  • Today I'm sitting down with Cat from the Creative Introvert to take some questions on the topic of work, and where to look in the birth chart for clues about work, as well as how to read the 10th house if you are retired or do not work. If you have any questions for future Q&As, feel free to email them to: info@nightlightastrology.com

    Love the explanation! So starting with those 3 basic career/job houses (2,6,&10) then go to where their rulerships are living in the chart for additional career/job topics.

    I think I heard an astrologer mention that the 5th house relates to self employment

    What about MC in the 11th? Would you look at that house and its ruler for career instead of the 10th? Also, would you look at the houses trine the 11th (3rd and 7th)?

    Why is it a conflation? I think it's a condescending thing to say. I see no issue with aligning 2, 6 & 10 with Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn.

    • @starbrewerstar
      @starbrewerstar 3 года назад +1

      Its a modern over simplification of the house system to say, for example, the first house equals airies. Conflating the significations actually makes learning the house system more complicated because various attributions of the constellations don't neatly match up with the areas of life associated with the houses. It makes reading and interpretation much clearer and richer when you appreciate the two as distinct phenomena. This is the attitude all the traditional astrologers have.

      @@starbrewerstar fine. My point is that l don't see it as a conflation. I see it as symbiotic *and* simpatico. I have picked people's energies in sign, planet and house intuitively using modern.
      I am learning Hellenistic and l see it as valid and virtuous but there are things l see in Placidus / Modern just as on point.
      In fact the event that brought me to astrology was Pluto going into Capricorn in my Sagittarius-ruled 6th and conjuncting my 2° Saturn in Capricorn. It was my work-life that suffered as l got the bitch from hell who became my boss. Her vitriol, directed at me, for her delusional appraisal of me made my work life hell. She was, still is, a Capricorn! The 7th being where you would find open enemies.
      When Pluto *Stationed Direct* on Sept 20 2013, exact (0°06' orb) on my Dsc I knew my marriage was over.
      This, and other events, resonate with these so-called conflations. In my chart I'd say Sagittarius 'rents' the 6th from Virgo.

      @@Chapps1941 I would recommend listening to the intro of Chris Brennan's episode of the Astrology Podcast on the houses. He along with Kelly Surtees and Austin Coppock give a very concise explanation for why it is a hinderance to emphasise the connection between the signs and the houses. I agree that it is possible to draw connections between the themes but the real issue comes when they are taught as though they were one and the same.
      It is much more practically useful to think construct an interpretation as 'mercury is in Cancer in the 10th house' rather than 'mercury is in cancer in the house of capricorn'.

    • @Chapps1941
      @Chapps1941 3 года назад

      @@starbrewerstar l have listened a lot to Acyuta and Chris and Kelly. My lived experience gives as much air time to Hellenistic as it does to Placidus. I'm at ease with reading the 'complications' of Placidus. They are both divinations and both are equally valid. My Aqua Moon hates condescension.

    • @Chapps1941
      @Chapps1941 3 года назад

      @@starbrewerstar also l don't believe they are 'one-in-the-same' but, *rather,* strongly aligned. I used the word aligned and *not* merged. And l don't necessarily say "Mercury is in Cancer in the house of Capricorn", I'd say it as you said it. Sheesh!
