    The end result speaks for all the prep work, top notch work! Thanks for showing every stage and what is required to get a great finish. Sanding, sanding + more sanding.

    Great video dude, good vibe. Makes me miss my 2002 bugeye sti. I bought it extremely cheap with a not so nice early 2000's spec two-tone paint job. Black on the top half and stock silver on the bottom. I always had plans to paint/get it painted back to completely stock silver, however after getting my motorbike lost a bit of interest.
    Sold it for twice what I bought it for, however only three years after its now worth three times that amount again!!!
    Haha oh well.

    it's so insanely hard to paint a car and then you pop into a shop for a bag of crisps and some karen with her goblin kids start slamming their doors into you, scratching against with metal buckles and handbags as they get in and out, not to mention if someone crashes into you while parking and runs away.

    Another great video. You need to take on one or two apprentices. The Australian state and federal governments has subsidies for apprenticeships. One day when I can afford it I will bring my BF XR6 in for a respray, I just need to get someone to replace the two damaged doors with the replacements I have.

    Love this video. Very informative and from what can be seen in the vid, the work looked fantastic. I'm in the process of building my daughter a 02 WRX wagon (usdm). Mild modifications performance wise but really trying to tastefully modernize the interior. As far as the exterior, ours appears to be in very similar shape as yours was. It looks great from 10m but once you get in that 2-3m zone the flaws really start popping out at you. While I have painted many things in my day, never something like this. I'm dabbling with the idea of doing it myself but I'll probably end up paying a pro to do it. Any who....loved the vid and the sti looks fantastic!

    Some stuff just surprises me in the order you did it.... you wash the car , then pull the trim to expose all the dirt. Pull everything then wash it. Why not pull the front bumper and headlights, just a few more bolts and the front cover has to come off anyways to be painted. Would of saved a lot of masking and you could of actually paint more of the fender and not had to paint / mask up the gasket on the headlight on the subaru. Yes I do own a 05 wrx and I've pulled several of them to bare shells to paint and built the back up. But polyester primer is not what you use to lock down the first coat, its EXPOXY, then do body work on top of it. Polyester primer will soak up anything in the air, oils, grease ect that touches it. I don't know any shops that even use it anymore. Epoxy, fillers, then 2k primers ( urethanes) .

    • @hexx-im1tf
      @hexx-im1tf 2 месяца назад

      Epoxy is very difficult to do work on top of, that’s why. If no sanding is required then, yes, epoxy would be the better choice

    @99gibby99 Год назад

    Loved watching your work, and pleased to see you're back!
    out of interest, noted you removed rear bootlid and bumper bar and tail lights.. (and bonnet)
    But you left the headlights and front bumper bar? And I think one side of the rear arch..
    Part of your evil plan? please explain!?

    • @customspraymods
      @customspraymods  Год назад

      I actually loosened the headlights and pushed them out. Mainly because the bumper is hard to remove and fit because of the front mount intercooler. The lights don’t come out good without the bar off.
      The right hand flair snapped when I tried to remove it so I left the left one on.
      The bonnet came off because it was already painted and made it easier to paint the body.
      The boot lid came off so I could paint in the boot area. And it was easier to remove the wing and paint.
      Thanks for watching mate hope this explains a bit.
