Honestly, this album may be the best representation of the 2000s indie scene. It's got it all--the psychedelia, the sampling, the art-pop sensibilities, the world-music influences... Not to mention it's from a member of one of the most revered bands of the same period.
This album is sacred to me. I only play it during what I haved dubbed Panda Season ( a brief span of time, sometimes twice a year where the weather is crisp and cool marked by plenty of sunlight by day, clear skies and strong sudden gusts of wind).
This is easily one of my top 10 albums of all time, along with Feels and Strawberry Jam, i just love Animal Collective's music so goddam much it just puts me somewhere else and speaks to my soul
I came across that album relatively late, in the first lockdown of 2020 and i immediately recognized something, what at first just seemed to be my imagination, that in my ears, it sounded surprisingly "similar" to the stripped down sound of the city of Berlin during the bigger part of the last 3 years. This coincidence makes it even more special to me.

The sp 303 keeps making my favorite album cuts . Its funny cuz i think only certain artists can make a sequenced album with that thing. But all around its a alien like machine and should be studied .
can someone tell me which three 'groups' are depicted towards the end of the video when he mentions "a roadmap to Lennox's eclectic taste"? especially the guy in the purple jumpsuit.
It's more specifically about his relationship with antidepressants, although it also references his mom. He talks about it here: www.dustedmagazine.com/features/599
This album is overrated. It had some really inspired moments - comfy in nautical and bros but it also had some indulgent exploration. It was a great era of records but this was far from the best.

Pretty sure take pills was about a family member being on SSRI medication and him wanting them to get off them, not about him. Could be wrong though.
Yep, his mom was on SSRIs after his dad passed away in ‘04 and it’s a song for her.
@@Jvd1925 yep this is what i remember exactly just wasnt 100% on it being his mom.
It's more specifically about his relationship with antidepressants, although it also references his mom. He talks about it here: www.dustedmagazine.com/features/599

Calling it, Bros is written from Deakins perspective.
Person Pitch > Pet Sounds
Charles Manson- Lie : the Love and Terror Cult
This was the first PB record I heard, and I certainly loved it, but I think Tomboy is lightyears better.
This album is overrated. It had some really inspired moments - comfy in nautical and bros but it also had some indulgent exploration. It was a great era of records but this was far from the best.
I'll get burned for this, but while person pitch is great, I think it's a tad overrated
you forgot to mention Pet Sounds
I don't even think it needs mentioning. I think of the Beach Boys first when I hear Panda Bear or Animal Collective.
Yo get a way less goofy voice over please
