That underground coal fire was interesting. Ive never seen anything like that before. Excellent coverage of the trail riding, cant wait to see the rest!!!
Hey Joel, none of us had ever seen it either. It was a really interesting addition to our trip in WV. We were all pretty fascinated by it. Wish we had spent a little more time exploring it, but everyone was itching to get back to the riding since it was still our first day on the trails. I'm hoping we can come across another one on future trips. Glad you enjoyed the video! There is even more action coming in the next few episodes.
Thanks Brad!! Stoked you enjoy the videos man! Ya, we are a curious bunch, lol. Half the reason we are out there is to explore!! Many more videos coming soon!! We've been around quite a bit longer than those boys, but our video styles are also much different. I focus a lot more on the riding aspect, but I do hope I can cross paths with those guys this season. They seem like a fun group of guys to cause some carnage with! I'll be heading down to Michigan this spring/summer so maybe we can meet out on the trails and make some videos together.
Hey AJP, Tell your guys in the RZR 900s to get their ECU reflashed. It will add around 15hp to it and will completely change the riding experience of their machines and hang pretty close to the 1000s in speed. I did it to mine a few years ago and couldn't believe the difference. Its the best and cheapest performance upgrade you can ever do to a 900. Keep those videos coming !
Thanks for the tip Brian F, wasn't sure how much an ECU flash would really do on a non-turbo application like the 900S. I'll be letting my buddies know about that. Rumor has it that Greg who drives the orange 900S is thinking about upgrading machines. He's an awesome and wild rider, would love to see what he would do in a Turbo'd machine!
Hey Midwest ATV, fun is an understatement. Anyone who likes trail riding needs to get out to Hatfield + McCoy. Some of the best riding we have ever done. Way more footage coming, wait till you see some of the rock climbs we did!

Hey crappiekrazy1, glad you enjoy the vids!! We did not meet much traffic the 4 days we were up there. Only met oncoming traffic about 4 or 5 times on the main wider sections of trail. We tried to plan our trip during the week at a time where it wasn't too busy to avoid exactly that. What you don't see in a lot of the videos is that we have one machine running quite a bit up front spotting for the rest of the group in case we do come across oncoming vehicles. We were all pretty surprised at how little traffic there was on the trails. Seemed most the places we ran across others was at wide open rest areas along the trail. Everyone we met was super friendly and down to hang out and talk. It was cool because we met people from all over the United States riding.
AdrenalineJunkieProd the town is Centralia only about 10 people left I live about 10 minutes from there tons and tons of trails to ride also a mile long closed off section of highway Covered in graffiti we call it the crack in the road it's an awesome place you guys should definately check it out lol hit me up ill show you around
skook outdoors awesome! I’ll definitely plan on making a trip sometime this summer then. So you don’t have to give your personal email on here I’ll give the one for my channel so you can send a hello message or something and I’ll have your email to contact you later to work out a time. It’s appalachianmountainriders@gmail.com
Hey hank, that's coming in day 2 not part 2, sorry if I confused you. There will be ALOT of tire carnage, lol. I think we got most the good damage on camera. There is tons of content, we are only about half way through day 1 content so far and there are 3 days of riding. Stay tuned ;)
I know this is an old video but a warning should be posted about that fire. Mostly anywhere you go in WestVirginia has be mined. What you were probably seeing was fire coming from an old mine shaft. That whole area has probably been undermined. Underground fired can burn for decades. All that is needed is oxygen. It looks like the ground has slipped away on that slope and allowed oxygen to reach the old mine. Therin lies the problem, as you could have walked over a void just below the surface. Falling into one of those could make for a bad day. Best just look at a distance and report the location later. I just wanted to make others aware of what that could be and warn them of the dangers. I'm not 100% sure (miners can chime in) but there could have been a pocket of methane coming to the surface around there, one breath of that and no more SXS riding. Keep the videos coming.
Hey rjtaler, great info! We were wondering if it was an old mine on fire under ground. Now that you mentioned all those points I guess there was a little risk involved in walking up there but damn was it cool. I had never seen anything like that. I would love to visit an old mine if that was possible. We will be heading back to WV again soon. Glad you enjoy the videos and thanks for chiming in, hopefully some others can add some more info on the topic.
AdrenalineJunkieProd Burning Rock ATV Park is in Beckley Wva. I've never been there but they say it's really nice. If you go, you can visit the Beckley mine exhibit. It's pretty cool to go inside an old mines. I left a link if you ever decide to go. Good luck. beckley.org/general-information-coal-mine/
Ya man, it was really interesting. Wish I went up too, but I was feeling too lazy to climb the huge hill, figured I'd just watch the video, lol. Next time if we find one I'll investigate a in more detail.
Hey Quadnecks, that's a tough question. However, if you are looking for an all around tire I am a big fan of the ITP Blackwater Evolutions and the GBC Dirt Commanders. Both awesome all around tires. I do like the Maxxis Bighorns a lot too, but the 6 play design makes them a little more prone to punctures and failure than the other two I mentioned. Keep in mind, the best tire for one person won't be the best tire for another. It all depends on what you ride, how your ride and where you ride.
Hey Scott, we got stuck on one short downhill section of one I think cause we got lost and took a wrong turn and couldn't really turn back by the time we realized it. We were only on it for a few minutes. Besides that we stayed off them. We tried to stay on the wider trails as our group was pretty big.
Lucky you, wish it was closer to us because I would do the same. It's lookin like the group is planning two trips back this season. One in March (unfortunately I can't get time off in March so I have to miss it) and one in August. I'll keep you guys in the loop as to the exact dates we end up going.
Careful around those underground coal fires. They can burn out a cavity and leave a big open cavern. You can fall through the ground, literally into hell. lol And don't stick branches or sticks in the holes and leave. You'll start a forest fire. Show some common sense and respect.
You guys are totally disrespecting the trail rules... What happens if there's so many coming down the other way coming up to direction you guys are going... You know you'll get fined for doing that stuff if you do that up here in Maine I don't understand why you put other people's lives at risk riding like that... I was certainly like an answer I'm going to watch a videos because I am subscribed to him I would like for you to justify to all of us while you drive so recklessly
Their is a lot of great riding here in WV, proud to be a mountaineer and a coal miner
I love those trails. I was just exactly at 195 and 23 intersection a few months ago. Great single track on my WR450F
Can't wait to go back!

I was born there, they have been burning all my life. In multiple locations.
Joey Justice that’s awesome, it was really cool to see it.
Looks like a blast, going to put this place on the Bucket list
Put it near the top M.J. it's unreal. So much trail, so much natural beauty, so many nice people all around. Wonderful place to visit.
Man these trails look like so much fun! I really need to get out to WV.

Thanks Jeff, I wanna go back sooooo bad!! It's an awesome place to ride, make sure you make it out there one day!
Me too
I love going fast. but those are all 2 way trails, did you meet much oncoming traffic? Cool videos BTW

FYI there is a whole abandon town in Pennsylvanian.. that is an underground coal fire.
Really, that sounds really cool. Gonna look into that. Thanks for sharing Mike!

Thanks Rod!!
Great video. Me and my buddies are going the first week in May to ride the same trails. CANT WAIT!!!
I'm serious considering buying a winter home in this area so I can ride year round.
Can't say I blame you. There's some beautiful scenery and some awesome riding around these parts of WV. You can get great deals on properties too.
Great video as always. But , what happened to Hatfield McCoy Carnage part 2 ? I wanted to see the tire damage caused by Rock House trails.

The e is silent in Anse and Devil Anse was a real person.
Where do I get that warning hold on sticker I like that haha!!
I made it, I can throw some up on our Shopify store in the next little while if you'd like one.
"Devil Anse Hatfield" was his name :-)
Thanks TurfCare11, didn't know that. Interesting name, lol. I need to brush up on my trail history!
SXS's don't belong on any trail with a number over 100 at Hatfield McCoy... They are single track for motorcycles only!
What do you mean by Ecu.reflash on the 900.
Re program the computer
That’s called coal burning in the maintain
AJP what tires do you recommend
Hey Quadnecks, that's a tough question. However, if you are looking for an all around tire I am a big fan of the ITP Blackwater Evolutions and the GBC Dirt Commanders. Both awesome all around tires. The orange trails are meant for dirtbikes, were y'all riding on those? Nice video

Yeah definently a single track trail. 195 is for dirt bikes only lol

Wow he shouldn’t had climbed up there the ground could had caved in and who knows how deep that would be

That and they're riding on motorcycle only trails... Anything over #100 is singletrack.
Hope nobody is coming the other way
Guys, riding the single track trails in SxS’s? Really? As if there’s not enough UTV trails for you? Be respectful of the trails and other riders.
