This is such a beautiful thing. It's absolutely staggering how few times players attempt this. Even if 50% successful (and it would probably be higher), that a .500 batting average!
@@bradrum1 It isn't the shift making the game slow. It's the lack of pitch clock and the batter stepping out off the box every pitch. Banning the shift will just make the game longer with more men on base
@@michaellyga4726 Agreed. But this clip showed Bryce Harper, Anthony Rizzo, and David Ortiz bunting against the shift, and those three have massive egos. If you can convince these guys to bunt, you should be able to convince anyone.
You should do most versatile players, such as Brock Holt, Marwin Gonzalez, Don Kelly, etc where they both infield and outfield or catcher and infield/outfield like Russell Martin, Austin Barnes, Kyle Schwarber, etc
Bc a holes and media or I don't know who swear all Americans want to watch is homeruns, that's why go to baseball games... Totally untrue, many and I would bet grand majority still enjoy small ball... The year of sosa and bonds roiding in order to hit fingers was a travesty
That's how you beat the shift,. I can't believe there is strong talk of limiting the shift tomorrow,. Don't bail out these a-holes who still have to swing for homeruns with the third base side wide open...
They should literally bunt every time against the shift. Eventually, teams will quit doing the shift and we can get back to playing the game the way it was meant to be played. Bunting in the shift era should be a required skill.
That's what I have been thinking. You don't need a rule banning huge shifts like this. Just bunt the ball where they aren't. If enough players do that, then it will render such a shift obsolete and you won't need a rule against it.
0:37 and comment at 0:50 "it's a questionable play the first time, this time it makes perfect sense." How is getting an automatic single in the first inning with no runners on ever a questionable play???
The ball was rolling around, but was over the line almost the whole time, making it fair. And would be even harder to see from his POV. No chickens created. ;)
The shift would have been a non issue if more of these ego centric players would have laid down bunts consistently when one side of the infield was wide open. Pete Rose would have licked his chops at getting shifted.
Imagine paying hundreds of dollars to see a game at the park and seeing those big guys doing this?. They should just call this mini golf instead, my 11 yro son told me.😂
I love so much when this happens.
Why doesn't everybody that gets heavily shifted against attempt to do this? All Major Leaguers, really all baseball players, should know how to bunt!
They’d rather get their 30 home runs than bat .800 lol
@@HueyPPLong LOL!! If they give it to ya, take it!
@@HueyPPLong Stats show you get more paid for HRs than anything else.
This is how you ban the shift! Not by league executives making dumbass rules, but by more batters making adjustments.
Amen! It's staggering how few players attempt this
It is how you BEAT the shift. It is not a ban.

a rule? no. Don't do it if it hurts your team.
Welp. Here we are.
Too late... :/
Yeah ya do. No one wants to watch the game slow to a snails pace for the shift.

I don’t see why every single lefty doesn’t do this a guaranteed hit and will also basically ruin the shift
Teams do not employ the shift against every single lefty.
More players should do this
I do it on mlb the show 17 all the time
Yes. However, this is not so easy like all the people say. Bunt is not so easy
Most MLB players have big egos. That’s all you need to know.

Or Taysom Hill.
2:39...he is out. He stepped out of the batter's box.
It's close... but that foot probably isn't entirely out of the box. It looks like the heel is touching the chalk line.
I'm surprised more players in the league haven't caught on and started doing this more frequently

If you're going to shift, don't pitch him outside!
Don’t pitch WHOM outside?
How do you get these clips
The Shift = Cheap Base Hit for anyone who knows how to bunt.

They’re all batting left. No right handed batters (bunters)?
Right handlers didn’t get shifted against much
You should do walk off grand slams
do walk offs blown by bad calls
It’s Rock Paper Scissors.
If you want to give the 3rd base line, then I’ll bunt. 🤷🏽♂️
The shift shouldn’t have been banned.
Banning the shift is dumb
players hitting home runs against there former team?
Why?
Idk something different
or you should do winning by bad calls
catcher at 1:24 missed making the ball fowl by touching it.
