Sorry, when they first came out they weren’t £750, I bought two in the 90’s, £190 with the rubber strap, £225 with the jubilee bracelet both from high street jewellers in the UK.
@@CasualWatchReviews you’re very welcome. That’s the sad thing about the ‘re-issue’ the original was a fun very affordable way into Tag watches, the new ones are definitely not that. However I’m a guy with thin wrists and steeped in nostalgia, I have four of the originals, full set as new, love them.
@@CasualWatchReviews no absolutely not! Four of the original issues by Tag Heuer, I bought them in the 90’s and still have them, all in original boxes etc. I had to Google who Kith were had no idea, but I’ve had a lot of compliments and memory sharing off people when they noticed my original F1, now it’ll look like I’ve just bought the Kith version. ☹️
I bought one of these in high school in the early 90s. I loved it. I paid $135 for it. I think this reissue is a HUGE miss because of the failure to update the size and the inflated price. Great video Sam!
A year ago, I bought an original nos from Japan. It was about $270. Very happy to have it now. But mainly it sits in the box for memories. I hardly wear it.
Your comment about it being worth the price because it reminded yourself about wanting one in the past and getting that feeling again made me smile. Great story on why you bought one. If "watch collecting" is only about price/ value/ specifications, it would be a very boring hobby. Take care.

Similar story here. Called up a boutique just to see what was happening and ended up buying the bracelet model on pre-order. They're £1350 in the UK. To those questioning the price, the current model F1 on a bracelet is £1500, and is also a quartz. Any quartz watch from a luxury brand bar probably Grand Seiko is way over priced. These were £200+ over 30 years ago, so unlikely to be under £1000 if they do release a TAG-only version. On size, I like that it's true to the original (pre-1990 they were 34mm). I've a 7.25" wrist and love my 36mm Explorer, so don't have any problems rocking this.
@@CasualWatchReviews Honestly, I don’t think it’s too bad of a watch BUT the price is a little ridiculous. It’s a 35mm quartz watch essentially, and for that price. I would just go for another watch or even a Tag Heuer 2000 on an aquaracer with some money to spare. I do love my little f1. It was one of the first Swiss watches I bought when I first started collecting because it was plentiful on eBay and the prices were amazing. Still are around for a decent if you don’t mind the battle scars. I feel that this release could have been done without Kith, but I understand the marketing with this product. That being said, a re-release in maybe a 37-38mm for perhaps around or even under $1,000 would be more of my cup of tea and I don’t think I would hesitate to purchase one. I do really love my little f1, and this release is a great “homage” to the watch that brought many people to love the brand.
Yep, I’m very nostalgic for the idea of the F1 from the 80s I remember it so well. Maybe they will do one bigger, I think they actually all sold out. Interesting to see some more reviews come in also, see what other people thought!
@@CasualWatchReviews I definitely would like to hear what others have to say. Unfortunately, so far it’s been negative due to the price and the Kith branding. I believe the love for this watch is strong enough for a stand alone regular tag heuer release with maybe some opportunities for better specs and perhaps new color ways.
I still have my yellow version originally purchased in 1986 by my Mom and Dad. I passed last year to my daughter when she turned 18 years old and watch still working as new (of course battery had been replaced so many times). $125.00 best purchase. $1,500.00 I would expect carbon fiber Tissot Sideral) , a case 38mm size (new small size for men). Hopefully Tag Heuer read this and make it (I will paid the $1,500.00).
It really does seem like everyone is hating on this watch purely because of the price and others not knowing who KITH are. I personally think the watch themselves look great with improved features and for any 80s child (myself included) seeing these advertised back in the day in glossy magazines is pure nostalgia, they were just a special and fun way into watches and Tag in general. I just think there is a lot to like here. Had it been £350-500, I think most would appreciate them. Unfortunately in the day of modern Collab and hype, companies will charge what they want as it will sell regardless.
My boutique close to me said they sold 100 pieces mostly younger clientele and Kith fans some it was their first watch so even if your not a fan of it its getting future watch enthusiast into the game just like the original did back in 1986.
Sold out. Guess many thought it was worth it. Fun watch. Watches are for enjoyment and if you have $1500 laying around why not $1500 for many is chump change.
Your Kith went the way of my Ranger. 🤣It's a good-looking piece though. It looks great on the bracelet and I think you went with a solid colorway. Congrats on the NWA Sam!
35mm was unisex/boys size. I would buy this for my wife or kid. That's about it. It looks great on your wife's wrist. They were $750 when you were a kid? In that case, these have kept pace with inflation.
Thanks for calling out the size, which I didn't really see in the regular watch press. While it's admirable that they were faithful to the original, that watch size did not age well. If I was a still growing teen with skinny wrists, it would have been fine. I don't think it needs to be huge, but 39 or even 40mm with that thick bezel would have been great. If they re-release these in a non-limited TAG Heuer only branded version, I think a 35 and more modern size option would be great. I just hope it's not $1,500. The crystal upgrade to sapphire and the strap being rubber vs. p plastic is a nice upgrade, but not worth THAT much of a premium. Anyway, I think all the Kith limited versions will sell out anyway, so they won't care what we think
