    I started with a travel industry school in the late 70's after newly married.
    I loved it, got straight A's through out...but at the end found having a toddler and a new baby I just couldn't keep up school... when I was in high school my dream was to be a flight attendant' " stewardess back then', Now I'm 60+ and children grown, enjoying 3 wonderful grandchildren is my life ...
    I enjoy watching your channel very much Don.. Thanks for the entertaining videos. 😊

    Hello Don, thank you as always for your detailed and honest videos. I would like to learn more information on becoming a travel agent. How would someone who is interest in being a travel agent get started? Do you need to take courses, pass an exam, etc. I would love to do this part time while being a school teacher. Your video sparked interest. Hope your vacation is going great!

    I was going to be a travel agent, even did a full time course, but I found it’s a bit hard and technology was hard to learn, especially when I was booking flights and I had to do a few role-plays. But that said I may try to work with a travel agent they only does cruise bookings.

    I was a TA for 15 years and a Sales Rep for a Tour Wholesaler For 15 years before that and those trips you mention were 99% taken by the Agency owners or manager. The Agents rarely got anything except commission off their cruise. It is also a very poorly paid industry, especially for what you have to know.

    Just a question, what does a travel agent do? I know make travel arrangements but I guess I just thought with the internet people didn’t need them anymore. Is there something you can book that the average person couldn’t? I’m sorry if this is a dumb question.

    So if I was to become a travel agent how would I began

    • @Donsfamilyvacations
      @Donsfamilyvacations  6 лет назад +1

      you first have to decide if you want to be an at home agent or one that works in a travel agency office. for at home I would google hosting agency and see which ones seem the best for you. there will be a test you need to study for and if you join a host agency there will be fees and lots of training online. if you want to work in an office then you would have to take a course at a college and then apply. Just remember it's very hard to make any money when you start, and you don't get paid until the travel you booked takes place and lots of people book 18 months in advance so you might sell $1000 in sales but have to wait over a year for that money until you have built up clients.
