You can use rubber roofing for a block off plate when you need to in a pinch. Just replace your carb and exhaust gasket with rubber roofing and pressurize through the pulse fitting
Hey Kevin really consider using loctite 518 on the case halves imo it works much better than yamabond and if u watch project farms videos he tested yamabond and it didn’t do so well, but 518 is specifically made for fitting machined surfaces and it works awesome!!
Look at the corrosion on the bolts on the Num 3 cylinder were the carb mounts, maybe the gasket was leaking due to the corrosion and causing a lean condition on that cylinder? That’s the only thing I can think of based on what I see
I get parts from many places. I used SBT twice for cranks. Usually I use pwc engine in NJ. I buy gaskets and pistons from SBT, PWC ENGINE, ERICKSONS MACHINE AND PERFORMANCE AND The Jet ski storecin FL
@@ShadetreeJetski I have a 1997 gp1200 non power valve and the rear piston burned a hole in it I bought new jug and piston set rebuilt the carbs put new Reed valves in it and the thing still won't run right or run under a load at all I'm at my wits end with it.

Rebuilding a SUV 1200. Did you coat the end seals with yamabond? Also, any yamabond between case section bearings? Thanks for your content.
Is this a new build? I don’t remember seeing this ski on your channel
This is the red and white GP I showed last year.

I thought the Yamabond was made for motorcycles thus 2 strokes. I will ask about the loctite.

I noticed that in the video and after breaking that bolt.
If you don’t mind me asking, where do you buy your parts, pistons, rings, gaskets, cranks and such for rebuilding

What will it cost to get that bolt out?
I will find out later today.
I'm going to start a rebuild on a Yamaha lx2000, can I use this video for it or are there slight differences?
XL1200? The GP1300R is nearly identical except the 1200 is carbureted and the gp1300r is fuel injected.
@@ShadetreeJetski no, it's a jet boat from 2002 with what I believe is two gp1200 motors in the back.
@ark8791 if they are non powervalve engines then yes a gp1200 or gp1100 engine is exactly the same.
Is it possible the rear crank seal caused it to suck air and lean out ?
Absolutely possible. I changed those seals. Today I get the intake back from the machine shop, so I hope to get this engine installed.

@@benbirkigt493 sounds like a carb issue. Did you check popoff pressure?
@@ShadetreeJetski no I didn't check pop off pressure but I will
