Panerai fakes out thete that watchmakers actually have to take the movement apart to tell ita a fake. Many places wont even buy that brand from you unless you have the original receipt. I dont that Panerai can even tell a fake Panerai from their own watch brand. Lol
It's a sad reality, but in order not to be fooled by fakes, we’ll have to collect information in advance about the watch he wants to buy and spot it well. Thanks for your opinion😀
It is no neccesary to take the movment apart, just remove the caseback and see the evident flaws of the movement (just you need to know about them. All them non explained in this video) Anyway, all the reps from Noob - H maker or KW/XF have external flaws to detect the fake, even without removing the caseback
@@ALE-os8nk have minor ... external flaws .... and if you don't have a gen to compare , it's impossible to spot a fake pam about this factory , impossible ... except the lume maybe for the noob
@@ALE-os8nk How many people when buying a watch take the caseback to look inside when buying a watch? I was really planning to buy a panerai this year but after reading around I have my doubts.
Easy to see it’s fake. The Pam 111 has a sandwich dial without the OP logo and a saffier glass caseback, so its not a Pam111 and the Pam 005 has a OP II movement and not the one on this video which is a copy of the OP XI movement, so it’s also no Pam 005.
I realise this my be a strange question. How good a movement and function is the fake Panerai? Is it a complete piece of rubbish? or a good watch in its own right?
The service on a fake movement by a professional made the fake Panerai even more difficult to spot. 😉 The fake movements often are quite okay regarding construction, materials and functions, but they typically are assembled in a hurry and thus working much worse than they actually could. This video isn't the only prove of the fact if the fakers were less greedy and more in details, in the worst case a fake would be practically indistinguishable from the real thing.
comunque funziona bene ed è ben assemblato, chi se ne frega se non èoriginale è un bell'orologio senza per forza dover dissanguarsi per poterselo permettere.
Misleading, The serial number is vaild on Panerai, The title of video shows pam 005 but the begining of video shows pam 111, the caliber Panerai caliber OP II for pam 005 is not this one either, it's different look, Anyway!!
Panerai's are so overrated and over priced and sadly they are so lazy as a company that their watches can be replicated to virtually look and function as well as a real panerai. Hublot is the other overrated and over priced watch company. And I own a Pan Lum GMT..... but it was not worth the money compared to my other watches
It seems you are working for the replica makers. Because these replicas are very, very, very good but you really don't explain the real differences. I cannot believe you don't really know what are the main and easily (for a professional) detectable flaws !!!

The easiest and quickest way to spot a fake Panerai is to Google the serial number on the back, if it’s a fake it’ll pop up numerous times...
Iiiiii
It tells me that the only way to know the watch is not a fake is to buy it from a reputable vendor. I'm NOT able to spot a fake myself.

This was amazing. Love watching the a-6497 breakdown. You have a surgeon’s hands.
Thanks for watching😊
If a professional has to strip it apart and magnify it 10x to tell if it’s fake then it’s a good fake! Lol
Fascinating. I was holding my breath when you placed the balance wheel! LOL Subscribed! I need to get mine cleaned and regulated as well.
Superb craftsmanship...

Did you clean movement bridges in ultrasonic cleaning machine? Did it affect blue paint in the engravings? Thanks.
I'd rather have crabs than wear a fake
Hi, do you have a shop? How do we reach out to you?
That is a Pam 005 not 111.
my fake panerai has a quartz seiko movement and looks the part and tells the right time for the last 22 years so a great investment

Papers and the box are easier to forge than a watch itself, so it proves very little.
Hey bro where can I get this watch and how much?
It would be great to have a voice narration. Don’t be afraid.
Thanks for watching😁
These videos without voiceover are so annoying.
How did you become a watchmaker? What course would you recommend to learn the trade?

Paneri still uses eta movements and claims “in house”. So - a fake of a fake.
Ive got a pam390 noob no one could tell its not genuine unless opened

No hacking seconds hand
Watch review followed by prostate exam?
the metal case is too shiny
Have the watch serviced if it's dirty.... $200 and it will run great
Yes, that's right. Watches also works well only when it's well maintained like cars😊
