- In this video I share an easy tip to create swing in your beats even if using quantization to your smart phone and the #koalasampler app. The key is to resample yourself playing hihats in realtime.

Nice. You could also resample a HH one shot, leaving some silence before the hit. Duplicate a few of those, then sequence a quantized pattern. Once recorded, adjust the “start time” and volume on the various individual hits. You can control the groove with precision.
Dope, I use this method for my snare too, you can get even more laidback while playing live!
thanks for sharing
This is the way to do it... The idea came to me when I got my first 404 in 08. Also if you're using a break , you don't gotta resample just use the space in the break before the hats - adjust the start time & leave some of that space in front of them. Same w kicks
That just threw my head into a tailspin. lol I’d have to see it demonstrated to get it…. 🤔🤷♂️
Dope! This is way more efficient than non quantized recording, robust!!!!

Wow, I needed this one ! Thank you. Peace ✌️
my pleasure
Greaaaaaaaaaaaatttttttt!!!! Beautiful trickk❤
Thank you! Cheers!
It's good to keep a little digital metronome next to you too lay them triplets (or any other resampling audio) in time. It can also help with playing things in double time in order to downtune the resample for that grittiness.

Dig Koala ! Cool tips JFilt!
much thanks
Videos r d-d-dope (learned that from your snare roll tip)...I was thinking about your logo (xlnt)...maybe hilite the pads that form the “V” for a little more pop...keep up the great tutorials!
thanks for feedback

I have a question? How do u select what to sample? To make your samples sound so smooth when Transitioning if that makes since. Can u do a tutorial on your whole sampling process like picking a sample and why and then complete a beat?
i select what i think sounds dope and how it makes me feel. its a lot of trial & error but thanks for the request
Dont know if you know but. Its a whole more you can do once you connect an mpk mini to it. You can "gps" map the pads and keys.
plz make video LOL then let me know
@@Verysickbeats ok only cause its you.

Hi from France Bro!!!!
I got a question for you.
When you normalize a sample in koala sampler, how many dB does that raise it? 0dB???.
Thanks for the answer Bro. You're the boss🎺🎸🎷. Peace.
im not sure on the exact amount of raised dB but the result is always satisfactory imo
@@Verysickbeats yes that's right but just for my personal curiosity I think I'm gonna plug koala to my PC to check it with my DAW vumeter and I'll answer you later!
Peace Bro🥳
Thanks. Dope tip

Glad you liked it!
There are 2 to 3 hip hop hi hat arrangements that arouse my curiosity and I wonder could you analyze or further explains what these are and how these particular techniques work and give examples of the hi hat techniques?

Is there any setting in Koala that helps with the swing? Or is it just a manual thing?
yes, go to the sequence section and hit the bpm button where you can adjust the amount of swing and or use quantize
@@Verysickbeats Thank you
专业👍👍👍

What does swing do?
it basically gives your beats a more humanized feel
@@Verysickbeats is it like quantize? Thank you man
@@ladyheroin.v4143 it's pushing it off the grid from being quantized
swing gives more than 50% of the beat to the first half and less than 50% of the beat to the second half. So it makes lop-sided sub beats. This has a different feel depending on if those are 1/8th or 16th beats. Basically every other tap is long-short-long-short by some adjustable amount . . . the swing factor. if you listen to a swinging beat you will hear how the first part is accented due to being longer and the second part is shorter . . . the key to all good grooves is a little un-evennesssss

Naw, seriously , this is exactly what many beatmakers do in their DAWs, only using velocity as the inconsistent "hit" that makes the beat more humanized,
Great video , OP , I'm sure many will find this extremely useful, I know I did,
Especially the bit about "ghost notes"
(Very useful in beat making!)
Cheers, happy beat making to everyone!
