For decades we have been warned to NOT eat fish from that lake. I lived near that lake from the time it was built until 2002. Since the 90s we were warned to to not swim in Lake West Point or eat fish from that lake because there is so much toxic waste dumped into the Chattahoochee River from Atlanta and down stream from there. In the 90s I worked in a veterinary clinic in Lanett, Alabama and within weeks of each other 2 of our patients (dogs) died and what they had in common was they had swam in that lake a couple of days before getting sick & dying. We had the veterinary school at Auburn University perform autopsies and the results revealed a bacteria that had come from the lake water. NO WAY would I swim in or fish from that lake.
I was just informed that it is not safe to eat fish from that lake. So, don't take a chance!
