Beastie Ball is a turn based, creature collector, sports RPG. While it's closest comparison is probably a game like Pokemon, Beastie ball is quick to establish it's own identity. Beastie Ball is currently available in early access on Steam.

older final fantasy games (such as 7) have the ability for you to change menu colors they just give you a full color gradient. but the games that most famously have menu colors to me are earthbound and mother 3 which feature several colors with cute names (pokemon games have also had different text box borders)

The development bar in the beastiepedia is a beastie's research development. Upon completely researching a beastie the game will tell you all of a beastie's stats, movepool, and how to recruit them. Fully researching every beastie is pretty much the game's equivalent of completing the pokedex. It actually has nothing to do with the game development side of things.

Just beat the game yesterday and went with the more “moral” ending, won’t spoil it, and the game is a fun challenge, even in its Early Access state
