Hey Guys! Today's video is on how to create better to do lists in your planner. I'm sharing 6 of my favorite tips of how I create to-do lists that help me use my planner more effectively. Do you keep to-do lists in your planner?
As a curly, can I just say how much I appreciate that you add "wash hair" to your to do lists? I add mine, too, with it being a whole process and needi g to actually set the time aside for it.
You're the best organization focused RUclips channel I've ever seen (and I've watched quite a few of them). I'm trying to get my life back on track after a very tumultuous 15 months and your tips are making it seem doable. Thank you, I've subscribed.
This is great. However, since I am a newbie to planning and journaling, this seems very overwhelming. I have saved this video so that I can come back to it, slow it down and see how I can apply some of the ideas into my journal. Thank you for being so thorough and hugs to you and everyone here💕✨
I remember when I started planning and some of the videos were overwhelming. I did the same and saved them to view later. It’s a def process to get to what works for you. Mine is ever changing which is what’s so amazing about the disc systems. Good luck and most of all HAVE FUN!!!
@@janelleswilley9026 Thank you! I didn’t even know about this system until setting this channel. I’m bullet journaling right now but this is so very interesting to me. Excited to see how everything will evolve. Be well!😊
I love the idea of colour coding to make sure you have a visual of how balanced your life is. I colour code to organize categories but I didn’t think to look at how often a colour shows up to see if I’m too focused on a particular category. I definitely struggle with balance. Thank you for the suggestion!
Yes! I have a Happy Planner and use the 3 sections for each day to segregate my to do list topics. One for home, one for work, one for my side business. It’s been working great for me, but I do need to be better about evaluating the lists at the end of each day and deciding how to deal with open items. Otherwise I find myself dealing with several days’ lists at the end of the week!
I have a master task and master project list section in my planner. I maintain them on an ongoing basis. During my monthly planning process, I will review the list for any tasks that are date sensitive for the current month and schedule accordingly as well as plan other tasks I determine to do for the current month. As new tasks come up during the month I will assess if I need to do them in the current month or if it can be added to my master list and dealt with later during my monthly review. Great content as usual!
I definitely keep a running To Do list throughout my week, but don’t use color coding. Instead I use two separate planners for my personal and work To Dos. Creating To Do lists has definitely benefited my life and made my productivity increase since it holds me accountable! Thanks for sharing!
I really love how you put together ideas and making them so easy to understand! Just when I feel like I'll go off-track with what you're saying, you pull me back to the main point of the video (or section of the video) and it's very skillful! I love love love it! Thanks for sharing these! Btw, I also use color coding! It's fun and my brain works well with reading tasks according to their color code and it's really a game changer for a simple running to do list! Great video again, Alaina! Can't wait for next week's! xoxo
Thank you Alaina 😊💓, you are in my planner, I have a whole section on "listen to Alaina". Thank you... your channel is great! I'm just getting started with your help.
I am starting my To Do List planner in July...I got a vertical layout from EC during launch. I was super excited to start keeping my To Do List in a planner with the categories broken down. Now I am more excited to see how you color code in yours and that someone needs the same kind of tracking as I do!!!
Do you have any advice on how to still be productive and time block while kids are either home for summer, homeschool, etc? I try to time block but end up getting interrupted so many times I just end up frustrated! 😆
This one is a challenge. My kids are currently in summer camp so that has been helpful. Another thing we will do is alternate,. My husband will take them out of the house when I need to concentrate and get things done. It's definitely challenging though...
It is a Tul disc bound planner sold by Office Depot. It is compatible with the Arc planner materials sold by Staples and also Happy Planner supplies. I am a big fan of discbound systems because of the flexibility as you evolve in your planning strategies.
Ahhhh thank you so much! This is super duper helpful ✨!!! I had a question! What website or app did you use to make your hourly inserts and the pages you designed?! Thank you so much for being an inspiration Alaina
Alaina, so is the To-Do List replacing or substituting (hopefully I can explain this correctly) the time blocking in your catchall where it says home or work and then that time blocked area means --> see work planner or --> see home planner to see exactly what you are supposed to be doing at that blocked time. So basically is the to-do list instead of (or easier maybe more efficient then). Or do you still look at the catchall see at 3:30 It says work with an arrow until 5:00 and you go over to your work planner open that up and look at what you are supposed to be doing from 3:30-5. So are you doing both?
So I replaced my home planner (I got rid of it) and I don't use my business planner for my to-do's anymore. This planner basically replaced both. I will share my current set-up in a video soon. :)
I love to do list sticky notes! Post It makes a great one that has space for every day of the week. I just stick it in my planner on the monthly pages, and I check it throughout the day. Then at the end of the week I throw it away and start a new one.

Great ideas! I'm going to use some of these ideas in my own planner. By the way what kind of planner do you use? I didn't catch the name.

Do you use one disc punch for the different brand discs?

Hey Alaina
Do you have a clear divider to protect the page? I couldn’t tell
Yep! She does I saw it a couple times!
Hey!! Yes I do.
😊
When I click on the video for "What is TOM Academy?" it says that the video isn't available.
Good idea! This works for my scatter brain!
💜💜💜💜💜
Looking at my to do list and see four things I wrote more than twice 🤦🏾♀️
