    Insane to think A1 feels outdated. I really feel Sony is shooting themselves in the foot not providing necessary updates to older models; not sure if its simply due to hardware limitations? I wish they approached it similarly like mobile world, where software updates are provided for at least 2-5 years from release.

    • @howtotechstuff
      @howtotechstuff Год назад +6

      I should also mention that A1 was released only 2.5 year ago and was priced at 6500 USD(5920 EURO)

      Yeah, honestly it leaves quite a bitter taste in my mouth about the flagship stuff, but at the same time, I understand that technology moves at breakneck speeds, even though most of the time we fall into the "incremental updates" feel. It is what it is and we'll see what happens in the future hey!

    My everyday gear is the Ricoh GRIII, because I am weak. 😂
    I am one of those casual shooters that will leave gear at home if it's not convenient. I really prioritise whether a camera will frustrate me to carry it all day and not take photos. It's one of my top 4 deal breakers in purchase decisions.
    Idk if you feel the same about the RX1, but I feel like there are many photos I could have only taken with my small cameras.

    • @patkay
      @patkay  Год назад +1

      Absolutely. Moments where I can't be bothered to bring my camera bag, I'm always just bringing my RX with me and it's taken so much amazing surprise images I would have never gotten otherwise.

    My kit is similar to yours. But, I have made lots of changes recently. Last year my travel bag was the PD Everyday Backpack. This year I've switched to Tenba DNA messenger bags. I sold most of my Sony primes. The only one I still have is the 50 GM 1.4. Most of my shots are taken with the 24-70 GM II and 70-200 GM II. I also bought the 1.4x and 2x teleconverters which I like. Sold my 16-35mm GM. I'll order the new 16-35 GM II when it's available. I also have the 100-400 GM for landscape and wildlife and the 200-600 G for wildlife. Sorry this is getting so long. My main cameras are two A7R5 bodies and my pocket camera is the RX100 vii. My travel tripod was a Leofoto LS-365C, but I'm going to try the Leofoto LS-284C.

    • @jmvldz

      How often do you use the RX100 VII?

    • @PhotoTrekr
      @PhotoTrekr Год назад +1

      @@jmvldz I've had a few of the RX100 cameras since they were released. And I've used them quite often when I travel and for family photos. My kit continues to change, since the previous post. The teleconverters worked so well with the 70-200mm GM II that I sold my 100-400mm lens. I tried the 16-35mm GM II, but decided to go with the 20mm G lens instead. The LS-284C has worked out great for travel. And I ordered the Sony A7CII. Lately I'm trying to reduce the size and weight of my kit.

    5:24 hearing that makes me happy that I brought the A7RV over the A1. I was debating which one to get after getting a distinction grade in my Advance Photography course so I made the decision to go A7R5 because of new AI autofocus and the 4 way screen.

    I also use the Peak Design 20L Everyday Backpack. I have looked at other bags over the years, but i have the PD set up perfectly for myself and I am used to it when traveling and changing lenses. I know exactly how much I can actually bring and where to put everything for this bag so at this point I'm just reluctant to have to adjust to a new bag. I also have a Sony A7RV and when I travel, I usually bring the Sony 24-105 f/4, Sony 35mm f/1.4 and a Tamron 17-28 f/2.8. Sometimes I will bring a Tamron 70-180 f/2.8. I also will travel. with the PD aluminum tripod as its pretty compact.

    I used the 20L everyday carry for years as well, but its actually 20L when the top lid is high. when it's flush and sleek its closer to 15L.
    I still have it, and use it for commute/everyday carry, but when its FULL, it has no give since its fairly rigid in its fabric design.
    for actual travel/photog stuff I use the Shimoda Explore v2 25L and while the side access isn't nearly as comprehensive, I dont carry 3 cameras around XD
    FWIW the explore V2 is the most comfortable backpack I've ever used in my life, not that I'm a backpack expert

  • @who2999

    I use the think tank retrospective bag for my everyday carry. It expands and collapses a ton which is nice since I keep everything in pouches and change out my load out frequently. If I'm just shooting solo I try to travel as light as possible, (One cam, three lenses, drone, mic set) but when I need to support my team I end up being weighted down with backups of everything and tools to solve every problem that can arise on set. (on a big day the difference can be 20 lb from my minimal kit) I have an old super cheap camera bag in the back of my car where I keep all my extra tool pouches for when I need to up my loadout. The expansion is also handy because frequently I'll need to carry stuff for talent, or pick up stuff from other shooters while mid shoot. If I need to hike I have an old circa 2015 20L manfroto bag I'll my my EDC pouches over to for the easier mobility, but I prefer the shoulder bag for most days because it's easier to drop and let the other shooters I'm supporting find what they need in a hurry.

    Again, if money were no object, would love to try a Ricoh GR IIIx as a EDC camera (saving me from having to bring the PD Sling everywhere)

  • @ALWH1314
    @ALWH1314 Год назад

    I have the same bag, it’s good looking but it’s hard to pack with only side opening and not very flexible to configure. I found the 16L Zip actually packs the same gears and it’s easier to pack and can use for other purpose better than the 20L. You have the latest Sony gears, cant see any Sony user not happy with the same set. Don’t like PD strap, it slips. The best strap to me is Vi Vante Matador Noir with PD anchor. Most of the time, PD 5L sling is what I carry with one camera like Sony A7C, Leica Q2 or occasional Sony A7R V. It can fit my Hasselblad 907X 50C with small lens in it. Don’t like switch lens going out so, bring 16L Zip when I take two cameras or larger lens. Also use Oberwerth, Burlington and Vi Vante cross body bags. Camera insert is also a great way to convert regular bag and carry on luggage, I have a few cheap inserts bought on Amazon and a couple extremely strong from Holdfast. Luis Vuitton makes a few cross body camera bags, not well padded, adding an insert, they are perfectly functional and stylish.

    Ulenzi I think it pronounced that way or close they travel tripod is taller, weighs the same or less than yours, footprint is less, it does more and is 1/2 the price so if you need a 2nd or 3rd travel tripod I would consider that one. The A1 I also have and I’m not happy with Sony for reasons you gave. I am done with Sony flagship cameras since none of the other big players and non big players do that. A1 was not cheap, of course you know. 35mm GM yeah that is lovely lens I often carry mine. 135mm 1.8 GM, have tried yet? My goodness the depth of field is 2nd to nothing I have ever tried. 70-200 (II) GM DOF does not compare to 135mm GM. Looking fwd to the new 85mm GM, it is time wouldn’t you say? Nice review, I like what you have in your bag.

A quick search and most sources say there's not much of a difference in speed and reliability, only that with an extra form of connection via the adapter - there also an extra point of potential failure. It's also said it's best to use native format which is the SD card. Any insight? Should I swap to SD?

      As I mention in the video, usually it's just 2 or 3!

    Dude wasn't your last video about doing things that matter lol. This video flies in the face of that

      He's gotta get paid lol. One video is for RUclips, the other is for himself.

      Absolutely not. I literally spent half the video talking about how important content is and that people also get value out of stuff like this as much as I get value out of doing my own things. I appreciate that different people have different interpretations of the same message, but I'm definitely congruent with what I mentioned.

      @@patkay well ok. I misunderstood then. Personally I think your non conforming content focused on your own craft is the best. These what's in my bag videos are the worst. Like you said, just content.
