Neturei karta are the true Jews.
      Sephardim are the true Jews.
      Ethiopians are the true Jews.
      Ashkenazim are fake Jews.

The first thing I want to do is prove the Torah true. If I can prove the Torah to be true I can automatically disprove Christianity. The Torah is the only religious book in the history of the world where an entire nation saw the miracles in Egypt, saw the splitting of the sea, walked out of Egypt, and heard G-d speak at Mount Sinai. It's the only religion where all of it's people received prophecy hearing the first two commandments of G-d. There is no other book in history that makes this same claim. If you look at every other religion, they all make claims that cannot be proven. For example in Christianity, it says that Jesus was born of a virgin. How can anyone prove this? How is it even possible to prove a virgin birth? You can't, you just have to accept it on blind faith. Christianity says that Jesus died for the sins of the world. How can anyone prove this? This is another claim that you must accept on blind faith. Islam says Muhammed received the Quran from the angel Gabriel. Not even one witness to the story. How can anyone prove this? This is yet another claim you must accept on blind faith. According to Buddhism, Buddha saw the light. How can anyone prove this? According to Greek Mythology Zeus flew over the bay? How can anyone prove this? And if you keep going through every single religion out there they all make claims that cannot be proven. That's why a Jew would never waste his time with any other religion, because we know that all of them make claims that cannot be proven. Once you have a religion where none of it's claims can be proven true, don't waste one more second with that religion, throw that religion away. Because that is every religion on the planet except for Judaism. Judaism is the only religion that is verifiable historical fact. It is because of the Exodus of Egypt that we know the entire Torah is true. Had the Exodus not occurred we would have no way to know if the Torah is real. We know that everything that came before the Exodus, like Adam and Eve, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, are true because of the Exodus where we all walked out of Egypt and heard G-d speak to us, and we saw Moses as our leader, writing down everything G-d told him to write.
In addition, the word "Messiah" means anointed. When Jesus was alive he was never anointed. The Messiah is a king. When Jesus was alive he was never a king. The Messiah must fulfill prophecies like gathering all Jews back to the land of Israel, rebuilding the Third Temple, ending all war, hatred, and famine, establishing world wide peace, bringing the dead back to life, etc. None of which Jesus accomplished. In Tanakh, no such concept of a second coming exists. Every time the prophets speak of the Messianic era they're always referring to the same time period, which is after the end of days. Two thousand years ago was not the end of days because here we are two thousand years later. The prophets never mention the Messiah coming early, being killed, and then coming back in the future. The Messiah must also be a direct descendant of King David through his father's lineage. According to the new testament, Jesus had no biological father. It claims he was born of a virgin. In that case, how does he descend from King David through his father if he had no father? We'll set aside the fact that a virgin birth is not a Jewish concept. It's strictly a pagan concept. But for the sake of argument, we'll set that aside. Well then, if Jesus was really born of a virgin, how does he descend from King David through his father? Some Christians have tried to claim that Joseph descended from King David and he adopted Jesus. The problem is adoption does not pass on tribal lineage. We know this using the 24 books of the Bible. If a Cohen adopts a child, that child does not become a Cohen. If a Levite adopts a child, that child does not become a Levite. Whatever tribe a man is from he could never pass on his lineage to an adopted child. Then some Christians try to claim that Jesus' mother Mary descended from King David. There are two problems with this claim. First problem is tribal lineage only goes through the father, not the mother. Whether the mother descends from King David or not is irrelevant, it's specifically through the father that the Messiah will descend from King David. Second problem is, even if the Christian wants to ignore the fact that tribal lineage only goes through the father, not the mother, and insist that Jesus descended from King David through his mother, according to the new testament, Mary descended from King David through his son Nathan. We know that the Messiah will descend from King David through his son Solomon. So this would mean that Jesus descended from King David through his son Nathan, the wrong son.

Brown won this hands down. Frietag repeated return to "show me where God says we don't have to follow the old covenant law because of some dead guy" is just like when Muslims ask "where did Jesus say "I am God worship me?"" It's what's called the "exact words criterion". It's essentially demanding a concept you know the opponent affirms be found in the text in exactly your phrasing. In response I can just ask "show me Where God says unambiguously that the law from Sinai Shall remain after the Messiah comes" or to the Muslim "Show me where Jesus says "I'm a prophet, don't worship me".
That a talmudic scholar would use such horrible hermeneutical approach really surprised me.
Then you have all the arguments from emotion "for a thousand years at the point of a sword, fire, etc..."
The ad hominems "debating a Christian is anti semitic" Which is an underhanded way of calling Christans anti Semite. All while debating a Jew who besides his acceptance of Jesus would be an orthodox Jew.
Further his argument begs the question. He denies the new covenant in order to claim Jesus wasn't the Jewish Messiah, because Jesus and Christans don't obey the old testament. But that begs the question, is Jesus the Messiah? Because if he is and did broker a new covenant, then not following the old covenant can't be used as evidence that Jesus is a false Messiah. So in presupposing that the old covenant stands he's assuming Christ didn't give the New testament to conclude that Jesus is not the Jewish Messiah. or more simply we know Jesus can't be the Messiah because the old testament stands and we know the old testament stands Because Jesus couldn't be the Messiah. assuming your conclusion in your premise, Question begging!
Brown on the other hand answered every challenge Frietag made, provided the scripture and extra biblical context as well as corrected Frietag when he claimed Dr. Brown was taking texts out of context. Winner, Dr. Brown.

Well why don't you show me from the Hebrew Bible if you're so certain.
      Further Deuteronomy 18:22
"When a prophet speaks in the name of the lord, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word the Lord has not spoken, the prophet has spoken it presumptuously you need not be afraid of him". It's paralleled in 1 Kings 22:28 where Micah says"if indeed you return safely the lord has not spoken by me" and he said "listen, all you people". As well as Jeremiah 28:9.
Joseph Smith prophesied the second coming of Christ in 1835, he said in 56 years he would come and the last time was nigh. Meaning it failed to occur in 1891 and as such he is a false prophet.
Further for the flying spaghetti monster, a concept made up by atheists in the 21st century the Bible has numerous teachings against created god's(idols). Exodus 20:3-6, Jonah 2:8, Isaiah 44:9-20, Leviticus 19:4.... I could give you at least 20 solely from the old testament.
So there, that's where. Your turn, put your verses where your mouth is.

    • @PresbyterianPaladin
      @PresbyterianPaladin 7 лет назад +6

Further the old covenant was bound to both the land and the temple. After the destruction of the first temple and the exile to Babylon God's presence never returned. The second temple was not filled with God's presence in the same way as the first. Further it was dependant on keeping God's law which the entire old testament shows us the isrealites could not do. It was showing us that we can't fullfil the law ourselves. So in other words the old covenant was tied to the land, to the temple and to following God's law. The first covenant God had with Adam to be image bearers of God was abrogated by the covenant he made with Abraham(none of whom had the law of Moses and are referred to lovingly as the holy pagans in old testament studies), which was abrogated by the covenant made at Sinai. Each had different requirements and scopes. In each covenant we disobeyed God.
All of it was to demonstrate our inability to merit salvation by our works. We worship a perfect God and before him even our best deeds they are wicked. So on what grounds do you say that God could not give a new covenant with new requirements and scope in regards to who it can be applied (both Jew and gentile).
Further one of the old testaments biggest themes is our disobedience to God and our inability to keep the law, so why wouldn't God provide for us a way to actually be justified? I believe that God provided our justification in Jesus Christ. That all those who failed to keep God's law were shadows and signs of the one who would, in fact the only one who could. Only God in the flesh could meet a perfect God's standards and he died as the ultimate atonement for our sins, the sacrifice to end all sacrifice, the only sacrifice that could cover all humanity from the beginning to the end.
Further your only responding to 1 part of my analysis. The "exact words criterion" which is unrelated to the other 3 points.
He did commit appeals to emotion, he did make ad hominem attacks on Christans(anti semites)
And his argument begs the question. He assumes Jesus isn't the Messiah because Christians do not follow the old covenant on the basis of his teachings in order to conclude that Jesus was not the Messiah and did not broker a new covenant with God. He assumes his conclusion in his premise, that's question begging.
In conclusion from Adam to Moses each covenant was abrogated in one way or another by each successive covenant so there is no reason to believe God could not abrogate the covenant of Moses for the new covenant of Christ. So there's no reason to think we would have to keep the old covenant after the Messiah came. Just like you don't have to keep the first covenant made with the pagan Adam as a Jew under the covenant given at Sinai. They are tied to different people, have different requirements, and one abrogated the other. The New covenant of Christ is no different. Further he still committed appeals to emotion, ad hominems, his argument begs the question and he was corrected by Dr. Brown for taking verses out of context with the verses and parallel verses to demonstrate the context he was trying to hide.
      Again, winner, Dr. Brown!

    • @PresbyterianPaladin
      @PresbyterianPaladin 7 лет назад +2

Just indignantly dismissing my request for evidence of your claim is not evidence of your claim. Further I would assume otherwise due to the abrogation of each successive covenant in the old testament. As I stated in depth right above your comment. Further we Christians don't deny that certain revealed parts still stand. Christ did not come to abolish the law but fulfil it. Here's an article detailing how Christians apply the old testament.
      biblicalstudies.org.uk/article_law_hays.html
Lastly we Christans believe that the third temple being built is one of the signs of the end times. Those sacrifices are in vain.
Despite your condescending and flippant dismissal of Christians as "too much" you still have yet to cite one scripture in support of your position, which from your indignation I'd assume is pretty easy to do. Yet here we are, no evidence and everything...Funny.

TorahLove I don't know how you can say I don't know the Torah, when you say "in the Messianic era the covenant will be "new" and different in that it will be unbreakable owing to the tremendous Godly revelations the Jewish people will experience" Which is exactly what Christ did, he brought a new covenant, unbreakable as it's written on our hearts and not on stone tablets, that the old temple of rock and stone would be given up so the holy spirit could make his abode in our temples(body) "And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh, And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules". Further through Jesus the Jews came to an unsurpassed knowledge of God and his Torah, they knew God in the flesh in the person of Jesus. Further when it says that they will no longer need to teach their brothers and sisters because they will already know the law, it is speaking of the second coming of Christ and his millennial kingdom after the general ressurection at the end of days. lastly I agree the Torah is eternal as God's words, but the new covenant has been given, the Messiah has already come, and he shall come again at the right hand of the father to judge the living and the dead.. He came first as the suffering preist who was peirced for our transgressions, by his wounds we are healed. When he comes back he shall be the the king and military leader. It's not 2 different Messiahs predicted, it's one messiah who would come in 2 distinct roles, the suffering preist then the Davidic king.

TorahLove Melchizedek, whose name means “king of righteousness,” was a king of Salem (Jerusalem) and priest of the Most High God (Genesis 14:18-20; Psalm 110:4)
Melchizedek and Abraham first met after Abraham’s defeat of Chedorlaomer and his three allies. Melchizedek presented bread and wine to Abraham and his weary men, demonstrating friendship. He bestowed a blessing on Abraham in the name of El Elyon (“God Most High”) and praised God for giving Abraham a victory in battle (Genesis 14:18-20).
Abraham presented Melchizedek with a tithe (a tenth) of all the items he had gathered. By this act Abraham indicated that he recognized Melchizedek as a priest who ranked higher spiritually than he.
In Psalm 110, a messianic psalm written by David (Matthew 22:43), Melchizedek is presented as a type of Christ. This theme is repeated in the book of Hebrews, where both Melchizedek and Christ are considered kings of righteousness and peace. By citing Melchizedek and his unique priesthood as a type, the writer shows that Christ’s new priesthood is superior to the old levitical order and the priesthood of Aaron (Hebrews 7:1-10).

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one "jot"or one "tittle" shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Unfortunately, his opponent created a straw man and formed his entire position around it. His voice revealing his contempt and arrogance, he not only failed to dismantle or answer to what Dr Brown was ACTUALLY saying, he appeared to be unable to hear or understand the true message of the Gospel.
I pray that he and all of us would be given the ears to hear and understanding. That God would correct us in the places we all need correction. I pray that this man, and any like him will be able to have an encounter with God that would make him understand that the life, death and resurrection was not made so that people of God could do away with the law. The Spirit of God (the Holy Spirit) is the answer here. This sacrifice of Jesus has (in ways we cannot yet fully comprehend) allowed the Holy Spirit to indwell a person. SO that the law would be written on our hearts. As Christ said “search the scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life, and they are that which testify of me”.....Jesus (Yeshua) sent us His Holy Spirit. Eternity within us. The law upon our hearts. Jew and gentile alike. True repentance and belief upon His name will cause a change from the inside. And there’s no denying a changed life.

All the rabbi would have to do was point out the arbitrary Dispensationalist extension of the 70th week of Daniel from 7 years to 2000+ years to win the debate. But the temple was destroyed just as the prophecy foretold, and Messiah did make the covenant with the many. Jesus did as Isaiah showed and made the highway of holiness spoken of, and took the enmity away from Jew and Gentile when they become one in Christ Jesus. Jesus did establish His kingdom just as was foretold. He completed the second Exodus, where those of true Israel were drawn to the Mighty God.

He NEVER said that. Somehow sadly that has unfortunately worked it's way into the modern pulpits but it was never intention of Yeshua or else he wouldn't have passed the prophets test in Deuteronomy. He would have been called out on that by the Jews of the day, Instead He was accused of blasphemy and NOT teaching against the commandments. The only time the Jews accused Yeshua of not keeping the commandments when they thought they actually had an argument was healing/working on the Sabbath which Yeshua quickly debunked their argument. The rabbi has been given and is giving misinformation.

I HAVE PROOF IN HEBREW SCRIPTURES THAT YESHOUA HA MASCHIAH will be exalted as the KING OF ISRAEL and much more forever. GOD as a person is spoken of in Hebrew scriptures/TORAH since he himself said he came to not abolish the Law, but to fulfill it MATTHEW 5:17.
PROVERBS 30:4 , "Who has gathered the wind in his fists? Who has wrapped up the ... all the ends of the earth? What is His name, and what is the name of His Son-- if you know?"
The Prophet Isaiah in ISAIAH 9:1-7 and 7:14 says that a person will be born from a young woman named Emmanuel (meaning GOD WITH US) who will be called 'ALMIGHTY GOD', 'EVERLASTING FATHER', 'PRINCE OF PEACE' etc. and the text around ISAIAH 11:10 and ISAIAH 53:3-7 adds more about how he will be pierced for our sins, a light will come from Galilee and the Gentiles will hope in him. Zechariah 12:10 also talks about the person they pierced (I think in the same context, may be wrong). Micah 5:2 says a ruler of Isreal will come out of Bethlehem, "who's origins are from of old, from ancient times."
GOD as a person is in TORAH: GENESIS 3:8 when Adam and Eve hid from 'THE LORD' when they heard his footsteps in the garden of Eden. GENESIS 18 three men approached Abraham two of them were Angels that went to destroy Sodom and the third stayed and spoke to him and was 'THE LORD' when Abraham begged him to spare the people of Sodom. GENESIS 32:24 Jacob wrestled with a man in a dream and after his name was changed to ISRAEL which means iirc 'WHO PREVAILS WITH GOD'. IN GENESIS 32:30 Jacob said himself, "I have seen GOD face to face, yet my life has been preserved". When Jacob even asked for the name of this person in that dream he refused to tell him, because the name of GOD is sacred and full of power.
PSALM 8:4-6 mentions GOD will give the Earth to the SON OF MAN who is said to be 'made little lower than him (GOD)''and PSALM 110 has David saying "THE LORD said to my LORD; Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet". If he is speaking of a future Messiah than why is he speaking like that person existed at that time? I don't know if Hebrew has a present tense. Excuse me if I'm wrong. It's because he was alive through the ages than, now, and before. He's speaking about Jesus and Jesus mentions that PSALM in MATTHEW 22:44 . Jesus himself mentioned in JOHN 8:58 “Truly, truly, I tell you, Jesus declared, “before Abraham was born, I AM!”, I AM is a title for GOD and indeed GOD as a person did visit Abraham in GENESIS 18 and existed Ages before him.
Jesus himself says THE SHEMA in the verse of MARK 12:29, " "The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel: THE LORD IS OUR GOD, THE LORD IS ONE..." and he adds the sum of all commandments, "and you shall love the LORD your GOD with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’No other commandment is greater than these.”The Prophets like in EZEKIEL 3:3 eat scrolls to become the word spoken from God, so also Jesus symbolically gave his body and blood to be eaten at the last supper JOHN 6:54. That is so we gain the Holy Spirit of God and be part of him free from sin that would destroy our soul and eternal life.
One side of the ark was left empty of sacrificial animal blood as told in LEVITICUS 16:14 because it was left empty for space for the blood of Jesus that would be offered as a final atonement for sin. Jesus ('the seed of the woman') is the fulfillment of GENESIS 3:15 where he defeated/killed Satan (the snake who's head he crushed), after going into and out of Hell/Sheol MATTHEW 12:40, after being crucified at Golgotha (which means 'place of the skull') MATTHEW 27:33 and had nails put into his heels (fulfilling 'and he shall bruise your heel') to put him onto the cross. He overcame Death and The Grave so we can live forever. God as a person is the only one worthy to be the eternal KING OF ISRAEL forever through him being physically/symbolically part of David through the bloodline of Jesus.
I give this knowledge to you because the Salvation of GOD belong to the Jew first and than to Gentiles ROMANS 1:16. I saw a golden light the day I was saved and I know GOD is real. I once was a Atheist and now I have the Grace of GOD's Spirit and Truth. Bless you all people of Jacob.

This is what happened, this is the real deal: after the destruction of the second Jewish temple in 70 A.D., the Jews were faced with two choices, either follow the new covenant as proclaimed by the Jewish followers of Yeshua or follow the new covenant created by the rabbis, namely the oral torah. Rabbinic Judaism replaced the written Torah with the oral Torah an innovation. The Christians replaced the written Torah with the new covenant ratified with the blood of their Messiah, another innovation. The Judaism that existed prior to these two new innovations no longer exists. Both were born out of the destruction of the temple and the end of the temple sacrifices.
