I was lucky enough to get a Harley Benton HB 35 plus es335 copy when they came with the Wilkinson Humbuckers and they are phenomenal pickups. There’s no harm in having a guitar that’s makes you approach playing in a different way. Wonderfully played 😊👍👍
Wang dang that guitar got me in a stranglehold, leaves me in a state of confusion.. in a State of Shock!! And for some reason, an over-whelming hunger for venison.
It's the guitar that ate Dave! I was worried you were going to fall down the cutaway and never diddle a dum again! I hope en la France that les dums du diddlé are plentiful for YOU the host of the show for the good and wonderful people of THE TUUUUBE!
I do believe sir this is my guitar! 😂 picked up from corner cottage if I'm not mistaken! Great playing, as usual; Appreciate you taking the time to fix her up!
I always wanted one of these because of early Steve Howe. Yours is no disgrace. Saw Yes at Kingston Poly as it was called' then, saw him do the clap ( not on his ed175 obviously) . I went off yes after that album but that guitar and Steve's playing, considering how young he was... simply awesome. Before MrWakeman joined.
Yeah that's the one, and Steve plays the life out of his, one of my favourite guitarists , i'm a big Yes fan, early stuff the 70's and 80's but this Vintage sounds superb, mind you it's Dave, he could get a tune out of a string vest!
Yeah, i tried to like hollow bodies, but just could never bond with them. Pretty though. Thanks for the video though! Always good to hang out with Dave 😀
If you have some jazz gigs to help pay the bills - having a big ol’ jazz box of a guitar really helps to look and sound the part! Definitely a guitar that can earn some money, even if it’s not your thing. And it has a bridge humbucker, which a lot of jazz boxes don’t have gives some rockabilly tones you other wise could not get.
I really like your honest-to-goodness reviews. You have a great style and way of addressing the audience. This guitar sounds excellent. I also like your playing.
Sounds absolutely great, my mates got an Ibanez, virtually identical. That's a beautiful sounding guitar too. Lets face it Dave you could make a bloody Marlin sound Epic. :-)
Different style of playing with a jazz box, Dave. Totally different. Check out Wes Montgomery's "California Nights". Joe Pass & Russell Malone. These guys could/can really play. My favorite guitar happens to be a semi-hollow body - a 1996 Gibson "Chet Atkins" Tennessean (ebony gloss finish). I love Fender solid bodies - Teles & Strats, etc., but for me a hollow body is a Soul Sender. A Blues machine. I dig 'em the most.
Had the French Fries yet :) i could give you a fork and a spoon and you would kick ass, awesome as usual brother. Time for a France road tour around town.
Great playing, sounds killer. I had one of those guitars Dave and it was a bloody good instrument. JHS make great guitars especially the models made between 2008-14 before JHS introduced the offsets so they could expand into the US and not get sued by Gibson who sued them anyway. The brand is so underappreciated other than by those in the know. Because of this lack of appreciation and especially the older ones which have the correct body shapes which are especially good, you can pick them up for literally peanuts secondhand.
That does sound amazing, liked the jazz stuff as well , but from 12 minutes on ; ethereal , and a sounded a bit like Mark Knopfler Brothers in Arms , brilliant .
Darn it Dave, you played a jazz tune and I liked it!! (you made up for it with the awesome experimental ambiance) That guitar sounds awesome ! I didn't realize you were a Hobbit, I mean, and that's great, I just never realized it before now....
Hi Dave and again welcome to France mate !!! You rule , even with a massively fat guitar !!! Don't get trap in the guitar ,lol ... Now your playing : awsome , as always and I really appreciate you playing with a straight clean sound !! Plus GROOVING !!!!!!
I here where your coming from, inside it’s Dave but not a free Dave. If that makes any sense. Still nice to see you out of your comfort zone. Enjoy Sr. Dave
The guitar sounds nice but, that thing is huge!! My goodness it looks like you should automatically fall forward, face first from the size of it!! LOL!! Great playing Dave as always!! That guitar does sound good though. The last part was KILLER!

Dave, your playing in this video is so refreshing, really new and distinct.

Not sure if you knew, gent, but maybe you are thinking of a foreign country, a different land...one of thin byrds? ;)

It is beautiful and you can’t complain about the noises either!
Dave, I can tell it’s not your preferred style of playing, but you still brought the best out of that guitar. You’re a Maestro!
I do believe sir this is my guitar! 😂 picked up from corner cottage if I'm not mistaken! Great playing, as usual; Appreciate you taking the time to fix her up!
That jam was a bit different from your usual sound. I really liked it! It's incredible how versatile and malleable your playing is.
I look at that guitar and immediately think of Steve Howe
I thought of Ted Nugent when I saw that guitar - he loved Birdland guitars

That guitar brought out a very cool side of your playing Dave. Enjoyed it a lot.
Dave Simpson genius guitarist and genius inventor of the teleportation machine! From France to Blighty and back in seconds! 😂
Yeah, i tried to like hollow bodies, but just could never bond with them. Pretty though. Thanks for the video though! Always good to hang out with Dave 😀

Sweet little thing. 👍🇦🇺
Very good Jazz sounds, big guitar looks nice but those square corners would be a pain, suppose it must be lighter than it looks.
Yes, after your featherweight Hofner VeryThin it must feel like a monster.
It does “look big” on you. Nice jam!
Well smoke me a kipper for breakfast if it isn't ole Chet Simpson lol. Very nice guitar but only a Strat looks completely right on you Dave
That guitar sounds amazing
