Yes and a end of year tour for him… I want to see Horne replace Wiese and Doos in the bok squad, he is way better. SARUs selection bias of Cape Town is an absolute disgrace
The comment section complaining about attendance 😂😂😂😂😂 I can bet your European team would have the same problem if your stadium had 60,000 seats while your national team was playing literally on the same day Everyone made plans to watch the Springboks later that day Blame WR schedule and the scheduling of the competition
Tahts what I was thinking during the currie Cup. I was like, "damn, nobody goes to watch club rugby in SA" and then I realised SA played the all blacks in about an hour and it all made sense
Empty pavilions becoming the trademark of non international rugby matches. More people probably attended the Club League game between Somerset and Hamiltons on Friday night. Look at the attendance at Varsity cup games! Why not coordinate with local primary and High school administration and alow schools free entry! I'm sure Emirates Park management knew beforehand. This will benefit the school boys and grow the game!
@@Antimessiah-p4b you’re so on the money Professional club rugby around the world except in France is a major problem And your right, professional sports clubs in SA need to downsize and do a better job in marketing and coordinating its brand with the schools and local areas
Do they have any smaller stadiums in SA? With the best will in the world, the attendance for Lions v Ulster was always going to be lost in that stadium. I mean a 10K or 15K stadium would be more than enough for a lot of URC games. It would mean a much better atmosphere and spectacle.
Lions were the superior side but Ulster had their moments. They were missing their Emerging Ireland players who flew out today to play two games in SA. It was an achievement to get a bonus point out of that game.
I blame the marketing department of the lions team fans attending their games has been shrinking almost every home game they had a choice to choose a much smaller stadium than Ellis Park their managers refused now look how empty it is
Because Ellis Park holds no debt it’s fully paid, it’s also an historic icon and national treasure. It’s certainly not fair to blame the union or the collapse of the CBD on the lions when government and its immigration policies are directly at fault. Now there’s an athletic track, Olympic pool with diving facilities and a gymnasium that serves almost every school in JHB with provincial athletic and swim meets. Those too are huge financial attractors too for Ellis Park. I do agree though that another stadium needs to be built in the East Rand, it would really on need to hold 40k people and would not need to be as big! The problem with this though is what becomes of Ellis Park? Most citizens won’t want this stadium in the hands of government, it’s our most iconic stadium
It's sad that most things good in the country we as private citizens do more to keep it something worth having than those that run it care to with all at their feet.
Some of those tries the Lions just strolled through. Defence nowhere near up to scratch from Ulster. I’ve been impressed with the Lions since the URC started but they never seem to make the playoffs which weird.
International observers have no idea how big Ellis Park actually is. There's comfortable seating for 80 000, and has accommodated 100 000 capacity crowds. It was built in the 70's by a maverick millionaire Transvaal Rugby lover who rescued a practically bankrupt union, built this magnificent venue and sold it to events like Paul Simon and other luminaries. Our faithful crowd sort of gets lost in its magnificence.
I think... Horn was lucky to be named and Fassi was always going to be annointed if not Willemse, and so on with the centers. Some players playing in place of is just because they made themselves they can't not be picked like Jesse Kriel/Am.
Im tired of seeing the comment "where is attending," then why dont you going there??? Nowadays, sports fans would rather watch TV in the pub than go to stadium stadium
Same Time Zone? No jet lag north to south and there’s nothing wrong with touring schedules, it’s that the rugby season is currently overbooked with overlaps of other competitions! This will fix itself as unions grow in having multiple squads for various competitions! All our big unions have 2 squads at least

Shocking defence from Ulster.
URC Channel is fired up this season and I'm loving it❤️🔥🔥🔥

Wolhuter tried his best to score in the corner with an open tryline in front of him.
Thanks for getting highlights up so quick.
Very Good game from the Lions!!! Ulster is a very strong team. So the Lions can reach the Play Offs this time around🦁🦁🦁🦁🦁

I think you’ll find those figures were before the renovation. Since it’s reopening as an all seater venue in 1982 capacity is 62,500.

The stadium is way too big which is the real problem. They really need to find a smaller stadium to use.
Ofcos they went to watch the boks😊❤🎉
Waiting for strong opposition. No one in SA has ever heard of Ulster unfortunately
What’s the attendance 50 ? lol
Playing in an empty stadium is a terrible look. Surely there’s a smaller venue available.
