It has to be a daily wearer as there are so many complications that must be set and running: day, date, month & moon phase. Paid $35K for it over 10-years ago but sold/traded out of it like an idiot. My foolish action was rewarded by having to spend 3-times that much when getting it again. I’ve had RM too: 29, 10 & 30 with the titanium RM 29 being the sweet spot. Congrats ☝🏻😉

On this, he is buying this watch at the absolute top! Not really investor minded. The Bugatti I totally understand, it's a collectable and his dream car and it will can go up more in time, if he doesn't daily it.
The watch is beautiful. But a couple of years ago, if I'm not mistaken 2017 you could get it for $25,000 but it was the 5711 blue dial with only the date indicator, in 2019 the prices doubled, and went insane from there. At the moment there is a Audemars Piguet Royal Oak jumbo in yellow gold champagne that goes as high as $350,000 in 2017 the list price was $35,000.
My last buy was a Seiko SKX007J bought it for $250 and is currently listed for $1000.
I like the Patek and also the Royal Oak in gold but not at these prices they currently at. So I'm staying low key with a Jaeger and an Omega Speedmaster as part of a 6 piece watch collection, but most of the time I'm wearing a $120 Nixon surf watch. Because that watch has a functional utility for my daily routine.
The Jaeger I only wear during family gatherings and the Omega when I fly. That's once a year and a couple of times when I'm flying.
There are a couple of watches at the moment that will go up in value in the coming years, but not all of them are to my liking.

His Veyron make sense, it was a million when it was released. And today it’s 2.4 or higher. It’s projected to increase in value when the full electrification of cars will happen in 2030.
The watch, well like I’ve said, it’s a beautiful watch, but honestly as an investment, is a watch that increased in value from 25k to 137k better or the same watch from 137k increase to 200k?
I’m not hating on Carl, do what whatever. It’s just there are beautiful watches that will go 4x 5x or even 10x in the next couple of years.
But if he bought it just because he likes it so much or in other words a emotional purchase. Then by all means.
Similarly again not hating on Carl but when dogecoin was pumping Carl was ridiculing dogecoin whenever he had the chance. I don’t mind, I bought dogecoin at 3 cents and sold at 50 cents after it retraced.
So it seems he’s quick to the action on some things but relatively late on other things.
This Patek has been on the market for years now.
If you have been paying attention, Carl was looking at a Jacob & co. Priced at a million. I believe the Patek is a much more of a rational purchase.
Although in my opinion, a watch should be bought at the price intended by the manufacturing cost, and all cost involved the company most make plus the added value for them to make money.
Some watches are released at let’s say 25k and on the resale market it goes for double that within a year of purchase. This is an indication there is something terribly wrong with the economy in so many ways.
To me if Carl was buying the Patek at the price of 137 retail from an certified retailer first hand then okay. But he bought it 5x more expensive, so there is hype, and tons of middle men in between it.
So in the watch world he is a bit late. And probably paid a bit too much… That’s all.
But people after him will pay even more, and shows that fiat money is absolutely worthless at this point.
