i’ve been a paramore fan for a long time. and what confuses me about people saying they “lost their sound” or “miss their old sound” is that paramore’s albums have always sounded so different from each other. they switch it up every era but do keep elements that feel like paramore. but they are a band that is constantly evolving and NEVER sounds the same, so people saying they lost their sound doesn’t make sense to me. like, are we listening to the same band? bc this isn’t something new that they’ve been doing.

And consistency. Every single album is solid. Even All We Know Is Falling, which can sound dated at some parts, is still more mature than their counterparts at the time in terms of lyricism, instrumentation and energy. (The production on Here We Go Again is still a 10/10 for me 18 years later.) Even with all my other favorite bands, I can't say that they're as consistent as Paramore in terms of their albums and evolving their sound while still maintaining their original style. They take it and expand on it every single time. They're just the goats. I'm grateful to have grown up listening to them. Started at age 15 and I'm turning 32 this year. That influence is clearly shown not only by tracks like You First (one of my favorites on the album and IMO heavily inspired by Silent Alarm's "Banquet"), but also by the fact that Paramore invited them as the opening act of their upcoming tour. Yeah, this album is fantastic. It's the perfect showcase of a band maturing while retaining the ability to write catchy and interesting songs.

Every single person that says that they not sound like themselves cannot realize that this project is a perfect blend of all their previous albums + solo projects and it shows how much they have grown as musicians.
You first evokes the teenage angst of the AWKIF, RIOT! and BNE and Thick Skull is probably the one that is a perfect fusion of their more teenage emo with their adult post punk/grunge.
And the lyrics have always been emo, that is their thing and even in AL that was very present.

Paramore stans don't like the album? Might be worth checking out!

Lmao never heard a single paramore stan who doesn't like this album. Maybe you're talking about old paramore fans who can't let go of their pop punk albums fifteen years ago?

I feel the only way one would say this doesnt feel like paramore is if they skipped every album since 2009 including her solo stuff.

This Is Why grew on me as time went on. Thought it was okay on release but after seeing a lot of the songs performed live and re listening to the tracks I’ve really grown to love the more “mature” sound.

Paramore never had only one sound and to say a group of 30yr old adults don’t sound like 16yr old punks anymore isn’t even logical lol. Great review tho man.

I have to hear this song (this is why) every single day at work on the radio which tends to sully my opinions on most songs lol
I thought it was alright regardless. Not the worst thing on "alt radio" lol
Not my type of song but it's cool
