David wax my teenage love and I’m going to see him again in September and I’m 63 now ! Where has the time gone ! The most gorgeous man and still is ❤❤❤
A chance meeting with David when he went to a garage where I was working at in Wimbledon. We became friends once we got talking about our mutual love of motorcycles 🏍️. He’s such a wonderful person, and as we all know him as ever so talented. A truly special man. 👍
Oh memories! I had his pictures all round my bedroom. I remember seeing him in the film Stardust the sequel to That'll be the day. I sobbed my eyes out at the end❤
David Essex a great all round entertainer and a well deserved This is your life, and lovely to see Jeremy Irons, and Adam Faith, and you can see they have been great friends for a long time, by Adam Faith going back to David Essex and holding there hands with each other.
David stayed in my home in Saint Lucia...his role as VSO Ambassador took him to what was then VSO's Caribbean programme for which I was Field Director at the time. A humble, caring, modest and talented human being - gratitude and best wishes to you and your family, David! PS I now have identical twin sons too!
@@bernardbaker6803 they married in 1997 after being together for 13 years - I've just googled it. Edit: it was his first wife he divorced in 1996 even though they had been separated for 17 years.
In 1972/73 on a school trip, we went to see Godspell at the London Palladium? After the show, many kids went on stage to meet the cast. I met David Essex (had no clue who he was) and I asked him to sign my arm (suppose it was a thing in those days to do). He was quite taken aback and said "you really want me to sign your arm?" and I said yes still having no clue who he was. On hindsight, I wish I had a piece of paper.
About 5 years ago I went to a Hawkwind concert at Birmingham symphony hall where the band were accompanied by a symphony orchestra conducted by Mike Batt
I think he's lovely. My mother was possibly his biggest fan in the 1970s, my sister and I grew up listening to him, and I will be seeing him in a few months in Bath. My father also had a very strong resemblance to him (I guess that's why Mum chose him). A Winter's Tale always makes me cry within a few seconds. It might be the dog though. I agree with others on here, he does look uncomfortable especially when seeing his wife/gf and family. It's not for me to speculate but he seems to have little connections to them. But then "This is your Life" was always slightly odd.
I saw him at the Northwick theatre in Worcester when I was 27 ( I’m now 60) my mum came with me we both had a huge crush. We waited outside after and he was in a posh car and he waved at me ( well he waved at everyone but I like to claim it was a wave for me lol ! ❤️
I remember when I watched this live, and till got it on VHS somewhere as always taped this a lot. Always annoyed at the time and now after they said about Childe Byron, they then didn't talk about the 1985 hit musical: Mutiny which also has the hit single from it: "Tahiti" in 1983! +/or his hit TV miniseries: The River! + also before that no words for-War of the Worlds 🤷🏻♂🤦🏻♂ Then just skipped to the 90's.
@@RedheadLondon yes you can request channel to be monetised, but I’m not going to do that as the whole point of the channel is to provide hard to find shows for nostalgia :-)
Erm, does anyone else think that David looked very uncomfortable during this whole programme and that he didn't know half the people they were bringing on ....ok just me then!
Strange to see very Little Interaction between Essex and his then Partner🤔plus I’m betting his ex Wife of his kids was Cringing all through the show. As for Essex himself I don’t mind his Music but didn’t mind him in Silver Dream Racer. Not the Most Enthusiastic Man in the World.
Seems a very cold man tbh, his missus can't sit far enough away from him, not impressed, very cold towards his twins, watch the end, his missus doesn't know what to do, she behaves like a battered wife. maybe he's shy, fantastic live singing voice though.
The twins might be special needs/autistic, as they didn't seem to go to engage with their mother either, went directly to their much older half-sister, Verity.
@@mauricefaulkner455 I think they both were to be honest🤷♂️ Ones his ex Wife and the others his Partner (Both doing their best to not get close to him)

The end was sad
He wasnt playing a particularly nice character though... a good cautionary tale.
@@martinhudecek8886 no he wasn't but as an immature teen at the time, it was like David had died. Daft I know!
