Beautiful singing of one of the world`s most lovely songs. One can understand every word ! Best of luck in your musical career Rionach....you are super !
I had viewed a video of "Marble Halls" by Joan Sutherland before watching this one. Sutherland's classical mannerisms -- the trills, the rolled R's, etc. -- almost made me hate this song. But this wonderful young lady has helped me to like "Marble Halls" again. No pretenses, no showmanship, no nothing. She just opens her mouth and lets the music flow. What a talent! Her voice is like a bell, and her enunciation is nice and clear. Thanks for uploading this rendition of a truly fine song.
I so agree with you. I am listening to this one because I heard La Stupenda on the radio this morning singing this and her swoops and trills are not nice and there is no heartfelt emotion in her version unlike all of the current lovely young woman whose recordings are on RUclips including this lovely young lady.
Absolutely fabulous. You are the perfect interpreter of this lovely song. But why is there no memorial to the great Michael Balfe, the Andrew Lloyd Webber of his day, in his native city of Dublin?
Very well done. Don't be afraid to use your volume!! And try focusing your sound through your chin it helps me when I am trying not to sound breathey. :). I really enjoyed your performance.
I dreamt that I dwelt in marble halls, With vassals and serfs at my side, And of all who assembled within those walls, That I was the hope and the pride. I had riches too great to count, could boast Of a high ancestral name; But I also dreamt, which pleased me most, That you lov'd me still the same... That you lov'd me, you lov'd me still the same, That you lov'd me, you lov'd me still the same. I dreamt that suitors sought my hand; That knights upon bended knee, And with vows no maiden heart could withstand, They pledg'd their faith to me; And I dreamt that one of that noble host Came forth my hand to claim. But I also dreamt, which charmed me most, That you lov'd me still the same... That you lov'd me, you lov'd me still the same, That you lov'd me, you lov'd me still the same.
Enchanting and utterly charming. A voice of such purity.

Wow, best version i've heard so far (aside from Enya's)
I dreamt that I dwelt in marble halls,
With vassals and serfs at my side,
And of all who assembled within those walls,
That I was the hope and the pride.
I had riches too great to count, could boast
Of a high ancestral name;
But I also dreamt, which pleased me most,
That you lov'd me still the same...
That you lov'd me, you lov'd me still the same,
That you lov'd me, you lov'd me still the same.
I dreamt that suitors sought my hand;
That knights upon bended knee,
And with vows no maiden heart could withstand,
They pledg'd their faith to me;
And I dreamt that one of that noble host
Came forth my hand to claim.
But I also dreamt, which charmed me most,
That you lov'd me still the same...
That you lov'd me, you lov'd me still the same,
That you lov'd me, you lov'd me still the same.
Gorgeous voice and aria! Would you be able to tell me how the composer's last name should be pronounced? BALF? BAL-fee? Thank you!
"Balf"
