Wow Brother, you saved my day. I bought an Acer Intel PC and this UEFI interface appeared and I hardly found anything on the Internet to start booting from USB to install windows. I am really grateful. Thank you very much! I followed your explanations and it worked perfectly. 😊
This is like the sixth video I have watched and this is actually the best video I have watched, he is very knowledgeable, but none of them have helped me.
Dude thank you so much. I was trying to complete stuff for work and when I came back to my laptop I saw this screen and I got so scared I lost everything. This was perfect!
I'm glad your video is Closed Captioned as you speak at such a blue streak pace it is hard to keep up with you. (I am getting older and need a bit more time for the words and concepts to filter in.. lol)
This was great, thanks! Another useful trick is to add "page=#" to the end of your command, it will add pagination. The # you enter will be the number of lines you want per page. Sometimes you end up with really long output and the buffer isn't big enough to display it all, this will allow you to page through the info (like the "more" and "less" Linux commands)
Guys don't waste time.this is very helpful by I couldn't find the EFI file in my folders FS0 or 1 or 2 so I turn off the laptop and open BIOS . IN The FAR RIGHT under Safe changes has an option EFI BOOT. I DISABLE EFI SHELL and Worked. Try it if you couldnt solve it after this so helpful video.
Sorry if too late you need to shutdown computer start up but after pressing the starting button press del or esc or f12 or f10 or f11 (depends) and you will be in bios or uefi
bro you came in clutch, for some reason it wasn't booting from my os so I had no idea how else to boot it until I followed the steps you showed in the vid. Huge Thanks.
Hi Bro i like what u doing,First of all sry Foto my Bad eng.I Hope u can help me . I use like u in the video the command 'bcfg boot dump -b and bcfg boot mv 02 00 and it doesnt worked. The EFI shell want run this command This is Show in the command line : 'bcfg' is Not recognized as an internal or external Command, operable Programm,or batchfile.what can i do ?? My Windows normaly is C: now it is D: Icant boot Windows i want format my disk because i Need some Stuff in there.I havnt any folder calls loader Inlay one called bootx64.efi but it wannt fix my Problem ..i Hope u can help me
Thank you for a wonderful presentation to explain the mysteries of the UEFI shell. Without this video I would not have been able to complete my project of loading the Chrome OS Flex bootx64.efi from my USB. Thank you again! 🙂
Thanks for this video. Every time I tried to use EUFI in Proxmox Hypervisor it would stop at the shell. I had to disable Secure boot!! Your video led me to the answer. Much appreciated!
Nice video. I liked your comment about finding no one in searches who rally knew about EFI Shell configuration. My exact frustration until I found your video. I was stumped on how to upgrade some LSI IT mode cards. Thanks again for all your work.
This was an honest presentation of this subject, funny too. I wanted to lean more about the EFI shell, for example, in linux my root drive has a different partuuid in the EFI shell, than the same root drive has after the system has fully booted up. For boot I need to find out the partuuid is in EFI. Thank you for your EFI video.
I have a problem, the bcfg command is missing. I have an EFI shell version 2.70 [5.19]. What can I do to get Windows to start right away, and not EFI???
Thanks, the info should be very useful for me as I try to assemble & set up a barebones mini PC. Most useful were the names of the two reference documents given at the end. The examples you showed should also be useful, if I consider them to be a sort of tutorial.
Oh my, this takes me back. I used to use commands like this all the time in windows 3.0. When I was 5 uears old, I was using dos commands just like this... wow the original substructure is the backup... cool.
So far this has been the most useful video I've found, but i don't see any executables. I'm trying to get past the EFI menu, windows won't boot up so this is as far i can get. The MSI BIOS menu doesn't seem to have anything useful for my situation. Been messing about on and off for two years with this thing, my only achievement is getting rid of a black startup screen, so i do got access to the BIOS and the EFI menu, i just don't know what to do from here.
if there is no EFI executables, it's either you don't have a bootloader (accidentally removed) or it's a legacy OS install (MBR). The easiest solution would be to move your important data out and do a fresh OS install.
OMG thank you so much, I needed to downgrade a BIOS from a B350m MSI and they provide nothing but a message telling you you can't. IDK why MSI doesn't provide this information so you can recover your mobo instead of losing $$ on working hardware
bcfg is not recognized as an internal or external command, sadly was so hyped after finishing video, was able to finish the boot process, sadly this tablet needs more time investment that am not willing to put in Thanks for the help and explanation that might required read some long PDF or blog threads
Ive followed your instructions but when I put bcfg boot dump -b, I get a text saying 'bcfg' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program, or batch file, what should I do now?
Hi, thank you so much for explaining all this, APPRECIATED! For me the executables aren't able to boot the system. I am using Nvidia Orin having AArch64. I want to copy one particular work folder from memory to external USB stick. Could you suggest how to do it? In the help i couldnt see the command to do it. Thanks in advance.
Hello. I have Lenovo tablet S8. At startup I get this message "EFI Shell version 2.31 can not find required map" Really appreciate if you could help me to solve this issue.
I got back into windows thank you for that but is there a way to make it so I don’t have to run the boot file from the efi shell every time I start my computer
Good afternoon sir am trying to boot using the method but it is saying that it is not recognized as an internal or external command, operational program, or batch file
How to reload the shell with a command/ protocol ? basically i just want to find a way to exit and re-enter the shell type of thing in a single command/api?
Hi there, your video was insanely helpful, however when I try and access "cd arch" or "cd boot" it states that no directory is found and there are no files at all on the directory. Could you please give me some guidance?
Bruh i sat typing any command i could think of like enter bios or whatever and never thought of just typing exit untill after seing this video and i did it and it took me right to bios setings lol
