Literally less than 4 hours ago I caught my boyfriend of 5 years taking a photo of me without my consent and I 100% noped *that,* so you can imagine how I react when strangers do it! I don't condone violence against humans but if you choose to do that I can't be blamed for what happens to your camera. 🤷🏻♀️

Sharpay realizing that there's a sea of young, white, blonde women who can sing, act, and dance just as well as she can would have been a much better premise for the movie. Because then she'd have to work hard to stand out among them and overcome her sense of entitlement.
And just scrap the love interest entirely lol

It's so funny that they portray working on Broadway as "having it made" (contrasting it with "hard work"), when working in live musical theater is extremely physical work. And your reward is continuing to work hard for as long as you can! I'm not saying that acting is harder than blue collar jobs, but, if you're really "lazy", stage acting is probably a bad career choice

I think, as fabulous as sharpay's performances were in HSM, that was her big flaw as a performer; she kept sacrificing character to make everything suit HER (more pop, more glitter, etc). That would have been a nice movie to watch: her failing at auditions or even losing her job in a show because she can't conform to what's given to her. Just my two cents 💅

I am always amazed how Nick can rewrite a movie's plot, or give examples of how they could have made situations better, so quickly. And it's wild cause I always think his suggestion absolutely would improve the movie but it definitely isn't something I would have been able to think of myself.

She really does have a good voice too bad the sound engineer didn’t believe in it and overly corrected the pitch. This often happens when the voice is sped up or slowed down to a range that isn’t natural to the artist.
I could never been an actress, because if the storyline was this poorly orchestrated I’d be rolling my eyes and mockingly orating in every single line in my script.

But seriously, the actors I feel the worst for are the ones who are signed to multiple-season contracts in tv shows that become something completely different than what they started as. Riverdale is a great example, but even much better shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer had the characters doing really cringeworthy stuff in later seasons. Like poor SMG in season 6...

My sister used to watch this movie EVERY SINGLE DAY after school for about 2 years. She could mouth the words and do all the actions to it. It was horrible and I don’t remember a single second lol
Am I your sister? This movie filled me with joy when it came out. I didn't think it was "good" but I liked that it was cheap and cheerful. I liked the costuming and sequins and just felt like the over all film had an optimism that, while unrealistic, made it feel good and easy to watch.

Sometimes these traditionally “bad” movies are the most comforting bc it feels like an authentic continuation of your favorite character’s lives. It’s nice when nothing big happens, bad or good, cause it feels kinda like real life. Somewhat boring lol
This is completely irrelevant to the video, but Nick, your sense of humour is a breath of fresh air!! So many commentators veer on the wrong side of 'sarcasm' and just end up being nasty, but you always manage to blend eye watering sarcasm with a very obvious core of niceness! Genuinely love you lol
I apologize I usually don’t comment on RUclips but I totally agree. Nick is clearly a lovely person and they care a lot that they are criticizing the right things. I don’t find him mean and honestly I wish I had found his videos sooner. I appreciate you saying that :)
The best comedians are those who can make you laugh without being vicious or targeting certain groups (race, gender, etc) and Nick checks those boxes but he also isn't afraid to pepper in awareness for environmental issues and such which just makes him a shining example of what I wish all people could be. We can't all be naturally hilarious but we can all choose to care about the world. Just think if more people with large platforms did that...

Me, a dog trainer, here to take everything too seriously. Please never ever take a puppy home at 6 weeks, 8 weeks is the bare minimum, puppies removed from mom & littermates too early statistically show reduced bite inhibition among other higher risks of behavioral issues. The villain is always the most interesting character in a Disney movie, but that doesn't mean that there's a good story to tell there. They can't all be Maleficent lol.
I really wish that they gave Maleficent the chance to become her animated self. Angelina is amazing, but her story behind her sucks. Stop trying to humanize them, they are loved because they are evil

And I thought it made sense she could have redemption because... she wasn’t THAT evil when it comes to animated Disney villains. She was the big baddie and had cool evil magic but she didn’t really do much evil besides put a princess to sleep. And of course the dragon thing but even then. Like Cruella, Cruella DeVil is a terrible person and evil. And we love her for that too.

She is the most powerful fairies in Disney history, but gave her such a generic story in live action. You could have her just grow into her power and discover her inner dragon. But instead they give such a generic story 🙄.

@@Sarahonwheels In the not final Disney animated version, yes her curse was worse. And because she wasn’t invited to a party. Both things are still rather low compared to other Disney villains. I’m not saying she isn’t a badass evil character, she is, and she’s one of my favorite villains because she’s so cool, however what was cool was that the live action gave her a better reason than not being invited. Originally we all know Mal doesn’t care for the kid and all that but it was cool to see. And she is still prone to pettiness like her original animated self. She is known as the mistress of all evil etc etc but when talking specifically about her actions in the animated movie... she really didn’t do that much evil. She didn’t do much of anything. Cruella, Dr. Facilier, Scar, all did relatively *more* evil in their respective movies. That doesn’t lessen Maleficent of course, just saying it was great that the movie added more to her. Especially in the second movie where we get more info and extend the universe which was amazing! Not saying the original or any of this is bad either! Just my view on why the movie was awesome in itself too
@@terra_the_nightingale135 I liked the sequel, but I wish that she was given a better reason for why she became evil. The whole cast (like Stefan and Leah, and the fairies sacrifice the original characteristics of the animated movie, just so that Maleficent can be the protagonist. I love love love Sleeping Beauty so much and it was disappointing to me that disney chose to go that route with Maleficent. It could've been great if you made it like the teaser made it look.
Sharpay's an interesting character to me. In HSM, she's the villain, then is forgiven and becomes friends with everyone only to turn around and have the exact same character development in HSM2 and HSM3. Reminds me of the villain in Camp Rock too.

I agree, the film would've worked so much better if it was about Sharpay learning humility and realising life won't hand her things because she simply wants it. It's not high school anymore, and her coming to terms with this, going to auditions, learning to dance with other students, understanding that she isn't automatically the 'star' whenever she goes - is an important lesson for kids.
I could have used that exact story line as the drama club star from my middle school who then went to a performing arts high school where I realized I wasn't shit lol. If Sharpay could have been humbled maybe I could have too and not wasted 4 years trying to keep up with a lot of broadway level musical theatre kids haha.

They literally could have just had a movie where Gabrielle, Taylor, Ryan and Sharpay in college and have Sharpay struggling as a Theater/Performance Student. Maybe have Ryan decide he wants to major in psychology instead of theater and Sharpay takes that as a betrayal or something. Like just keep the school setting while giving Sharpay her own spin on that setting. Who decided that Sharpay’s movie should be a dog story 😭
But then they'd have to pay all of those actors, too 😂 It definitely would have been nice to see her and Ryan exploring their dynamic and going to school, though!

Then you could have Sharpay feel all alone b/c even Ryan’s no longer with her & she has to do the theater stuff all by herself. Like you can just have her say that Ryan joined elite internship. Or in the end, have him right a letter about how he’s happy he’s no longer right behind her but still proud of her anyway.

1) I find it absolutely hilarious that Sharpay wanted the leading role so badly that she tried to sabotage Troy and Gabriella. Her and her twin brother would've been playing love interests if they had been cast in the play. I never se anybody talking about how creepy that would've been.
2) I don't think Sharpay was really thinking in the HSM. She was mad because a new girl and the basketball star wanted to try something different but she was scared they wouldn't be commited. So instead of giving them the chance to prove her wrong she automatically jumped to trying to make sure they wouldn't be able to go to call backs by rescheduling them to be on the same day as basketball and the decathlon.

9:32 Okay don’t get me wrong, I know absolutely NOTHING about Broadway (the only stuff I know I learned from The Nanny 😂) but if she is soooo opposed to hard work, then why is her dream Broadway? Like I said I don’t know anything really, but I would imagine like most performers they have to work even harder than working a regular job at a country club? I’ve seen RUclips vids about behind the scenes of the people who perform the nutcracker and it’s brutal. Being an actor on Broadway is a LOT of hard work. My interpretation is that Sharpay is fine with hard work, so long as it's for something that she cares about. Otherwise it's effort that she doesn't see the point of putting in

Potential Halloween movie for October: “Most Likely to Die” It was this horrible dumb horror movie I saw with Brittany from Glee and Perez Hilton. The writing and direction leave a lot to be desired BUT there is both a gay character and a lesbian character in it so that’s like one redeeming thing lol

There’s a Nickelodeon movie called Cry Baby Lane that only aired once in 2000 and was considered lost media until it was rebroadcasted in 2011 after interest in it sparked on Reddit. I know a lot of people have never heard of it or seen it and I think it would be interesting to see if it lives up to all the hype and controversy surrounding it. Also covering some of the more well known or iconic Goosebumps episodes would be awesome. I loved them as a kid but I always wonder if they aged well at all.
That movie is such a boring mess. Feels so much like an AYAOTD episode that they didn't know how to stretch into 80 minutes. I'd be happy to see it covered, though!

I feel like the writers missed a massive trick of the casting director misunderstanding and thinking Sharpay was actually a Shar-pei when he was arranging for her to audition. Chaos ensues when, instead of a singing and dancing Shar-pei, a blonde woman and her tiny rat dog show up.
I’m excited to see your criticism here! I actually wasn’t a fan of High School Musical as a kid because of Troy and Gabriella’s whole up and down thing, but I enjoyed some of the songs and really liked Sharpay’s character and I heavily enjoyed this movie!
