Honestly I only really want the IGPX and Digimon blu-ray but I’m glad that Discotek’s large amount of anime licenses has gotten me interested into a few different anime that I didn’t know were a thing like Stellvia, Kekkaishi, Elemental Gelade, Rayearth (series not ova) Reborn, and of course IGPX, Digimon, Sonic X, Beyblade, and Kamen Rider, at the moment for Discotek the future looks somewhat bright
It's great that Discotek Media have released some of my past cartoon/anime series onto SDBD blu-ray like the original Beyblade Series, Beyblade V Force, Beyblade G Revolution, Sonic X, Ultimate Muscle, Street Sharks and Extreme Dinosaurs. I do hope/wished they'll continued to released my favourite past cartoon/anime series like Biker Mice From Mars, Blazing Dragons, Wild West Cowboys of Moo Mesa, Creepy Crawlers, Mucha Lucha, Mary Kate and Ashley in Action, Gormiti Nature Unleashed, Spider Riders, Yo Kai Watch and Cardcaptors (Nelvana) because they deserved to be released at last too.
I just got my 02 set in today and I'm pretty sure the eye for the 2nd disc is Kimeramon... The color doesn't quite match up because it's Greymon's brown instead of whatever color Kabuterimon's helmet thing is... Would have preferred Wormon's eye, I assume they probably felt like they had too many blue eyes but the green for the area around the eye would have worked well.
Hurricane Polymar is my favorite Tatsunoko character, but I think people only barely know him because he was in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. I wasn't the biggest fan of the movie, but I may buy it just to see those bonus features.
I'm a big Digimon Fan and I think the Adventure 02 Blu-Ray set is cool but I'm gonna stick with my DVD Sets. Mainly because I noticed the Blu-Ray set for Adventure 01 has. . . I guess small errors TBH. It's cool, don't get me wrong, but I prefer the DVDs. That being said, do you think we'll end up getting Blu-Ray sets for Tamers, Frontier, etc
@@Soundout12 I guess the reason I ask is because I know Data Squad or Fusion for example are pretty rare and hard to find these days so it makes sense they'd be leading up to a future Blu-Ray Release for Data Squad. Kind of like what Flatiron/Cinedigm did with the old DVD Releases and Fusion.
@@alexslusher16 I think going in order makes the most sense. Plus they’re doing the movies. And if they get to do Savers and Xros Wars, those will be the first time in the world those shows have Blu-Rays
@@Soundout12 That's my assumption too. Also, if they're doing the films, what do you think the chances are we could get some of the other films on Blu-Ray like Runaway Locomon or Revenge of Diaboromon or even Island of the Lost Digimon? So many possibilities.
Now for the Digimon Season 3/Tamers Blu-Ray to come along. It is annoying that they don’t bundle the English and Japanese audio tracks together. To have the complete lot, you have to buy both versions of each of the four seasons. Probably costing in the triple digits and a long shelf for the eight cases. Assuming Discotek don’t put out a complete season 1-4 set and a set that collects all of the above.
The numerous changes to the dub (OP/ED, edits, episode recaps, etc.) necessitate the separate releases. It’s better for business to have two affordable releases than one super expensive product with 8+ discs.
@Spindash54 I suppose so. Though, they could still do that expensive boxset set after finishing the line either in a clamshell set or a special one like the famous Power Rangers Shout Factory boxset with the Red Ranger head bust. Or people are just looking to have both versions of their favourite Digimon together, do a bookcase set like the All The Anime Gundam collector’s sets for each show. You can have the regular two volumes or order a more expensive set with the beautiful bookcase to slot them into. Oh and maybe make them region free for everyone else wanting to grab the Blu-Rays...
@@rayvenkman2087 It’s possible, though Discotek has said on streams that the time and effort needed for big boxsets, slipcases, etc. is better spent getting more releases out, since they aren’t a huge organization. Region codes are a whole other matter though, and are usually required by the license owner.
@@rayvenkman2087 Discotek doesn’t typically do box sets since they are a smaller company and box sets are expensive to make. Also, region coding is out of their hands iirc as that is determined by the license holder of the show
I gotta hand it to Albegas, its vintage aesthetic and style is extremely robust. I’ll wait for any price drops before importing it. Also, having IGPX in 1080i is interesting considering that most sets these days are in progressive. I suppose the old standard will never die, huh.
Hi, I’m one of the the home video producers for IGPX (you literally see my name on some of the menus for the commentaries in this video) and just to very quickly explain why we used 1080i on this release: IGPX is an early digital show with segments in both 30fps and 24fps. The only way to playback everything properly on Blu-ray is via a 1080i signal, otherwise we’d have to drop frames. Also, since literally every TV and Blu-ray player must support 1080i, your set-up will know how to handle it!
@@ArguingMeadows So having it telecined to progressive would be a nightmare to accomplish- as it could introduce the lines bluntly into the image? Also, excellent work on the release and congratulations my dude!
@@kei_nishimaru Blu-ray doesn't support a 1080/30p or 60p picture. It's not part of the spec. You can use a 1080/60i signal to display a 1080/30p picture though, it'll just flash the lines twice perfect for the 30p segments. As for the 24p segments, most TV's can pick up the 2:3 cadence these days and reverse it back into a 24p picture on the fly. If we wanted to go fully progressive, we'd have to work in 720/60p, which is apart of the Blu-ray spec and the pulldown would be applied by holding frames (no interlacing lines would be left in), but that would be at the cost of resolution. We, of course, chose the higher resolution despite the interlacing because again, every TV knows how to deal with it or your Blu-ray player will just send it out progressive if you have it set to 1080p. Anyway, hope you enjoy the release!
It's kind of crazy how low key IGPX is amongst English speaking audiences. It actually aired on CN in North America for a good minute, even if it is a bit of an unknown show. Not sure if it was popular but CN ran it for a long time.

Sad that Digimon 02 didn't get a Japanese version on Blu-Ray, unlike 01 series did. I'm going to be 100% honest, but I can't stand the English Dub of 02. Adventure 02 in general is my least favourite season and that's mostly with how badly the series handles the main new cast, aside from Ken. The biggest offender of this is Davis or Daisuke's character. Him being a completely stupid character, especially in the English Dub is just annoying as heck. While the Japanese version of 02 is more tolerable to watch, it's still has problems with the writing. And it's because I think is that the 02 Digimon series was completely rushed beyond belief. Hence why Magnamon only showed up once & why the Dark Ocean plot was never fully expanded upon.
@Soundout12 Nice. These days it's much more difficult to find proper English Subs for Japanese Dubbing of Digimon since a lot of anime pirating sites have sadly been shut down. I really hope someday the people who made the recent Blu-Ray's for Digimon will work on Digimon Tamers as well. I especially would love to get my hands on Digimon Tamers in Japanese, since that series has my favourite Japanese soundtrack out of all the Digimon series. 👍
It was not rushed. The Dark Ocean was never expanded on, because that episode was written by Chiaki J. Konaka (Head writer of Tamers) with a way darker tone from the episodes preceeding it and higher ups requested to stop with the Dark Ocean before it took overhand. The rest of the writing comes from the 2 head writers of 02 getting into a fight midway through the shows production which then lead to their team having to mediate between the two because they didn't want to talk to eachother.
