  • The Torq x Channel Islands Pod Mod Fish surfboard in the White + Pinline design.
    Available here: www.boardshop....
The Pod Mod design is a cracking little board with great heritage. We love the lightweight, tough construction and most importantly how it surfs. We feared it would be too stiff in this type of epoxy build but thats not the case at all, its got really even flex so it deals with chop etc really well. If you're looking for a small to medium wave destroyer this is a really good option. The 5 fin set up allows you to ride it as a quad on smaller weaker days, if you want more pivot and turning power set up as a thruster.
The shape is a heavily modified original CI Pod, designed to be ridden even shorter and wider than the original, catering to the surfer that wants a little more volume forward to catch waves but doesn’t want to sacrifice performance. The tail has been widened for small wave glide, and the original single to double concave has been replaced with a flat entry to concave vee for quick rail to rail transitions.
The X-Lite tech is a torq Epoxy technology developed specifically for performance boards. This is lighter, stronger and more Eco than a traditional PU/Polyester board, now with a 50% thinner Shield Skin for weight reduction. This innovative technology is used exclusively on the X-Lite Channel Islands models; the best selling Pod Mod and all new Chancho. X-Lite technology now features an additional wood layer sandwich between the two deck biaxial layers. This wood composite is incredibly ding resistant but without adding stiffness usually associated with strength. WE're super stoked to be adding this surfboardto our range, it reprsent proper performance and great value.
The modern day 'fish' design is built for speed, it comes into its own on those chest to overhead days, it loves hollow, glassy days, and enjoys the mushy, sloppy and less than perfect conditions too. The perfect blend of a low rocker, a full nose and wide mid-point, with clean well balanced curves that blend into a traditional swallow tail.
Torq's X-lite Surfboards are constructed using the most up-to-date Epoxy Technology and are constructed in the most advanced mould on the planet, creating the most perfect production every time.
This unique combination of advanced materials and high-tech construction produces a board that performs at the very highest level, offering lightweight shapes with a responsive flex (missing on some cheaper Epoxy boards) but also makes for a really durable and strong surfboard. Your new Torq surfboard will keep you stoked from your first wave to your last. Enjoy!

I have 6’2” ModPod and it’s great for Summers in San Diego and it’s a relatively inexpensive board.

You have too many options to choose from, for a twin + trailer we'd recommend something like the Rasta honey comb set, for a straight twin / classic fish feel any classic keel template will work. For a more conventional thruster set up something like the AM1 honey combs would be great and for a quad set , the flow set would be great . You're spoilt for choice!

Charlie and Jake likes riding this as a twin + trailer or a quad , Ian likes it as a Thruster, but get the configuration dialed in to the conditions you'll be surfing it in!
