I picked up one from Best Buy as open box and it came pretty much flawless. As for plugging it in directly to an outlet. What's the harm if plugged into a power bar? I have a new Sony receiver and it calibrated all my speakers and now with the sub, it sounds so much better. The open box even had the audio cable too. Even though I picked up a much longer separate one which I used instead.
really goofy question...I bought this used and it didn't come with the audio cable to connect to receiver. what type of cable is it? new to this audio stuff
Do you know why my subwoofer won’t work for the auto function? I have the same receiver as you do but my subwoofer won’t come on with the auto function unless I turn the volume up really high

Are your center and rear speakers ss-cs8 and ss-cs5? Thanks

Center is way to high above listening level
Would be better to have it on top of the CRT TV?
