Top 20 in 30 countries with no major label backing him. Just take that in for a minute. Skepta is the one who will push grime to the world. Bigup for the interview.
Can we stop talking about Semtex and appreciate just how much of a down to earth, honest and good guy that Skepta is? He is actually trying to make a difference to the world and not just to put money in his wallet... upmost respect.
Right, found my motivation video for Monday, Well deserved. Only 2mins into it now and am glad that I have met both of them at various times in my career, this should be a wicked discussion, lets hear it.
+Alex Rolfe yeah I know lol, Ima be uploading a video in the next few hours on it, it would have been up a while ago but I keep getting copyright claims from the guy who does the beats, should be up soon though!
+King MG cool and novelist was talking about you on periscope, saying your reaching and trying to cause beef, but I enjoy your videos I like the stories so don't stop keep it up.
I used to think drake was catting London slang but it's not that. Specifically in Toronto, the blacks there are migrants form the carribbean/west Africa, so their slang has the same (predominantly) Jamaican origins as ours which is why they have the same words/phrases/structure that you typically hear in london. A lot of us Londoners are first/second generation migrants; i.e. our parents or grandparents were born in carribbean/africa so we are much closer to the culture, just like in Toronto It's different in America because most of the blacks there are from slaves and haven't got the same 'homeland' cultural definition as us and where they do it isn't as strong because they've been 'out of the loop' for a lot more generations
@@020701304 This is an old comment but I needed to respond. Many of you that are of carribean descendants and African in London and Canada yes may know your roots. But,Many black Americans have the same roots. In spite of not knowing precisely where our origins our we have managed to make a hell of an American culture for ourselves that is duplicated throughout the world. So,I wish many of you people of color from London and Canada stop trying to minimize who we are and what we have built for ourselves. While many of you know where you come from your presence in the countries that you are in and your strides can be seen as minimal compared to the accomplishments of the slaves that ended up in America.
@@Kim-427 I'd agree with most of that, I didn't mention it because it wasn't the focus of the point I was trying to make. the culture you have built is a result of what I was saying. I kind of disagree with your last point though, what do you mean by accomplishments? Caribbean diaspora have had similar influence on our respective countries as you have in your own
Great interview on Skepta's side. Semtex was the wrong person to interview him for this amount of time tho tbh. There were almost no counter responses to anything he said and all of the questions he asked him were really generic and off subject. "What do you think to the current state of UK hip hop/grime atm?" i bet his last 5 interviews didn't cover that, glad you asked him about that m8
40:00 - This isn't a fact, but opinion - Skepta doesn't think Dizzee did enough to help the scene when he made it through. Dizzee didn't bring anybody with him. That is where Skeptas beef with Dizzee stems, despite what may have been a soso friendship previously.
That's he best type of interview because if it's got that "flow" it's all about the same thing and it's boring. If they keep switching it up you want to keep watching
That's he best type of interview because if it's got that "flow" it's all about the same thing and it's boring. If they keep switching it up you want to keep watching
I hope that his crew stays loyal and supportive.Because some may get tired of everything being about Skepta. His men are gonna want their shine too. When will one of them put out some music of their own?
range567W I'm not clueless. Why are y'all so fuckin rude?Im saying maybe they want Skepta fame.Out of everyone he seems to get the most shine. Most normal people would know what I mean.
Lol it's funny in interviews like this with Skepta, he usually goes on about a deeper mission with the whole grime scene, pure ting. Interviewers be cutting him off after his rant and be like "so what's up with Drake" lool who cares about Drake, the mission is deeper right now
Semtex goes from starting off with a point for a question then asks something polar opposite at the end of the sentence. Big 1xtra though hopefully we collab on something one day
40:00 - Skepta WAS dissing Dizzee. He is backing up and holding back in this interview with regards to that particular point, and if you can't see that by his response and his body language, you must be deaf and blind.
+whablo100 sadly no we listen to alot of bullshit rappers with no bars and wack beats and no style ya grime scene is how we need to be out here in the U.S. passionate bars and great beats and studio gangsters much respect to what ya got going on
Top 20 in 30 countries with no major label backing him. Just take that in for a minute. Skepta is the one who will push grime to the world. Bigup for the interview.
I fucking love Skepta man, i live in Miami now but i grew up in north london too. Everywhere i DJ ima play grime. Its my favorite sound ever.

Your top looks like some tacky ass fake hba ahah
Statiq Thanks
StolenTech I was in france before that and there was more opportunity out here imo. Especially as a dj. But my parents made the moves anyways
Me too. Londoner in Miami
Can we stop talking about Semtex and appreciate just how much of a down to earth, honest and good guy that Skepta is? He is actually trying to make a difference to the world and not just to put money in his wallet... upmost respect.

+Alex Rolfe yeah I know lol, Ima be uploading a video in the next few hours on it, it would have been up a while ago but I keep getting copyright claims from the guy who does the beats, should be up soon though!

i bet his last 5 interviews didn't cover that, glad you asked him about that m8
fully agree am only 10minutes in
I wish he would've added a bonus track/CD with a 1-2 hour long Grime set to Konnichiwa, would've been the icing on the cake.
+LATEON BBK did a show on radar last month which was good, but yeh a mistajam sixty minutes live would be good

KING CVS
16:30 some deeper levels - you can tell skepta's struggled hard with that smile right there
THAT IS A SICK ANALOGY OF THE CROSS FADER!
Massive interview, big up Semtex and Skepta. I hope what has been said inspires the future artists to do it, and push forward.
The time Skepta would have been living in Manchester would have been them mad days as well. Gooch times and them ones there.
Personally despa would have been better to conduct the interview
"Finesse everyday, keep your mind on the greatness"
40:00 - This isn't a fact, but opinion - Skepta doesn't think Dizzee did enough to help the scene when he made it through. Dizzee didn't bring anybody with him. That is where Skeptas beef with Dizzee stems, despite what may have been a soso friendship previously.
Great interview!
There's 0 flow between these questions. Taking a dab into random topics😒🤐
dabbin ass rappers
That's he best type of interview because if it's got that "flow" it's all about the same thing and it's boring. If they keep switching it up you want to keep watching
