  • Welcome to my 'Cost-Effective' Recruiting Guide video. This video is designed to help you when choosing what backgrounds to hire on a normal playthrough of Legends Mod. This is 'technically' a condensed version of the background tier-list video that focuses more on the cost-effective choices of recruiting brothers. I hope this can assist you with finding your next recruit. Dont forget you can access the spreadsheet full of stats, a copy of the tables from here, whenever you want with the link below.
Legends Mod for Battle Brothers is the largest expansion-type mod available to the game. It contains plenty of new enemies, brothers, perks, magic, origins, etc. You can even play as the skeletons, a necromancer or even a druid, amongst many other starts. The sub-mods; Battle Sisters and Dynamic Perks adds a lot of variety to the game (World Economy and Theriantrophy are still a work in progress).

I hope this was helpful and that you guys enjoyed this more compact-styled guide to cost-effective recruiting in Legends Mod.
Don't forget the spreadsheet has everything you need, including the tables from this guide as well!
(also yes I did accidentally say noble when wanting to say nomad haha) :)

The only think I dislike is 'dollar', gold is what we spend to get recruits :)
    Anyway, great video !
Also if we're talking about the early part of the game considering a cost of under 600 gold, Farmhand is great for fodder as with their higher then average health and fatigue, they can survive a swing or two more then other cheap backgrounds and equip ancient and rusted armors and helmets without big consequences.

Haha, you are right with the gold. I was just lazy and went with dollars :)
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for your opinion and nice comment.
This guide is more for the brothers you want to keep, so if you're looking for fodder I'd recommend some other backgrounds.
The Farmhand is a decent background but too expensive as a fodder and not as reliable as the options above, for the long run, in my opinion.
The Milkmaid/man and Miller are basically cheaper Farmhands for the same job and I'd recommend grabbing them if you like Farmhands for early game fodder :)
(Ironmongers are pretty tanky and cheap as well but don't have as much fatigue as the milk & millers) Hope this helps.

that spreadsheet is eye candy and a HUGE help for a battle brothers player. it must have been a LOT of work.

No worries about the spreadsheet, I am happy I can help you guys enjoy the game more.
The spreadsheet is definitely the heart of it all, and yes, countless hours for sure :)

One very important background I didn't see in your video : Quartermaster type bro that you level up to paymaster/reduced ration/peaceable then put into reserve and hunt in camp

    • @TheIndomitableSnowman
      @TheIndomitableSnowman  Год назад +1

The backgrounds suggested in this guide are mainly for combat, as that is what most bros will be recruited for.
Quartermasters and paymaster bros are useful but making a single bro to live his whole life in reserve is not what I usually recommend.
Grabbing the single perk for quartermaster on a random combat bro, and then the paymaster perk on a random combat bro is what I usually do and that allows your bros to still contribute in fights for the cost of a single perk :)

@@TheIndomitableSnowman ah I see, well servants are not great fighters, so I pick the two perks to get porridge/alcohol while hunting, the camp cooking perk, the medecinal craft perk, quartermaster, paymaster then peaceable then reserve
With a polearm raise mattk and defensive stats.
Wouldn't it make the bro you have paymaster or quartermaster wasting it's potential a bit and if a deadmeat tank bro you'll lose him sooner or later.
The goal was to maximize the econ on one bro and to have those QOL forever, even makes sense if you roleplay haha

Why can't I find anywhere online that shows the base hiring price of the different backgrounds? (Without the equipment or level factored in). Closest I found was your spreadsheet, but it doesn't provide that for all of them.

    • @TheIndomitableSnowman

There is kind-of a base-price list on the legends spreadsheet (not my one).
But it's hard to get used to and utilize a "base-cost" because there are multiple factors that affect their cost and it's not as straight forward as you'd expect (same for stats).
