Vorthos face will always remind me of the creepy lady from the earth kingdom in avatar the last Airbender. 😂

I saw the writing on the wall the moment the table decided to ignore the player with an emblem.
You DON'T ignore the player with an ult emblem. EVER.
EDIT: Also, the math for the ult doesn't check out. Liliana starts at 3, going to 4 when casting Doubling Season. Em Jae would need to cast another noncreature spell to trigger the pseudo-proliferate again, and only then could Liliana +2 (or 0 to proliferate), then -8 for the ult. Doubling Season can't increase the counters from the + abilities, as those are costs, not effects.
The deck was functionaly Mono B in almost every way that mattered, and it always shocks me to see people consistently leave Mono B players to set up wins uninterrupted. The second the emblem was up was the table's cue to remove the player, that emblem is backbreaking.
As soon as someone sits at the table as is playing super friends... even if they are all lilly. You have to kill them quickly
The entire game starting with that turn was a huge misplay on everyone's part. That ult shouldn't have happened, but Em Jay should have been Archenemy instantly after it did.
Thanks!
Love seeing more mutate. Otrimi is one of my favorite decks to play. Some of my favorite additions I haven't seen other people run too much of has been gingerbrute, Scarab-God, and Nylea keen eyed
Em Jae could not ult Liliana with Doubling Season. That was huge misplay that drastically impacted the whole game.
Also, why did Nick scoop at the end? He had 7/7 flier, and Em Jae was at 6 life with no blocker available...
Yeah this game was actually really bad with misplays. Like yeah no shit the player with the emblem is going to win if u ignore them.
He also had Oath of Teferi on the battlefield, so he plus, then ults. At least , that’s how it played to me.
@@MM-lv7iy Doubling season is not Vorinclex. It does not increase counters when you pay cost to activate planeswalkers.
@@Zaalbarjedi why
@@SylveonSimp because that's how Doubling Season works.
Muddstah, if Uncards are on the table, try General Surgeon as a Mutate Commander!
With the ultimatum even if you had something to mutate to, you can't cast them for the mutate cost because you are casting them for free. Most cards that let you cast things for free don't let you pay alternative costs
"Cast without paying the manacost" is an alternate cost itself and you can only choose 1 alternate cost to pay not multiples.
@@ThisNameIsBanned Aaah, yes. Tysm. Remembered you couldn't that choose alternate casting costs, forgot that detail that makes it make a lot more sense.
Reading all the replies I have not much to add. But it was fun to watch nonetheless. Thanks for the great editing. Didn't even hear any added commentary this time!
Couldn’t Nick have swung the flying Primordial at EmJae on their turn to win the game?
The Very Cryptic Command.
ive just built a mutate deck with sliver hivelord as the commander so i can run all the mutate cards, this got me pumped to try it out. Great video :)
which sleeves you're using?? they make your cards look better
Great game to watch, lots of spicy plays. Didn't understand why you all didn't target the player with the emblem. The back and forth between other players after the emblem just served to strength their position.
Yooooooo Andrew if you still have your Ramos deck, try doing prismatic bridge as your commander. It forces your board to be wider, avoiding wider swing kills and having multiple mutate stacks is always a positive
I could barely see Liliana, Heretical Healer.
It's the super expensive SDCC promo. I swear people only use them to flex on the poors hard, they look awful.
Does a creature still do commander damage if Otrimi isn't on top?
I’ve been fine tuning my Otrimi mutate deck for years with a Godzilla flair. So nice to see it played on the channel. I really lean into a boggles vibe while playing it and my playgroup usually has a hard time dealing with my pile 👍
IGNORE THIS - I WAS WRONG (Comment left in for prosperities' sake)
Just so you know, baby Godzilla should be in the command zone when Otrimi died. (When you move your commander to the zone it drags the other cards mutated on it too)
Commanders go to the graveyard and then can be moved as a state based action, so the BabyGodzilla should stay in the graveyard. It would only go to the commandzone if someone cast a Leadership Vacuum
@@its_chris2323 Yep, you're completely right! Turns out I've been playing mutate wrong. I was certain that the mutated stack went with the commander to the command zone and not all of the appropriate zones. Thanks for letting me know! (my otrimi deck will at least function better now!)
@@assassinLOLGASM No worries! When mutate initially came out it did work the way you described, but 2 months after Ikoria came out they changed how commanders dying worked.
@@its_chris2323 Thank goodness! I did always think otrimi was a little bit of a non-bo since they got back mutate creatures from grave! But it all makes sense now, thanks :)
Remember folks, commander is a casual format at the end of the day, and misplays happen due to circumstances that we are not entirely aware of and are outside of our control as viewers. It's pointless to stress (or even nerd rage) over what happened other than bringing up the reason why it was a misplay.
Can you share your otrimi list please?
I didn't know I could have been playing with Vorthos
Ramos becomes Otrimi cements the fact that decks tend to become more consistent the less colors we throw into them... I remember how, most of the time, Ramos either popped off or did nothing.
This was an awesome game!!!!
I love me some acorn Commander!
Is it me or is em jay constantly GOATED and just dictates the board all the time? She is filthy with her decks
Em Jae is a very, very good Magic player. They're always a threat!
Y’all just handed that to MG.
That's not their name, or even proper abbreviation of it 🙃
But you know to who I am referring :)
I really don't understand Inquisitor Eisenhorn, just as a design. you want a deck with a lot of instants and sorcery and your reward for it... a vanilla 2/3 that makes a flying 4/4 sometimes? it's just a commander that does nothing and has no real synergy with anything its deck wants to do. I feel like whatever wizards wanted to do with it, they missed the mark entirely.
People have a tendency to focus too much on the first effect Eisenhorn gets, and ignore the second one. In my opinion, that path is really weak. If you go for a voltron approach with cranial plating and nettlecyst, and swing with eisenhorn, you can cash in so many clue tokens and trigger so many artifact based effects that really overwhelm the table. Basically you push in with commander damage while swimming in clues
Is Em Jae's pronouns they/them or they/he? I think you used he @5:30
Oh no, lock him up! 🙄
@@maxbodifee3263 no one is saying that? It's clear he tries very hard to respect his friends and their pronouns. You seem to be the only one with an issue. Maybe you should address that.
I don't want to sound like a bad dude, a douche or somehting. But, Otrimi is not a shitty Commander? I mean. What is the gameplan with him? I don't remember seen a Otrimi deck outside of this channel, but maybe a I don't see enough videos to know he is good.
Not every deck has to be good, can build them purely for fun. Have one of my own that's a blast to play but has no hope of winning.
I've been playing for a rly long time and all my decks were like a high 7, 8 or even 9. Eventually I got to the point we're building and playing a fine tuned deck was boring and kinda like a crutch so I started getting precons and upgrading them a tad (mana base/ removal) and they have been some of the more fun decks to play and games I have played.
Not saying that the otrimi deck is a precon, just my 2cents on playing powerful commanders/decks. 👍
That's your bias looking at EDHREC Otrimi ranks 255 which is pretty good Id say so he really isn't extremely uncommon
